Hi all:

Frequent readers of the Sports Reviewers and Thunderpuck forums know that Hrudey32 is an absolute virtual hockey god. The guy puts ridiculous hours into tweaking slider settings for NHL 2K3 to create a video game experience that mirrors reality.

Well, Anthony (Hrudey) has really nailed it with his latest settings, along with goalie edits by another virtual puck god, GrogTheNailer. I hope I don´t violate Hrudey copyright laws, but these settings are too damn good to keep a secret. Here they are, verbatim from the man:

*All slider settings start all the way to the left and I will tell you how many clicks to the right to move the slider.

Grog´s goalie edits.....edit the following all to 0...thats right....zero these attributes down to nothing for each goalie in the league

speed
anticipation
lateral movement
quickness
reflexes
vision
glove

theses attributes should all be edited to zero.

Yep, I bought NHL 2K3 for the second time. Couldn´t resist with all of the great playoff hockey on the tube these nights.

The game is absolutely awesome with these slider settings. The only changes I have made are not zooming in the camera one click, using auto line changes and using auto shooting. My 37-year-old mind still can´t balance aiming players and shots at the same time.

These settings produce a ton of variety. I´ve had a 2-1 game, was blown out 5-0 by Dallas and took Colorado to a tight 5-3 win at Chicago so far today.

Check these sliders out. Can´t recommend them enough if you want realistic hockey.

A big bow of respect and admiration to Hrudey and Grog. We´re not worthy!

Excellent, thanks for posting these PK. I was just about to put this game up on ebay, but I will give these a shot first.
PS - Is this the kind of info that could easily be transefered online if one has the Action Replay for Xbox?

Don:

As usual, I´m clueless. I don´t have an Action Replay.

But if you can transfer codes and roster data through the AR, I guess there´s no reason why you couldn´t transfer a roster with goalie edits and a saved options file. They´re saved files on the Xbox hard drive just like and updated roster file.
Yes, it could if somebody saved these settings and then uploaded their game save.

In fact there are some VERY GOOD game saves available right now for Action Replay. A user by the name of FlyinFin has uploaded some outstanding saves with all of the Roster Moves (to include created players), 2003 Cup Playoffs (with updated rosters), settings, and the whole shebang.

If you have AR I highly recommend checking them out.

Quick follow-up on these slider settings: While the game speed of 1 may turn off some people, it is realistic. And the zoom camera angle definitely heightens the sense of speed.

Hrudey prefers a one-click zoom-in adjustment, while I prefer neutral or one-click zoom out. I like to see my wings, centers and defensive partners for passes to and from the center.

These sliders are excellent!

Take care,

Wow, I gotta try these out. I have been playing this a ton at default and really enjoying it. This is by far my favorite hockey game ever. I love the realism, it´s definitely unparalled.
