It's a definite, Sport. I talked to the guy at gamespot and at first he said 6/1. I told him about the email, he checked and confirmed it. I also got a text from gamestop tonite saying I could pick it up in the morning. Perfect timing for a holiday weekend. Thanks, gamestop!Sport73 wrote:Seriously? I didn't pre-order but would be thrilled to pick up the game tomorrow!!!GTHobbes wrote:Hot damn...just got confirmation from my local Gamespot that they're able to start selling it tomorrow (Saturday, 5/29) and that my pre-order can be picked up when doors open at 10:00 a.m. Just the news I wanted to hear heading into the holiday weekend.
Can anyone confirm this?
Backbreaker Preview - Natural Motion based football title

I've been waiting for this game (which some thought would never exist) for 3 or 4 years now, and for an alternative to Tiburon's version of football even longer than that. It's like Christmas in May at my house this morning.MizzouRah wrote:Still looking forward to impressions.. can't wait until you guys pick it and have some time with it.

Just saw this post from RMoody, who also apparently got the game early. (Personally I think pasta is a d***** bag, but he does a good job for EA. He's the original EA Game Changer/Community Manager/whatever you want to call it, IMO):
"First off, I wish we could set the petty "Who deserves the game" issues aside. The bottom line is very simple, 505 saw value in the Youtube community, rather than criticize who is worthy lets just appreciate what they did and what this could mean going forward.
As of 5pm EST tonight I was told the embargo is still active and needs to be respected. I will gladly comply with that and post a few impressions with the sole expectation to help some of those "on the fence" make a decision tomorrow. To spare you the reading and typo hunt that could follow, if your a football fan you owe it to yourself to buy this game.
Having said that, with the exception of those with years of hands on experience with BB and 505 a "review" of this game already should not be taken seriously. To be blunt, this game plays like no football game before it. After playing 15 or so games across the board in terms of modes, its still hard to get a firm enough grasp on the game to tell others what to think. Keep that in mind before you read ANY reviewer speak on the game.
One thing that is clear, a lot of time effort and intelligence went into this game. Alot of pride went into the product and I find it very cool that is respected in the bonus content.
Now the stuff you guys care about.
The create a team is amazingly deep, difficult to explain yet refined enough to remain simple and understandable. The method of Gold Players to Team Style contrast will ultimately mean no matter what team you play, balanced game play is the overall goal.
Once you make your team, having them replicate whatever look you prefer is rather simple. If you simply want your team to visually look there real life counterparts then you can stop here and no doubt enjoy taking them on the field.
However, some of us wont be content with the team having players who don't "play the part", for example my 5'9 QB didn't exactly fit the mold for my team. For a game with no fatigue or injuries, it sure has an extensive free agent list. Ultimately you can sift though each level of players to find a particular style player who you can quickly rename and number. However this is a time consuming process and since you cant edit the size, weight or height of your player will give you a better grasp on your team but no clear cut advantage over anybody else.
What we all have to understand is physics are something we have not seen in football before and exploits in gaming is second nature. So before you become critical of the lack of player manipulation reflect on something. Do you want a 350 pound HB running a 4.4 40 named "Bowling B. All" on the other team. How about a 7 foot WR named Jolly Green-Giant? As funny as those visuals might appear, don't put it past your fellow gamers. If nothing else I look at this limitation as a necessary evil, one that any game company should follow suit with.
In closing, this game does things never seen in a football game. Yet once you see them you will honestly wonder how you played a game without it. Prime example is when players understand when they are near the goal line and make calculated risks to extend the ball across the plain. When you realize its not an animation being executed or some odd button configuration, you will see that comparing this to other games might not even been an option.
Hopefully I was able to do this within the guidelines of 505 and NM, if not please by all means delete it. I value and respect being apart of the process and hope the number of people grows and I personally can be more involved next time."

I was able to trade in 2 games and got Backbreaker with no money out of pocket. I even had $10 to kick towards Madden to boot. The combination of me loving football and Alpha Protocol getting slammed in the reviews that are trickling out made this an easier choice. I hope the good outweighs the bad here.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

Uggh, what a disappointment this is so far. There's a major running into the kicker bug on punts. I'm not calling a block punt play, it's just the normal vanilla 'punt return'.
I had 2 running into the kicker plays in the first half of a game with 5 minute quarters, medium difficulty, and pro style(not arcade).
I thought no big deal, but I stopped the cpu to start the second half and they punt, and had one running into the kicker that did not result in a first down, but the very next play, the rekick, it also had a lovely running into the kicker to give the cpu a first down. That's 4 running into the kicker penalties called, and two in a freaking row!
I may have to put this game down for a bit until a patch arrives.
Oh, there were 16 sacks at halftime, 8 by each team. lol

It never happened to me during the demo but there might be a reason for that. I wonder if it just happens that the same guy on the same team always roughs the kicker because he's an overmatch at the position? So he'll always get closer to the kicker than the other guys and then the dumb cpu just has him run into the kicker? That could explain why you don't always see it since if you play with a different team, the same guy might get blocked more.
Still if I bought the game for less than $20 I can overlook all that and just treat it as a videogame. It shouldn't take long for it to reach that magical price point.Schmev wrote:It never happened to me during the demo but there might be a reason for that. How is RMoody any different than Pasta Padre? While I see a ton of potential in this game, and there are some things to like, RMOODY (who has quite an agenda in his own right) paints the picture a lot brighter than it really is.

Some guys are starting to make NFL uni's. Pretty decent job so far.

BK -- I agree. I also pretty much agree with all of the initial impressions you posted in one of the other forums.
Two quick things I'll add: took me 30 minutes or so to create pretty good Steelers' uniforms. Good stuff.
Took my team of Steeler greats online (PS3) and lost 21-0 in a game against a guy who had the Jets roster. He scored on a TD and 5 field goals (he tried for 2 after the TD and got stuffed). You wouldn't know it from the score but it was a pretty good game and a ton of fun. I had very little lag, and I love watching some of the replays against a human opponent. I do wish there were some way to save and upload replays -- there were 5 or 7 in my game I would've loved to share.
Hope to get another online game or two later tonight when we get back home.

Yeah the editor is pretty easy. Even someone with no skills like myself can put something decent looking together pretty quickly.GTHobbes wrote:BK -- I agree. I also pretty much agree with all of the initial impressions you posted in one of the other forums.

The replay thing is a killer. tough to show off a cool new engine with no ability to save replays.

I was able to play a game while the baby napped. It was pretty much like the demo. I was the Tennessee Swarm and I played the Los Angeles team. I won the game 33-21 thanks to my ground attack and 5 interceptions. It could have been 6 but I roughed the passer.
It's fun because it's football but those expecting a realistic experience that will challenge Madden really need to curb their expectations. There are moments you will think "Oh my god, Madden doesn't even come close to that." Unfortunately for every one of those moments you'll be rolling your eyes when:
a player looks like a ragdoll with limbs bending in impossible ways
or when you get 5 interceptions in one game
or when you see 3 of your blockers practically on top of each other instead of spread out
or when the cpu throws a screen in the endzone where the hb runs out of bounds after catching it giving you a safety.
I traded in 2 games I had finished and wasn't going to play again to get this game for free. If I had spent $50 I might not be happy about it. As is I can definitely see myself having fun with this until Madden comes out but make no mistake, this game has a lot of shortcomings that Madden would absolutely get taken to town for if it had them.

You're going to see a lot of praise for the online component of the game. I've played 4 games so far (have not even completed an offline game yet) and all 4 have been good games with little or no lag (PS3). It's so gratifying getting a 4 yard run or even better a big gainer on offense, blowing someone up on special teams, or being in on a play on defense, once you get the hang of the controls. You do see a fair amount of weird s*** (e.g., guys tripping over each other sometimes), but again, I just wish I could save some of these replays -- great stuff.

What was the point in quoting this guy if you knew he had an agenda?

I have no clue who this moody guy is are what. But does he use a site to get free stuff and access to EA Sports or any game developer.
I will say his video that was quoted was pretty lame. So was PP's. I don't go to PP unless it's to see new screens or something that doesn't involve reading his drivel.
At this point it seems that the biggest problem is the AI. Haven't heard much on what the cause of that it is or if there are any in-game house rules that could help that (doubt there is). We'll see this week if the devs give out any signs of an AI patch.
