USC! Seriously though, the Trojans have a young team that has been playing well together coming into the final stretch of the season so I'm praying they go deep. They played two VERY close back to back games early on against Kansas #5 (12/02 59-55) and Memphis #2 (12/04 62-58 OT) and absolutely killed #11 Stanford last week 77-64 going 11-7 in a tough Pac-10 conference (including a win and a loss to #3 UCLA). Probably looking at a 7th or 8th seed so not a cinderella team by any stretch but watch out!
George Mason looked good against WM on Monday (yes its William and Mary) so maybe they'll go back to the final four. If MSU can get things together I like them too although Neitzel hasn't played well lately.

I'm glad Cuse didn't make the NCAAs... now they can ditch the NIT and be the inaugural winner of the College Basketball Invitational. Gotta love that Best of 3 finals format.

I'm Pitt alumni. Looking forward to the semi-finals in the Big East Tourney tomorrow, as each win gets us a chance at a better seed, but I've learned not to get my hopes up for anything past the Sweet 16. They play good defense, but not good enough to stop the elite programs...

Re: USC looks pretty good
Tomorrow night's game will tell me a lot about how good USC is at this point in the season. UCLA knocked off Cal the way they should have done last week and are looking to win the Pac-10 tourney so it is a great test for the trojans. If Davon Jefferson continues to play well and crashes the heck outta the boards with Taj Gibson then we have a shot. Heck, we out-rebounded the Stanford and Lopez twins (best rebounding team in the pac 1- by far) last week so we aren't that bad.joeandspiro wrote:I think USC does have a good chance to make a run in the tournament. Mayo is awesome. They do have a rebounding weakness though.
They usually can't consistently score enough to get past the sweet 16. This year is a little different with 3 players that can create their own offense (Young, Fields, and Blair). Losing Mike Cook really hurt as he would have been a 4th scorer. Free throws are still an issue.Leadfoot5 wrote:I'm Pitt alumni. 7 trips to the Big East Championship in the last 8 years is an amazing accomplishment, but it's time to win a second and at least make the elite 8. Sam Young gets better every game and is so fun to watch. If they all come back next year it would make them preseason top 10 for sure.
Illinois is trying to do the improbable and win 4 straight at the Big Ten Tourney. They are the first 10th seed to make it to the semifinal even though they once made to the finals as an 11th seed. Once the team loses the season is done, only way to get into the NCAAs is to win the conference tourney. They play Minnesota today, they've beat them twice this year, but they would have to play Wisconsin or Michigan St tomorrow so its very unlikely. I've been down on the two seniors Randle and Pruitt all season, but those guys have really stepped up these last two games. But the freshmen, McCamey, Davis, Tisdale, and Jordan, (MJ's son)really carried the team last night against Purdue

Well, Pitt certainly made a statement in the Big East Tourney. I'm hoping they can ride this momentum for a few more weeks!Leebo33 wrote:...Leadfoot5 wrote:I'm Pitt alumni. Georgia was 4-12 in the SEC this year. Now they have won 3 straight in the SEC tournament after winning TWO games on Saturday. Thats amazing enough right there. I told my wife and a couple of my friends the other day that I felt Georgia could win the SEC tournament even though they were so bad this year as the SEC is having an awful year over all.
Of course if they beat Ark today they are in the dance, if not, they will likely not even make the NIT.

Wow, Tennessee not only beats NC, BUT UCLA. I'd take that bet. That's a lot to ask from a team that can't make free throws...dbdynsty25 wrote:Give me Tennessee over UCLA in the final. Mark it down.
UCLA over NC in the final. It's all chalk this year.
It's weird not having my Salukis in it this year.

I'm jumping off the nearest bridge if KU goes down to UNLV. You heard it here first.macsomjrr wrote:K Love versus Hansbrough in the paint is going to a fun match-up if it comes to pass...
No way Tennessee is going all the way to the final four considering the teams they would have to beat to get there.
Biggest upset? Kansas gets taken out by UNLV in the second round. You heard it here first.
