I have a question thought, is it not possible to have it work with 2 different iTunes locations? I can't seem to get it to connect to my home one without erasing everything I have on it from my work copy.
That's been the case with iTunes and iPods. It lets you transfer from the computer to the iPod but not the other way. That is presumably due to RIAA demands.
There are shareware utilities which will let you transfer from iPod (and presumably iPhone) to a computer which doesn't have that content.
The only exception is going to be the Wifi iTunes Store which will be available as a software update to iPhones. In that case, you can buy songs on the go and then later sync them to your computer.
Well I'm not really trying to do anything illegal. I have purchased music at both locations that I have gotten from the store. I just want to get everything consolidate on my home PC.

That will be tricky if you have different sets of music with little overlap between the two computers.
At least if you want to use the iPhone to transfer files.
It would be easy if the work computer was a superset of the library on the home computer, that is, it had everything that was on the home computer plus additional music. Well relatively easy.
In that case, just copy to a DVD or something and then import from the DVD on the home computer. If there are some songs from the iTunes store, you'd have to authorize on the home computer too.
ilounge.com has FAQs and Q&As with scenarios similar to yours. As well as links to software which would let you transfer files from the iPhone to your iPod (although maybe iPod has some additional restrictions that the iPod doesn't).
After getting no takers on my $299 offer, I got my iPhone replaced yesterday thanks to a naggling issue with a non-responsive section of the screen (likely due to multiple drops of the phone!). So, I now have a shiny new phone without scratches on the back casing; which has satiated my OCD.
While in store, I picked up a new case (crystal cover - hard plastic case) which seems OK, but time will tell. How is it that no one can figure out how to make a decent case system? I want thin, rubberized protection for the phone in the case of a drop and a holster (as in a secondary cover) that the phone will slide inside (with rubber case on). Not one to be found.
You can get a case which protects the phone, but comes with a crappy belt clip that induces FALLS, or get a belt case that holds the phone great, but does nothing to protect it when it slips from your hand during use...
Anyway, to my point, I did pick up a GREAT accessory for my iPhone...The $15 Crystal Anti-Glare Screen Cover (pack of 2). This cover goes on without bubbles and can't even be noticed once on. It gives the iPhone a more matte finish, which prevents glare and improves angle-viewing. It also erradicates finger smudges and oil, which I was obsessed with wiping from the screen before. Best of all, it IMPROVES touch screen accuracy by providing a soft, stick free surface. I type more accurately and have an easier time with the sweeping 'delete' motion since applying it.
The iPhone screen is pretty impervious to scratches, my original phone had NONE despite hitting concrete several times. So, you don't need a screen cover, but this one actually improves the phone. highly recommended.
Anyone decided on a worthwhile case?

I have the iSkin Revo and I'm happy with it. its a rubberized case with some sort of anti bacterial thing to it. I can't complain about it.
With the ripoff prices that we have in Canada for data usage, I don't foresee the iphone here anytime soon. While on a recent trip south of the border I picked up the new ipod itouch. Amazed at how thin it is. They didn't have any accesories yet for the itouch but I am hoping that the DLO people will have a jam jacket version for the itouch.
The new iPhone firmware update is out. It has the iTunes Mobile Store and a few other updates. There is a video at Apple.com that covers the features of the update. Go get it. http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/
Software unlocked iPhone is at work for "Marketing Research"... (actually it *IS* for that purpose... for us to gaze at the awesomeness of the UI and understand how we can build hardware to make it even faster/better etc.)
10spro: Popped my Rogers Network sim card in it... worked no problem.

Thanks James. How much did they charge you to unlock it and does all the features of the phone work for you? Are you just using your home internet because of the high data prices? Enjoy the iphone.

There's some furor because the latest iPhone update will re-lock the phone and get rid of any 3rd-party software you may have installed by Jailbreaking the iPhone.
Looks like people who hack their phones have to decide if they want Apple's official updates of fixes and some new features versus 3rd-party applications and games and the ability at least in this country to use T-Mobile instead of AT&T.

It's not MY phone... it's owned by my company (marketing dept.) I got to play with it and try it out a bit. I don't have it anymore.

I haven't been using a case for my iPhone (had it since one week post release) and I'm happy to report not a single scratch on the screen after many many many drops onto concrete and just about every other kind of flooring out there. I think my record was four drops in just one day:) The back for the phone is a little beat up but the screen is just like the day I bought it.
Greatest phone I have ever had the pleasure of owning. It is incredible:-P
I know it's not the right thread, but it's close. Anyone pick up one of the new iPod Classics? If so, are you having a ridiculous amount of problems with it like my 160 GB? They seem to be design issues rather than problems particular to my copy. The worst are the repeated iTunes freezes - it hangs with a spinning beach ball for about 15 seconds every minute if the iPod is connected.
I've tried restoring but get the same results. I know it's not my iTunes install as my iPod Video doesn't have any of these problems.

I got the 80 GB Classic and love it...no problems at all. The new update has cleaned things up also.
Anyway, my mac is OLD & has no usb 2.0's. The phone is sync-ing & such, but not without a few freeze-ups, reboots, sloooow file transfers, etc... Anyone else doing this? Anyone else 'fix' this? Suggestions??

Yeah you're pretty much SOL. There is no way to upgrade a 1.0 USB slot to a 2.0.

It will only be remotely usable when they go 3G with the 2nd generation IPhone. It's gonna be a pain in the ass with the crappy EDGE network. It'll be sweet over the 802.11 networks though. I'll install it on my Touch for sure.
