The major thrust of the changes is to get more goal-scoring variation and loosen up goal scoring a bit. There will be more variety in CPU goalie positioning too, look forward to those changes.

Prior to me commenting on the goal variation, I will say that this is the best overall hockey game I have played.

As far as goal scoring is concerned, it still has problems with variation. Just like baseball games have problems with hit variation, this has similar problems.

There are two main ways of scoring. A slapper from the high slot or a rebound. Now this is not the only ways I can score, but the other variations are few and far between. I have had some really neat goals; deflections; wristers; wrap arounds; goalie mis-plays; but again, they just don't happen enough.

I find that the CPU scores in more variations than I do, probably now because I have realized that these are my best chances of scoring.

Been really playing the heck out of NHL 10 with the new tuner and roster and wow.. it's great to be able to play the playoff mode and add the teams just like they are right now.

Well.. I had to take out Calgary and put the Blues in the 8th spot. :)

The waving towels, the playoffs logo on the ice, they way the announcers talk about games past.. the tight gameplay, I could go on forever.

Not only is this the best hockey game ever, but it's my favorite sports game of all time. The new tuner really gives the game more goal variation.

yes, I've been playing it to death lately too. I had to settle on ditching manual passing, as I found I just couldn't generate scoring chances with it.

I'm playing with mostly AS default sliders, except for the goalie ones and fatigue up a notch, and after struggling out of the gate taking the Oil to a 1-7-1 record, I have recently ripped off 4 straight wins and think i'm at .500.

I really hope they work on presentation for next year though. I cannot recall ever seeing a CBC broadcast where they told me a goalies height and weight!

Board play is also phenominal... my last game was like 25 shots to 13 vs San Jose.

On to Vancouver!!!

I'd like to see an intermission report where they go over the other playoff games!

Board play is nice, but i'd like to see it easier for guys with good board play ability to be able to break out of a pin with the puck.

I'd also like to see a whistle if the puck gets frozen, instead of it going on forever.....

I get an early 1 goal lead and then Henrick Sedin and Vancouver go to work.. Sedin gets 2 goals, 2 assists and we lose 5-1.

Shots were, me 25 Vancouver 23

here's a goal I probably could never score with manual passing...... I'll admit also that I have the CPU goalie reaction slider on 0 on the All Star Level, but even at that they seem to react mostly realistically......

This game simply doesn't hold my interest for longer than a dozen or so games, primarily because it's just too easy to skate up the ice in to the opponent's zone. Then, it's as if the computer goes in to lock down and plays more aggressively. I want there to be more competitive balance with this game. Board play is indeed a great addition, but now I desperately want to see where dumping and chasing make a difference, and there's more battles between the two blue lines. It's a fantastic game, don't get me wrong, but it's just not quite there in my estimation.

It's tough for me to do on AS.. but I also think since I'm playing in the playoffs, the game has really tightened up. Board play and dumping and chasing has been much more prevalent in the playoff games I've played thus far.

I just love hockey though and the end to end action..

Mason gets his 3rd shutout of the playoffs and we beat Vancouver 3-0 (one was an empty netter).

Now we head back Vancouver with the series tied 2-2.

Vancouver outshoots me (might be the first game I've had that happen since playing NHL 10) and win 3-1 to take control of this series, 3-2.

Back to St. Louis where we have our work cutout for us.

We can't beat them in the real playoffs, and now they own us in NHL '10.

I figured i'd ask this here rather then starting a new thread, though maybe it deserves one.....

Does anyone on here play ice hockey? Like, with real skates and no controller? :D

Just curious...... Just back from my work league (another Hawks win, oh yeah!) and realized I don't recall seeing any discussion on playing hockey.... (or more likely I'm usually drunk after the games and don't remember any conversations)

Beer league, once a week. A bunch of thirty and fortysomething get their laces together and we go at it. Hitting and everything, all in good fun.

My work league is non-contact. The refs do a good job of keeping us safe. ;) There's definately beer at the bar after though, which is really the whole point of it.

Wide skill range too. Schleps like me, and former OHL/QMJHLers who now work for CRA.

I just wish I started playing longer then 5 years ago. I would have a better shot at keeping up with some of these guys!
