Mayweather vs. Hatton
I hope Ricky can catch the running man and inflict pain. I cannot express the disdain I have for Mayweather.
Go Ricky!
Go Ricky!

I just hope that mayweather will be forced to go toe-to-toe. I really want to see how mayweather will react to a 'true' headhunter. That is why I really hope that after this fight, whether or not mayweather wins or not, i feel that the best possible fight we be - -
Floyd Mayweather vs. Miguel Cotto
with the appropriate title - - "MAN UP"
It's time for these fighters to go head to head. Even a Mayweather-Margarito match would get a draw from the public after seeing Margarito's last fight. I just want to see how mayweather will react if put up against the 'corner' and forced to go toe-to-toe. On top of that, it would be interesting to see how he would react to a 'cut'...
I don't have any disdain towards mayweather, but his antics have got to go...but i guess every sport has to have that one character that begs to be hated...aka - duke in basketball.
Looking forward to this fight!!!

I've been jacked for this fight for more than a month. Man, I hope Hatton can catch PBF and kick his ass.
And Phi, you're spot on: I would love to see the winner of this fight take on Cotto, especially if it's Mayweather. His last two fights have been superb, against Judah and Mosley. One of the most exciting fighters in the world.
A Mayweather victory would be bad for boxing, period. Does anyone like this guy? Does anyone enjoy watching his snoozefests disguised as fights? I'm a boxing purist, yet I still think this guy is boring in the ring.
Sadly, the hype for this fight is minimal, at least around here, and I think the reason is two-fold. One, people are sick of Mayweather's "me, me, me, bling, bling, bling" act, and two, the guy put on one of the most boring major fights in recent history for his coming-out party against De La Hoya a year ago. Not a good way to win fans.
Regardless, I'm stoked for this fight. GO RICKY!
Take care,
PK

Hatton has to be aggressive from the get go and set his pace on the fight. Now matter how frustrated he might get and no matter how many times Mayweather makes him miss, he has to keep calm. He can't just keep running in throwing crazy punches, because Floyd will pick him off all night long. I hope the Brit wins but the longer the fight goes, the more Mayweather will control the fight.

Go Ricky Hatton !
Couple of the guys at work know him, as he lives in Hyde which is just east of Manchester. Apparently he's a top bloke out of the ring as well, no airs and graces.
I reckon he'll do Mayweather then fight de la Hoya. Once that's done with, he'll retire - he always said he'd do it at 30.

I'd rather see Ricky fight Cotto, even though the paycheck would be much larger if he fought the Golden Boy.
A Cotto-Hatton fight would be a classic, old-fashioned brawl. Beating De La Hoya wouldn't hold much esteem since the Golden Boy's skills are widely acknowledged to be on the decline. Cotto seems to be peaking, so Ricky would earn even more respect if he could beat him on the heels of whipping Mayweather's ass.
Take care,

There is no way Hatton is going to beat Mayweather. He can't match his speed and quickness. I just hope it's a good fight. I have been following the 24/7 show on HBO and it's getting me pumped for this fight. Unfortunately, I'll have to watch a replay on HBO a week later, as I can't see dishing out 50 bucks or whatever it is to pay for this fight.
Has Hatton beat anyone of any substance? I don't know much about his history, but he looks pretty formidable. It's funny how you guys don't like Mayweather because of his fighting "persona". Wasn't Ali pretty much the same way? I have seen Floyd on talkshows and heard him on the radio and he seems like the complete opposite to the personality he portrays when promoting a fight. In my book, anyone who wins titles in 5 different weight classes is a pretty remarkable athelete. I could care less about his
"antics". He knows how to entertain and fights his ass off in the ring.

I love this line from Hatton about Mayweather's arrogance that Ricky told UK talk show host Michael Parkinson:
"If there was such a thing as re-incarnation, Floyd would come back as himself."

Hatton had another beauty of a line at the fight's press conference this week. Mayweather's uncle and trainer, Roger Mayweather, gave a long-winded, rambling speech, to which Hatton replied:
"Thank you, Roger, for making the winter a little bit shorter."

