The first review is in and it gets a 10/10

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/v ... eview.html

Conclusion:

"All told, Modern Warfare 2 crosses into the must-have category of video games effortlessly. It offers an unmatched shooter experience, a compelling story mode, a slick package of mini missions and a multiplayer which is pretty much unparalleled in depth. It's sure to satisfy the demands of its fan base, and anyone who considers themselves a fan of shooters in general should definitely pick up a copy. It may be debatable as to whether Modern Warfare 2 is objectively the best release of 2009, but it's certainly the finest game in its genre, as well one of the truly great games of this or indeed any year."

Mr. Nick Cowen should have just uploaded a video of himself deep throating a dildo with "Infinity Ward" scribbled on the side.

Stood in line with the rest of the geeks tonight and just got through three and a half single-player levels before going to bed. I never saw the entirety of that airport video - it's the third level in the game - after playing through it.....man....that's some f***ed up s***. Sorry, I can't be any more eloquent. Technically amazing and powerful but messed up nonetheless. You get the option to skip this right before the game even starts so if you're squeamish or were the slightest bit upset by the youtube video I'd do so.

Still, enjoying the hell out of the game and am forcing myself to go to bed otherwise I'd be playing it all night.

EDIT: Oh yeah, you can choose not to shoot any civilians but you also can't shoot the other terrorists...in the airport level that is. The rest of the game - shoot all the terrorists you want! ;)

Thanks for the early impressions Macca. I drove down the street to Game Stop but saw the 300+ people waiting in line and decided that I'd rather go to bed:) Hopefully they'll have my reserved copy there tomorrow!

Sweet!....After watching my nephew play GTA and shoot everyone but scumbags that should be a nice change of pace...
Dont look at me. His mother greens lights it in the face of my objections. She never did listen to me.

Im getting the CoDMW 360 with the 256 drive...I have had new 360's but always kept the drive. Whats the accepted method of moving stuff over? Is this going to hurt with the Live account?

Well amazon screwed up my order for this one.

I selected and paid for release day shipping, but today I got an email saying the game hadn't shipped yet and the extra charges would be refunded. If they try to stick me with 5-9 day shipping whenever they do ship it to me I am going to cancel my order with them.

I upgraded to a 120 Elite earlier this year - you can get a cable that transfers the save files and so on from your old hard-drive to the new one. Unfortunately, it didn't come with the Elite so I just went to Best Buy, 'bought' another stand-alone 120 Gig HD which comes packaged with the cable and the software, transfered my data to the new drive and then returned the stand-alone HD + cable. Pretty easy. The rest of the stuff is linked to your gamertag.

Took the day off work today (had that planned from a few months ago :) ) and am enjoying the hell out of the single-player. Some of the level designs are unfuckingbelievable. I'm not sure if they got rid of the infinite spawn closets for bad guys - the first Favela level is insane.

I'll be interested to hear impressions from guys who played through Uncharted 2, which amazed me with its graphics and was just about perfect for me from a gaming skill standpoint. I'm not really an online guy, but if the single player experience matches up with Uncharted, then I'll be looking to grab it over the weekend.

From reviews I've read, single player is anywhere from 4 to 6 hours long. I wouldn't grab it for just single player. It's a rental at best. The rave reviews I've seen all point to Spec Ops and Multiplayer as the major selling points.

It won't matchup with Uncharted 2. I expect an intense SP experience but it will be shorter and below Uncharted 2's bar.

I picked up the PS3 version for $37 after the $20 gift card offer today and a $3 off coupon I had at TRU. I'm looking to play the single player and then turnaround quickly to get all/most of my money back.

As with most times I fire up a new title on PS3, my first impression for the first 10 minutes is....please wait...installing system update...please wait

Wouldn't you have been better off just renting the game from Blockbusters for a $6.99 1 week rental?

I reeeeaaallly don't get the "how does it stack up against Uncharted2" stuff. It isn't even remotely in the same category as UC2, and the comparison makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Can't compare this to Uncharted 2, they're totally different games.

Why can't you campare the quality, fun, online experience from one to the other?

Sure they're very different games, but these two games are this holiday's marquee lineup. They're the big budget titles and IMO I don't see why people may not want to measure them up against one another.

I dunno, I feel it's difficult to compare an FPS to a 3rd Person Action-Platformer. I think they're both amazing but in different ways, during Uncharted 2 I was beaming from ear to ear, in MW2 I'm white-knuckled gripping the controller but still having a blast.

Anyway, if anyone wants to play some multiplayer MW2 tonight shoot me an invite....and then have fun shooting my lame ass. :)

How? Not even taking into consideration that Blockbusters in my area NEVER have the new games in stock, it costs $7.99 here to rent. The $20 gift card TRU gave me for buying the game there is as good as spent already with two children. I'm actually hoping to make a profit selling it on ebay (can't imagine I can't get more than $40 for it). So instead of paying $8 plus tax to rent I'm going to make $5-10.
