Don't worry, greg - if Lost has taught us anything it's that JJ Abrams and Co. have no problem making up weird sh!t to keep things interesting.
What's the thing on at 8? Is that some kind of clips show, I assume? I am going to watch it, but we will see if I can get back into it. It's been such a long time!

At 7 (East Cost snob!! ) they're showing a recap. Required viewing or I'll forget everything lol!

Agreed. Great opening to the final season. Glad I watched the recap show, too, as I'd forgotten a few details.
I love that this show is demanding and isn't afraid to go out on a limb. It may very well fall completely apart, but I have enjoyed the journey more than any other drama I've ever watched.
So, what do we have now. The "what if" timeline, where the plane didn't crash and we'll see how crappy their lives would have been sans island, and the "real" timeline, where the bomb just sent them back to the present, but still on the island but with a new set of goonies to keep them company?

But they couldn't just do the "bomb worked so the airplane landed safely in LAX and now we get to see how crappy their lives where" timeline.
I think that would get boring very quickly. I'm much more interested in seeing how the two timelines interact.
I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and see where they go. The show has made some wrong turns over the years, but they also have often taken things that initially looked weak and made them into terrific storylines.
Jack's hair is different. Hurley is lucky. The timeline diverged in '77 after the detonation, not at that moment when the plane wold have crashed. Maybe that's obvious to others, but I just had to have it pointed out to me on a blog! Interesting...
I'm laughing at all the people today who jumped back on the Lost train after missing a season or two because they expected 16 episodes of "answer all my questions" and now the are all pissed off today. A show like Lost is not for those people, they should be content with shows like NCIS or the Biggest Loser.
I like the fact that Lost asks you think and fill in the blanks, like when we saw the kids from the plane last night, there was no "hey you're the kids from the plane" moment from one of the characters.

Those are also known as 'plot holes'.
I'm just kidding, I know what you mean. Add my wife to that list you mentioned, she might as well have been watching the show in Chinese for all she understood last night.
