It's NHL 2010 Playoffs Folks

If the Flyers come out playing like they did in the third period of game two they should be fine tonight. Add more traffic in front of Niemi, aim on the high side because the Finn is pretty good down low and get some bounces. They should be pumped playing at home where they should feed off the crowd but watch out for being over agressive.
Leighton has to play the game of his life tonight as well.
As for the Hawks, if someone wakes up the first line of Toews, Kane and Byfuglien, the series could be in danger of being swept.

Well, as for number 1, because he is an a$$.XXXIV wrote:Flyers up 1-0 after one.
Philly came to play but so did the Hawks. Only difference so far is the pass Hartnell made on the Flyer PP.
I dont get Byfuglien's penalty at end of the period for two reasons. 1)I dont get why he was acting an ass 2) He wasnt the only ass. Why is he the only one going off?
And the reason he was the only one sent off is because he wouldn't let go off Timonen and Richards. He had an extra 10 seconds hold on Timonen's neck and was sent off. Dumb.
Thanks godness for video reviews. Flyers up again.
Well...The slash was even f***in dumber. Hes got to know by now that they aint gonna call Pronger's cross checks in front of the goal. Led to that goal. Cmon Buff get your head out your ass.10spro wrote:Well, as for number 1, because he is an a$$.XXXIV wrote:Flyers up 1-0 after one.

Great game. . .Flyers really played well and were strong on the forecheck for most of the first and second period. To score that quick after Kane's go ahead was big for them.
The Hawks can pin this on stupid penalties and a horrid decision to change without the puck to set up the game winner.
Would have called a Timeout after the first "winner" though. . .that certainly rattled the Hawks a bit.
Local Radio is pissed about another game with a bunch of missed calls. . .probably the worst one was the punch to the head by Hartnell on Versteeg, but Sopel (seriously) scored seconds after that. . .
I didn't think it was as bad as they're saying, which is saying a lot since I am strongly anti-official. . .
For the Hawks, they got the breakaway goal from Kane but really need their top 9 to step up to win game 4. . .they certainly have it in them to do so. . .
For the Flyers, if they can, they need to keep this energy up and maintain their pressure on the forecheck. . .they lost that a bit at the end of the third and the first four minutes of OT and immediately the Hawks took control of the game. . .
So looking forward to more of this on Friday Night!!!

I'm just glad the flyers won because I have tickets to game 4 and it will be a lot more interesting now.
I still think the flyers need more from Leighton and it is a little worrying that Kane actually decided to show up for the series. Hopefully they'll keep up the great special teams play.
I'll also say that the officials are letting both teams play the last 2 games and letting quite a bit go.

I agree there have been some no calls...but its not all Flyers getting away with should be penalties. Last night Briere took a high stick up under his shield right after a faceoff.
I loved the win last night but I can't help but think that the Niemi/Leighton comparison leans towrds Niemi. Leighton needs to step up even more the rest of the series for the Flyers to win it. I don't know if that is going to happen.

I don't have a problem with the refs letting them play a little. The only problem I have with the officiating at this point is the fact that Pronger is invisible. Buff gets cross-checked twice by Pronger and there's no call. The second he whacks Pronger's stick Buff goes to the box. I'm not saying Buff shouldn't have been called for a penalty, but Pronger should have too. There's no single player on the Blackhawks who is not getting penalties so there shouldn't be one single Flyer who doesn't.Diablo25 wrote:I agree there have been some no calls...but its not all Flyers getting away with should be penalties. I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

Agreed. JR was on that Versus show after the game and made this point and I totally agreed with his logic. . .sending them both off would have been the fair call. . .ScoopBrady wrote:I don't have a problem with the refs letting them play a little. Probably not game changing by any means, but giving Pronger the Get out of the Box card is a bit much. . .

This question must be asked after two periods: Does any player on the Blackhawks other than Marian Hossa truly want to win the Stanley Cup?
What a listless effort through two periods by Chicago. The Blackhawks are playing softer than the Stay-Puf Marshmallow Man. They're losing nearly every battle along the boards. They're putting nowhere near enough traffic in front of Leighton. They're committing stupid stick penalties because they're not moving their feet. Their defense in the high and low slot is appalling -- just look at how easily Timonen cruised into the high slot and fed an open Giroux at the post on Philly's third goal. Their puck clearance from their zone was appalling, especially in the first period.
And when the hell are Toews, Kane and Byfuglien going to show up? They're embarrassing. Yes, Laviolette is getting the last change at home and using it to put Pronger against that line. But Pronger is ONE MAN. A damn good, damn nasty defenseman. But that line needs to find a way to prevent one man from neutering it, which is exactly what is happening. Great lines find a way to score despite the presence of a shutdown, stay-at-home defenseman.
Pronger is so far inside Byfuglien's head that he could do a brain biopsy. Prongs is totally f*cking with Big Buff's game and psyche, and Byfuglien has no answers.
And you know Chicago is in trouble when Brian Campbell has levied the biggest hit of the game for the Blackhawks. Quenneville should try to clone Hossa before the third period. He's the only Hawks' player who has any sense of urgency in this game, the only guy who really seems to want his name etched on the mug.
And once again, there is no more overrated announcing tandem in hockey than Mike Emrick and Ed Olczyk. I'm so glad Doc let me know that Jill Biden shares a birthday with former Winnipeg Jet and Toronto Maple Leaf scoring grinder Laurie Boschman -- that made my night. And Olczyk is bringing absolutely nothing to this telecast. Maybe he's bummed out that his beloved Blackhawks are losing, but Ed-zo would be well served to listen to Ray Ferraro analyze a game for TSN.
