Ya that was there last year. You can also do this from the slot by pushing the shot stick to the strong side while you are slightly skating in the other direction. It pulls the goalie off and opens up the net. It's not all the realistic because goalies moves in relation to the skate instead of taking down the angles.

can someone explain how you do the move where you push the puck out into open space, walk around the D and get it? thanks

P.S. the ACTION cam is kind of nice and different from past versions. It looks a bit like 2K's cinemotion camera, but not quite.

Hit the left bumper - that releases the puck from your stick - then try to deke with the right stick to get around the defender.

Hey Zlax, sorry if I didn't respond to your XBL msg but my 360 keeps getting RROD so I wanted to spend as much time with the game as possible. As for your question, I'm not sure if I'll get 08 yet.

The game seems pretty damn fun so far though.

So how many of us won't have 360s when the hockey games launch? I guess you're lucky if yours will actually run anything...mine sure as heck won't.

I'm going to be pissed if I don't have a working 360 next week seeing as I now own 2 of them! Just got sick of switching the 360 between 2 TVs and needed another controller/more memory so it made sense. Plus, I'm learning quick with 2 boys (3 counting me...LOL) that you need to buy two of everything.

I'm loving this demo. Wish you could play a 10 min. period though. my only problem is how do you slow it down, or am I going to have to wait until the 11th?

You certainly have plenty to do on defense now, between the poke check with the right stick, the hitting with the right stick, the shot block, the pass block and the hook. And nothing is overdone. When u line up someone for a hit and nail them u really get a sense of accomplishment.

"Counting The Days" :)

How do you do all that? Everytime I pause, I just see the regular controller configuration. A hook, and a body check would really help my game.

Any word on how the PS3 version compares? Is it 60fps this time?

Pretty sure it's been confirmed at 30fps. Will rent this game, and then most likely pick up 2K8 if it's a noticeable issue.

D,
You cant adjust speed in the demo.....I know it's a bit too fast.

Did u reset the controls to "classic"? If not, the new controls are:
-right bumper to poke check - also use your right thumbstick to direct the stick
-shot block is both r & l bumper
-pass block is left bumper
-hitting is the right thumbstick
-hook is "A"

I am trying to do this from memory, so if I am wrong could someone correct. The controls should all be diagramed in the game.

I know it's minor, but all these post hits are bugging me! I am hearing "clang - clang" in my sleep :) I counted 7 in one period.

post hits are an annoyance and accuracy adjustments will not help either if 07 is anything to go by, they say its your aiming so i presume if you dont press to the full extremety of the stick it will reduce the hits although you would need to be an over caffinated origami artist to do that.

I am not getting posts either but that should be fixed with the auto or manual aim slider once the game comes out. Unlike some of you, I don't have an issue at all with how the puck is moving, in fact it's as realistic as I've seen it in an EA Hockey game and I like how I can use the boards to get by a D and the bounce is just fine. Also there'll be probably a puck friction slider for those that find it too fast.

Read my post it will be the same in regular game nothing will be fixed. Why do you think it will be fixed? I doubt anything will be different than the demo.

If your not hitting the post a lot thats great, it was happening a lot in 07.

It definitely happened a lot in 07, but it still didn't take away from the gameplay one bit, imo.

I'm not seeing it as much in the demo, but again it's one 5 min period. I am glad, however VERY few are going in.. which is different than last year.

Yeh im ok with it too it does get annoying some games and was thinking it might be more annoying when it continues in 08 i will have less tolerence for it so ill be tinkering with the accuracy slider and my analog stick placement for sure.
I tend to believe what EA said about its were your aiming as the slider didnt realy help it much but not cranking that stick over to pick a corner and to try and aim just inside the post ,well youd have to be the Gretzky of analogs not a worn out over 40 using a game to relive his youth.

Fix perhaps is the wrong word here, because hitting the post often is not a game breaker for me in any shape or form and like I said earlier, I haven't experienced that myself so far. But with the manual aim, you should have a different result other than hitting the post in a consistent basis.

2 answers that impressed me;
Operation Sports: Will all the AHL teams have real players and no "fake name" players?

David Littman: The AHL has real players on the teams. We have the PHPA license which allows to use any AHL player who has signed a waiver for use in our game. So there might be some players missing but as soon as we get the ok to use the player, we will be adding him into the game through roster updates.
Operation Sports: Will the Defensive AI be more aggressive when I put one of my guys in front of the net?

David Littman: Yes. On the two higher difficulty levels, you will have a tough time getting to the net. You can try a one on one deke with a good player, or get the puck back to the point and work the puck around. D-men will look to get forwards out from in front of the net so the goalie can see the puck. Screen shots mean a lot in NHL 08, so they are a great way of scoring if you see one.
Can't wait for next week. :)
