True dat!...I think NCAA07? had blocked fg and xp and kept having them.RobVarak wrote:Actually, knowing EA it will probably happen on 30% of PAT's.Zeppo wrote:
The crowd is better, but they still could do a lot more IMHO. One thing I really liked was that I blocked the first pat attempt and I don't know if I've ever seen a blocked kick in Madden. It may never happen again to me, but now it's stuck in my brain that it can be done.
Madden 10 - Will they prove us wrong?

The one thing I really like about Madden 10 is that it's just fun to play as the cutscenes add to that. It's no different than the simplistic crowd or ambulance cutscenes in the older Maddens.
The other thing I like is that forcing the ball into coverage usually results in a turnover. There's still the super receiver and suction catch but it's not as prevalent as in previous Maddens.
The one thing i've always done is separate the game from reality. Madden will never be an exact representation of what takes place on the field on NFL Sunday. I'm cool with that.

Yes... Im with ya 100% on that.Rodster wrote: The one thing i've always done is separate the game from reality. Madden will never be an exact representation of what takes place on the field on NFL Sunday. I'm cool with that.
The game will probably never be a 100% true sim but as long as it resembles NFL football and, even more importantly, is fun to play. Im happy.
Can't tell a whole lot from a 1 min per quarter demo, but I'm not sure I really like those cutscenes happening so quickly after a play - I want to see the play finish.. doesn't seem like it does this.
I'll wait for impressions before picking it up.
I'm ho hum about it, maybe I expected it to blow me away.. but it is just a demo.

I haven't read this whole thread and don't dare tread over at OS, but I just got back from vacation and downloaded the demo. 3 things comes to mind.
3. This game plays nothing like any past Madden games, I really can't comprehend how anyone says this is just like 09.
2. The game speed and stretched ratings are a real difference maker. Also like the cut scenes. But my personal biggest nit pick WR / DB play is finally improved (not perfect) but improved.
1. Most importantly it is fun to play. That's all that matters to me in the end. I can see myself playing this for a while and I have said that about Madden since 05. Honestly i don't even want to play NCAA after trying the demo.
It is what I thought it would be a solid effort, in many areas above what has been done in any game before and in other areas still lagging. But for me the fun factor is back in the demo at least and that's nice since this is not based on the final build of the game.

I'm less than impressed with the demo, granted I only have the 1-min. qtr. version. The AI seems solid, the pocket passing is good, and the graphics are nice. However, I feel like it's animation heavy and the control is not as responsive as I would like. It seems as if doing well is more a function of cerebral work as opposed to what is done with the controller. I like the way you have to play smart and go through progressions as QB in order to be successful, but I do not like that the "arcade" aspect with the controller is not as prominent. Hopefully the final product is better. Also, I think bumping up the game speed will make the game better as well. I wish you could change game speed in the xbl demo.

I think you're in for a disappointment as momentum plays a factor, they even turned it down a notch apparently. This is what the "sim" crowd and the 2K fans wanted.
It takes a lot of getting use too, catch a crossing pattern and not many guys can turn on a dime and head up field. I actually think it controls well for the momentum aspect, I always felt out of control in the 2K game on defense and I don't here. I like that I can break out of animations.
I like that you're more agile when not jamming on the turbo button or using right stick moves. The games takes a whole lot of getting use to for regular Madden players.
I'm actually shocked it is getting a lot of negative buzz but their is a certain group who will pan it no matter what but man this is the best Madden I have ever played and that's from a demo build. I guess cause the running animations aren't exactly like the APF ones the game is the "same old" Madden.
I think it is a lot of fun, it has the addictive feel to it for me, which is nice. I think the passing game is very nice, and I bet a bunch of people will start bitching about throwing a lot of INT because you can't make the same type of passes. But throws behind receivers, balls going threw thier hands or off their fingertips is sweet.
The running game takes some retraining too as you have to use the turbo at the right spots instead of jamming it. I still think run blocking is not as good as it should be, but it is better then before.
This is what the hard core crowd asked for and these are the first steps to giving it to us. I just wonder now that it plays like an NFL game if people are really going to like it.

There was someone over at OS bitching about the fact that a thrown ball was spiraling in the wrong direction. I think that for those people the adage 'Get a Life' needs to be stamped on the inside of their eyelids.Danimal wrote:I think you're in for a disappointment as momentum plays a factor, they even turned it down a notch apparently. Ive played a few more games and I hate to jinx it as it is only a demo but hot damn its pretty freaking sweet.
I resigned myself several years ago that there is never going to be a perfect football game, or anything close for that matter. As long as it's fun to play, resembles what I see on tv, and I can be moderately successful, I can live with it.XXXIV wrote:Yes... NCAA 10 has already delivered that and it appears Madden will as well.

I think the reason it will be more successful then NCAA is the Web / iPhone component. Not having to turn on my 360 to make a trade, see information or as commish do commish stuff will make it far better.
Only problem is we have too many Bears fans we'll have to hold a lottery for team picks lol.
Well I will pony up to start one in a week ro so if people are interested since I didn't make the invite list on OS
