Thats a great suggestion and I don't know why I haven't tried it before now.RallyMonkey wrote:I will say that i think you should turn off the strike zone and break indicator. I have found it is far to much easy to dominate with those aids on.
I would LOVE to see CPU score variations like that. Hopefully I'll get there with a little tweaking. This game is worth it.RallyMonkey wrote:I have had outstanding games lately (play with the Red Sox) to the tune of an 11-10 extra inning loss, a 4-2 win, an 8-2 loss (Beckett got lit up which i loved to see as he was way to dominant on default AS and HOF) and am currently heading to the 9th against the Yankees tied at 5.

I looked all over for a way to turn off the break indicator and couldn't find it. Turned strike zone off, but it doesn't really matter since after every pitch a faint gray outline of the zone comes up any way (then fades), and unless you close your eyes there's really no way not to remember its edges exactly.
Going to run a little 14-game Pirates season with default HOF and pitch count all the way up. Had a good 1st game, lost 3-1 to the Reds, with my starter making it to the 7th inning. 6 hits a side. I drew 2 walks, gave up none.

New rosters are out and their are no equipment issues.
Of course Knights roster which will probably be 100% better then the official ones are suppose to come out Weds. If you want real minor league players you should wait for those.

I tried some games with classic pitching and no pitching cursor. It had some things going for it, but generating walks was not one of them. Overall, for a game that can veer into overly spectator-ish territory, it's way too hands off for me. The only way I can get walks is with a scary enough CPU offense, so I'm back to where I started before all this mucking about with eh devs' suggestions. CPU offensive sliders cracked to the max (now including their discipline slider too), All human hitting sliders to minumum (now including plate vision) except for power (left at default), pitching command sliders minimized for both sides, and pitch count all the way to the right. It feels just about perfect.
New rosters out today, time to start a franchise for real.

I juice up the CPU offense (+15 power, -5 contact) and have great games. I also walk players. This is with Meter On, Zone on and pitcher accuracy to 5. I still can't get the CPU to walk but that's been discussed before.

16-5?!?!? Wow. I wonder what we're doing different. I'm now 28-31 with the Tribe. (All Star default.)snaz16 wrote:I would be curious to see what the Mets are doing in everyones league so far, whether you are using them or not. I'm about 21 games in using the Indians, and I'm at 16-5 , All Star default. The Mets are 17-4. Maybe they made this team too strong?
I can't suck that much. And not that I'm complaining, I'm glad it's challenging for me, compared to what some of you guys are going through with it being too easy.

By the way, I REALLY like guess pitch with no feedback. Can't use guess pitch to cheat on steals that way (by knowing if a fastball is coming), and there's the added challenge of recognizing that you've guessed correctly.
I hit three home runs in one game with Jack Wilson last night. The Giants are terrible.

Thats the way I played last years game and I loved it. I've been using the new guess pitch because it does not show exact location like it did in 07, but I can see myself switching to no feedback to heighten the difficulty.Slumberland wrote:By the way, I REALLY like guess pitch with no feedback.
I don't want to get too excited because its way early but I just had the CPU score 5, 9 and 4 with these sliders. The only tweak I made was to bump up CPU hit quality a couple of notches. Turning off the pitch marker is also a making a difference. With just the feedback from the Dualshock its a TON of fun trying to paint the corners.RallyMonkey wrote: Currently i am playing AS with the "Perfect Slider Set" from OS
I agree with you on the spectator feel and I *like* using meter pitching, but Classic pitching with all visuals off DOES work for me to generate walks....with some of my pitchers, at least. With Farnsworth, for example, I can leave it over the middle and still throw balls. It also leads to more pitches ending up in the zone, allowing the CPU to hit a little better. I would go crazy if I had to play all baseball games this way because I agree with you that at that point I'm far more 'watching' than playing, but I'm going back and forth between the Show and 2k8 and 2k8 is an absolute blast as far as pitching goes.Slumberland wrote:I tried some games with classic pitching and no pitching cursor. At this point I'm pretty happy I have both games. I played a couple games of each the last two nights.
Lucky dog! I wish 2k would get off their asses.GTHobbes wrote:I downloaded the new official roster last night and fired up a new season with the Cards, and they had all 3 of the Cards' new rookies on the team -- Barton, McLellan and Rico Washington. Knight's and Jim's rosters are up for download. Only a couple of the AL divisions don't have the faces and attributes updated. The entire NL is complete, with full minor leaguers. Yes, including the Cardinals! I'm FINALLY ready to start my season.GTHobbes wrote:I downloaded the new official roster last night and fired up a new season with the Cards, and they had all 3 of the Cards' new rookies on the team -- Barton, McLellan and Rico Washington. You mean only a few of the AL MINOR LEAGUES don't have faces and attributes correct? That was my understanding, I have not downloaded them yet.sportdan30 wrote:Knight's and Jim's rosters are up for download. From what I gather, here is what is not complete:
Attributes for the minor leaguers in the AL Central and AL West.
The names have been changed however, including height, weight and handedness.
Faces are not complete for the minor leaguers of those divisions.
Attribute changes have not been done for the MLB players (not sure if that just means AL Central and AL West).

From reading over the notes at OS, it sounds like there are a lot of duplicate players littered around Knight's beta release. If his final one isn't out by the time I finish my Pirates mini-season, I'll go with SCEA's. The chances of my playing enough years to have single-A players make any impact are slim to nuts anyhoo.
I really couldn't be happier with my current slider setup. Lost a wild one a couple nights ago, 11-9 with lots of lead changes and three unintentional walks by me, and am now in the middle of a tight contest, down 2-1 in the 5th with my only run having been walked in during an inning with zero hits.

Ahhh, wasn't aware of the duplicate players. That's not good. I suppose I'll start a season with SCEA's then. I've been putting it off hoping for that perfect roster, but if I'm only playing a season I'm not too worried. I guess I can always use their roster to create some top prospect minor leaguers.

I decided to go with the SCEA rosters myself because I don't care that much about minor leaguers.
I'm sure this is a placebo effect, but since getting the new rosters I have not once seen an issue with the floaty throws I was having on turning DP's. also the outfielders are not getting to everything in the gap like they were before.
I've been having some good games and I'm seeing a lot of hits I haven't seen before. Last night I saw a double down the left field line, the thing that was unique for me is it wasn't a hammered line drive it was just one driven into the corner that landed on the track that the LF couldn't get to.

It might not be the placebo effect. I remember a post over on OS a few weeks back by one of the SCEA guys who said that some of the issues that had been reported (like OF's getting to too many balls) might be able to be addressed in the roster updates. Maybe they actually did something...?
I'm still addicted to my RTTS Career so I can't really comment on this yet.
