Don't get too excited about NHL 2K8 on the PS3....early reviews over at OS are saying that the framerate is brutal and it's running at 30fps and the graphics don't look very good. Wow...not a good time to be a PS3 hockey gamer...

I have a slight bit of concern after reading that review, as some of it comes across like : 'Now, with more D-shredding offense! '

Couple that with some of those highlight reel videos out there showing the defensemen just standing around, and I feel a small tug of worry..

Too funny...I just called them as well! It's almost like old times...I remember waiting for the UPS guy to show up at Babbages for NHLPA 93 and NHL 94....those were good times.

I just saw one of them at Target, I didn't pay close enough attention to which one as i wasn't there to buy it.

Might try calling a target near you.

Got it at EBGames in Markham Ontario today.

The shipments for Toronto area arrived in Mississauga this morning, and were getting out to the stores during the day today.

I'll be playing a bit tonight :)

Lucky indeed!

James, I'd like to formally request that the first thing you do is crank up the difficulty and see how vigorously you are attacked in the o-zone.

Just got back from the Target by my work and all I saw was the PS3 version of 2k8. I'm glad they didn't have the 360 version out as I would have been very tempted even though it's enroute from Gamefly.

James, you are a lucky bastard. :D

1up reviews the 360 version.

If their review of 2k8 was a 8O this one is a 8O 8O .

The only mention of online play at all is this: "But the major coup is the debut of EA's online leagues. The timing couldn't be better."

Not one word about any multi-console MP, co-op or team play or whatever they call it. Hmm. Seems pretty odd to me that something so different and unique isn't even mentioned at all in this review.

Why is that odd? It's a review on the net...they rarely play the games in their entirety. I would say it's odd if they DID mention it.

I've always found 1up's reviews to be rather sketchy, though strangely enough, I generally agree with their approximate ratings on games.

Not a lot of meat in their reviews, though, for sure.

OK, maybe not odd, maybe the word I want is more like 'lame.' I've never read anything at 1up, so I guess now I know why that won't be changing.

Babbages at Mid-Rivers mall... where I would take back C64 games after I played them and tell the clerk it wouldn't work right and exchage it for something else. :)

My kids has control over it right now. He's doing create-a-player stuff while I do some dishes/cleaning. Probably have to play with him on easy level for a while. I'll crank up difficulty when he's done and let you guys know.
