Okami (Wii)

Post by fanatic »

Anyone pick this up yet? I was thinking about grabbing GTAIV for the PS3, but am having crazy thoughts about renting it at a further date and picking up Okami instead.

It just looks so well done artistically. The brush stroke control looks highly immersive, although the combat controls seem subpar. The reviews are glowing and part of me would rather crash at 1am with visions of Japan inspired landscapes running through my head vs. the sound of some poor guy screaming as I run him over with my car.

Any impressions? Also, didn't mean to put down GTA...I have a love/hate relationship with that series I guess. But from the sounds of it (JRod I think), the dark violent nature has been toned down.

Not to threadjack, but I wouldn't say the series' "dark violent nature" has been toned down at all in GTA IV. If anything, those shadows have deepened. If you meant to imply that the violence is less gratuitous - then yes, it is. Consequences weigh heavier in GTA IV's scales than in any other game in the series.

Yeah....that's what I was getting at. Violence is ok - but the depth is of more importance. Thanks for your thoughts.

And don't worry about the threadjack...considering nobody is playing Okami!

For what it's worth I really want to check Okami out. At this point there's so much else to play that I'll wait until a lull in releases and a price drop to $20.

I think that's where I'm at too...Nice to know that gem of a game is there when I'm ready. Between The Show, Pro Yakyu Spirits, GTA, PES(Wii) and soon EURO 2008, I won't have a lot of extra time for a 40 hour adventure game.

Wii version seems to have brighter/more vibrant color than the PS2 version, but the PS2 color seems to fit the theme more (water color).

Anyway, the game is pretty easy, just long.
