Blatter joked that in "Latin" countries, Terry's conduct may not have been considered a problem.

Blatter said: "Listen, this is a special approach in the Anglo-Saxon countries. If this had happened in let's say Latin countries then I think he would have been applauded."
Really ? The Swiss Thief doesn't think that there might be some unforeseen consequences if a player in an Argentinian team stood up in the dressing room and said "By the way Roberto, I've been shagging your bird for months, got her up the duff and paid for her to have an abortion...and I ain't the only one".

Yeah, OK. Of course, as well as being as corrupt as any African kleptocrat, Blatter has a history of misogyny as well - he has previously suggested that women's football teams should wear revealing gear to get people to watch.

What a f***in dick that guy is. It's no wonder Platini is such a prize twat, he's learnt at the feet of a real master.

Almunia might not be a great keeper, but his backup is a joke.

Cue the usual nonsense from the commentators about whether someone used to refereeing Norweigian League games should be doing the CL. Nice to see former refs over here saying that the ref was quite right to allow the Porto goal - and I remember seeing a very similar one at Maine Road in 98 that all be sent City down.

The point about refs would only be a reasonable argument if the same commentators and pundits didn't spend all game on Saturdays and Sundays lambasting our refs for not spotting something that took them 4 minutes of super slo-mo to spot, using a magical glowing line that isn't actually available to the officials in real time. So they spend all weekend calling our officials names, but then hold them up as being far better than their brethren from overseas ?

Lots of yellow cards for Liverpool today. Enough for a fine, I think.

Michael Owens scores again, I fully expect the Owen for England pieces to start again.

The new girl on Fox Soccer Report needs to calm down a bit and stop waving her arms around so much. Bring back Carlos Machado.

Not in the slightest. They'll go into administration by Friday, take the 9 point penalty as they are going down anyways. This then gives any potential suitors time to do takeover deals properly, as opposed to 'do everything by March 1'.

It always amuses me when people taking over clubs then express surprise about what they uncover, like Captain Porno and his mate at West Ham, who seem to be appearing on TV a lot talking about proper football club finance. If they are telling me that the scale of WH's debts were a surprise to them, I would like to introduce them to a concept that shouldn't be a shock to anyone purporting to be experts at properly running a football club.

It's called 'Due Diligence'.

Due Dilligence has no place in football. When is someone buying Wednesday?

probably because Italian teams routinely have their debts "forgiven" and Bundesliga clubs aren't allowed to carry any unless it is debt on infrastructure.

Cech went down, and was subbed out.

Initial reports had it as a cruciate ligament injury.

Nice to see you're still on message, Squid ;)

Meanwhile, watch out for the highlights of today's Chelsea v City clash...they're about 90 mins long, or slighly longer if you count Wayne Bridge snubbing Terry.

And as for the the latter, can I just say

"HOW LONG WAS THAT UNBEATEN HOME RECORD AGAIN ?"

:)

Typical City !

Yes that was hilarious, much like Hilario in goal was.

Watch Bellamy as he shakes Terry's hand. Opinion on the City forums is currently divided as to whether he says 'you w*nker' or 'you c*nt' to Terry, though I actually see it as 'f**k off'. Really lays into him in the post match interview as well :)

Indeed, you know how bad it is when all the players stop. Unusually for Stoke, I don't think Shawcross went in to do him, indeed he was in tears when sent off. Of course Arsene Wenger is painting it as teams going to kick Arsenal out of the game....well, it all helps move the spotlight away from their 4 trophyless years.

Sky didn't show a replay after the event either, but I've seen it and it's pretty bleeding grim - almost as bad as that Dave Busst one against Man U where Schmeichel went behind his net to throw up. Do youselves a big favour and don't look for that one on Youtube :(

ESPN has the photo from a pretty good distance but the leg was in a circular shape from the knee to foot.

Great win by City today Dave. I didn't see but but with a game in-hand and sitting in 4th Man City are sitting pretty well considering the last month.

I don't know quite where everyone got this 'last month' malarkey from...in January's form table, City were second with 15 points from a possible 18, with only Man U (16 pts) in front of them. And let's not forget that Mancini has only been there 2 months, with a squad completely assembled by someone else apart from Adam Johnson, who's 22.