Finally, during their stare-down at the press conference, Mayweather reportedly swore loudly numerous times at Hatton, who responded by winking and making a throat-slitting gesture at Mayweather.
Man, I hope Hatton kicks PBF's ass.
Take care,
PK

Re: Mayweather vs. Hatton
Totally with you guys. I hate Mayweather and his entire corner. I gotta stop watching these HBO mini series leading up to big fights...makes me want to buy the Pay Per View. I'm lovin' Hatton. Looking forward to the fight.JackDog wrote:I hope Ricky can catch the running man and inflict pain. I cannot express the disdain I have for Mayweather.

The head of MGM's sportsbook was on the radio today. He claimed when they opened the window, they received a 'flood' of 6 figure bets in Ricky's favor. So much so, they had to immediately adjust the odds on the fight. (for whatever that's worth)
Personally, I think this fight will be another snoozer....

My only worry is the obvious...that Mayweather just uses his speed and bounces the entire fight - staying away and out-pointing Hatton. I can't see him knocking out Hatton. I would love to see Hatton land a bomb and lay out Mayweathergreggsand wrote:The head of MGM's sportsbook was on the radio today. Definitely has the potential to be one if Floyd decides to extend his "Dancing with the Stars" run for an extra week.greggsand wrote:The head of MGM's sportsbook was on the radio today. That's EXACTLY why Mayweather does it. It gets under your skin and throws you off your game. Hatton is obviously letting Floyd's antics get to him and that is what he wants. Hatton would be better off just ignoring him. Either way, I have a hard time rooting against either of these guys. I just hope it's a good fight. Something tells me it won't be.pk500 wrote:I love this line from Hatton about Mayweather's arrogance that Ricky told UK talk show host Michael Parkinson:

Hardly. Hatton has kept his mouth shut for most of the build-up and has praised Mayweather as a great fighter. Plus he winked and smiled at Mayweather after the fracas, which Mayweather started, by the way.JackB1 wrote:That's EXACTLY why Mayweather does it. If anything, the opposite of your statement above is true. I think Hatton's "I don't give a f*ck about you, superstar" insouciance toward Mayweather is really gnawing at PBF.
And I agree with Hatton's trainer, Billy Graham, that PBF doesn't respect European fighters.
Take care,
PK

Don't bet on that happening. From watching the 24/7 stuff, it is clear that Mayweather is much quicker and also in better shape. Hatton balloons up in between fights and then goes on an intensified diet/training to get in shape, whereas Floyd stays in shape all the time. Mayweather would be a fool to try and go toe to toe instead of using his athletic ability to beat Hatton.pk500 wrote: But if Ricky can catch him ... oh, if Ricky can catch him. POW! KABLAMMO! Agreed. No way Mayweather wins a street brawl, so he's going to continue to duck and dance.JackB1 wrote:Don't bet on that happening. If only Zab Judah didn't lose his concentration against Mayweather, we might not be talking about a bout of unbeatens Saturday night. Zab was ahead early, as he might be the only guy in the division who is faster than PBF. But then Zab suffered brain fade, just like he did later against Cotto, and ended up losing the fight.

On paper this looks to be a very intriguing matchup....
Hatton beat Jose Castillo in June, who came close to beating
Mayweather twice. That says that Hatton should be able to
beat Mayweather and yet he is the underdog. Anyone know
what the most recent Vegas odds are?
If anyone finds any internet sites showing the fight on Sat night, please post it here. I am hoping to find something better than text round by round updates. Also, with the recent popularity of Slingbox....I believe someone who paid for the fight with a Slingbox, can share the url for the internet broadcast of the fight.

Castillo was a shell of himself in that fight. The poundings he took in the epic fights against Chico Corrales definitely took their toll. The 10th round of the second Castillo-Corrales fight was one of the greatest three minutes in boxing history:JackB1 wrote:On paper this looks to be a very intriguing matchup....

Give credit to Ricky, as he pounded Castillo into submission with some fine body shots. But that was not Castillo at his peak, not at all:
