I'm on Pro too. I think this game is great and a substantial upgrade over 09 due to the things Scoop mentioned, the separation of human/CPU sliders, the variation in penalties, etc.MizzouRah wrote:Yes, which is why I think on Pro it plays a more even game..Gangrel wrote:Anyone finding the CPU goalie on All Star to be better then your guys?
I have reaction time down and screen effect up for both, but at equal levels. I'm thinkin I may put my goalie back on the defaults....
I'm averaging 2 goals a game and the AI is scoring 4 or more on my goalie!

I'm turning in my All-Star sticks for Pro sticks.
There were times yesterday when watching on TV I felt the same thing!

Made the switch to Pro, and the game just feels a whole lot better. The CPU doesn't play a perfect brand of hockey anymore. It's a little messier, passes aren't on all target, they make judgement errors leading to two on tow, three on two, etc. plays. They still pass with precision at times, but now the goals at least don't seem as cheap. Most of all, the poke checks by the CPU feel more realistic. Before, I was getting my pocket picked just about every time I took the puck across the blue line. Not sure why, but penalties were way down. There were only three called as opposed to six when I played Detroit on All-Star.
I lost a nail biter to the Red Wings in the opener 5-4. Shots were even at 30 a piece with 10 minute periods. Puck possession favored Detroit, but just by a little bit. Whereas before on All-Star, I felt I couldn't get anything set up in the offensive zone, I now and able to make three or four passes and work the puck for a better shot on goal. It felt great to score on a slap shot! This was without a doubt my most enjoyable game to date.

Fully agree.. I love Pro difficulty. I wish the starting season rosters would get here so I can finally start my Be A GM mode!sportdan30 wrote:Made the switch to Pro, and the game just feels a whole lot better. Per an EA dev:
Here are the changes for the tuning update that was just posted (V1.02 for offline changes):
-Goalie and shot tuning to reduce exploit goals.
-Increased frequency of interference calls.
-Increased chance of CPU fight if user instigates aggression post-whistle (offline only)
-Tuning to make teamplay ratings a bit easier (Be A Pro, EASHL & ranked OTP)
-Acceleration and puck control tuning (EASHL & ranked OTP). The puck carrier will now have slightly less agility and acceleration than other players and will lose the puck a bit more easily.
-Increase poke check effectiveness (EASHL & ranked OTP)
-Slight decrease skating speed when stick lifting (EASHL & ranked OTP)
-Increased chance of unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for fight instigation while the clock is running (online only)
The first update happened before the launch, so these are the differences between the demo or the un-updated disk version (so V1.00 does not have these changes, but V1.01 and after do):
-Increase the effect of the Pass Accuracy slider
-Increase speed loss doing the Leg Kick
-Tuning to reduce effectiveness of an exploit goal using slap shots near the goal line
-Move default shot aim further inside the posts to reduce the number of posts and missed shots
-Reduce interference penalties
-Increase effectiveness of poke check to dig puck out of boardplay
-Passing improvements (improved assistance for speed of a pass that has not target)
-Fixed bug in the effect of toughness on intimidation
This isn't everything we currently have planned to do, there are a few changes building on top of these already in progress.

I'd like to change up my sliders during my season, however when I go to save the settings, I get the option of saving the season instead, and not just the settings. I'm worried that if I save the season as I'm being instructed, it'll overwrite my season. Has anyone else made changes to their settings during the season? If so, what's the right way to go about doing so?
These guys are amazing. The degree to which they support this game with updates and patches, and also last year's version too, is top notch. Was there ever a patch for FIFA last year? Maybe one? These guys show so much passion for their product it's amazing. Kudos to these guys that make us all so happy! Thank you, guys!
If you're inside your Be a GM mode, there isn't a way to save your settings other then saving your GM mode. This also means that your settings attached to your Profile (that is loaded at the main menu) won't be changed........sportdan30 wrote:I'd like to change up my sliders during my season, however when I go to save the settings, I get the option of saving the season instead, and not just the settings. Thanks Gangrel. I think I figured it out last night. Now, I just have to find out where to change to the new tuner settings.
I'm currently playing on Pro, and am 5-1 in my early season. I'm not seeing the all out attack the CPU would put on me like they did on All-Star. I've bumped up AI learning to half way, but I'm thinking I'll have to max it out as the CPU is only averaging 1-2 goals a game. Conversely, I'm putting anywhere between 3-5 goals a game on the CPU. It's difficult right now finding the right balance.

a little help please
A little help if you will.
Im a hockey novice...cant stand to watch it on tv but attend a handful of AHL games each year because I love the in person experience and of course love to watch Cornell play.
Picked this up so I can play as my Syracuse Crunch in season mode.
Was going to try default pro with latest tuning 1.02 or whatever its called. I bumped down CPU and user pass accuracy by 1 and increased interceptions by 1 as well (is it necessary?)
How in the hell do I do faceoffs....
Are line changes automatic? I hope because I cant find a setting and not knowledgable enuff to want to do them myself.
Any penalty tweaks?
Anything else???
Thanks for tolerating my stupidity.
Tony

Game play is buttery smooth and looks absolutely fabulous. You might get a little frame rate lag on goal replays, but it's very very minimal. It contols like a dream as well.JRod wrote:Do some guys here have this for the PS3? If so, how's the control and graphics on the PS3? Any PS3 related problems?
