Burnout - Paradise Impressions (including demo)
Anyone try this demo yet? What a fun game! The driving model seems
spot on for this type of game and I like the wide open feel it now has. The graphics are impressive and I think the full game is going to be great. It's fun to just explore the city and look for shortcuts and jumps. I think I much prefer this game to NFS Street. I don't want to spend hours picking out my rims....I just want to race!!

Not my kind of game but this is notable for the developers saying unabashedly that they used PS3 as the lead platform and ported to X360.
Both get 720p and 60fps with same level of filtering on both. From the demos, some people believe they see some minor advantages on the PS3 side.
It won't necessarily be a trend as the Criterion guys said they won't apologize for their decision, despite the current market.
Many people believe, however, that their approach of going PS3 to X360 will have better results (from the standpoint of both versions being good) than the other way around.
Or the more costly thing that Infinity Ward did with COD4 where they claim they had separate teams for each version.

That's been one of the best things about the series. Sure there's catch up logic which is a given but that's one of the strengths in the Burnout series. One of the reason why it works so well is because the game makes you want to drive as fast as humanly possible and the AI is right there with you.btmmayor wrote:If the ridiculous catch-up logic thats been in all of the previous Burnout titles is still there I'm staying far away from it.
And because of that you encounter the AI which is what makes Burnout, Burnout. At least that's where EA decided to take the series to after Burnout 2 which is when EA bought Criterion.
Was Burnout the one that had all the crashes? I'm going to skip this new one because I like crashing for points a lot more than arcade racing.

Burnout. Burnout 2 and Burnout Domination (most recent PS2 game) all concentrated on driving fast, driving wreckless and crashes.JRod wrote:Was Burnout the one that had all the crashes? I'm going to skip this new one because I like crashing for points a lot more than arcade racing.
When EA bought Criterion they came out with Burnout 3 Takedown and introduced racing into the mix. It's been that way ever since with the exception of Burnout Domination.
Thanks, I got confused. This game felt a lot more like Need for Speed where you raced around a town then Burnout.Rodster wrote:Burnout. Agreed, but it's still well done because EA still has given Criterion leeway as to how they do their Burnout games.JRod wrote:Thanks, I got confused. You guys may know this already,.... I did find one race in the demo, but its not very long. It starts at one of the traffic lights (not sure which one) but I do know that it finishes near the country club. If I play today I will try to find out what street corner it starts at. Fun demo!!

I like this new direction! Since Need For Speed went back the Street Racing/UNderground style...this game gets the nod from me.JRod wrote:Thanks, I got confused. If you check the radar/map there's icons for the stunt and race intersections. It is absolutely insane racing into oncoming traffic and then every few seconds flicking your eyes down to the map to see where to turn on the map to get to your destination. Insane in a good way.HockeyJock wrote:jLp vAkEr0 wrote:Demo was good, but I wanted to race.

Got any legitimate links to those claims? That seems to be exactly 180 degrees from most developers since the PS3 is still decidedly the more difficult platform to code on.....wco81 wrote:Many people believe, however, that their approach of going PS3 to X360 will have better results (from the standpoint of both versions being good) than the other way around.

We need to give "The Show" a try online. I'm about to trade it in soon since I'm not playing it as much.
I would love to play it online again but I got tired of the disconnects and laggy play.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:Dan,sportdan30 wrote:I'll be interested in gaming online with this title.
