Littman said on on the spot OTP (online team play)was the developers favorite mode, 6 seperate consoles , has to be at least 1 human on both teams. I will be pissed if its not ready to go out the box like some of Tiger woods seems to be . But there has to be some sort of negative to this gsame surely , it cant be a perfect game.
What do you expect him to say, our game sucks? :o

I'm sure there will be gripes.. but they laid one hell of a foundation last year.

You can play up to 4 player online for the 360 per team/Per System.
I found this bit to be the most telling and sad. Up to four players per System, eh?

So does that, or does it not, mean that the rumor of true multi-system multiplayer is in fact nothing but a rumor? Or should I chalk it up to the fact that whoever wrote this doesn't understand English very well or simply can't write?
I'm pretty sure it was confirmed that you can play 3 on 3 multiplayer...ie. Six 360's, one person on each system. I swear I saw that on the On The Spot episode over at Gamespot where the producer was in studio.

I agree that we will not really get the full idea of the MP features until it ships.

On the online multiplayer issue, here's what I found a couple of weeks ago:

It's co-op online via two connected consoles:

http://consolesports.net/index.php?opti ... &Itemid=51

Quote:
Online Co-op Mode

Another online feature that I’m not if it was mentioned already is online co-op mode, but it’s not going to be in the online leagues. I believe up to 6 people can play the co-op mode online, but at least one person has to be on the opposing team. So, it can be 3-on-3, 2-on-4, 1-on-5, etc. Another cool feature is that if you choose to be the goalie, you use the new goalie cam for the entire game. Even though you can’t field a full 12 people during co-op on the 360, it will still be cool to get a bunch of friends together and play some hockey online. Now if you own a PS3 you can play 6-on-6 online on two consoles which means 6 people would have to play on each console online. For the 360 it can only go up to 4-on-4 via two consoles, as well.

You are capable of playing online, up to 6 players, on individual systems. From a Gamepot hands-on:

Online versus play will allow multiple people to play online on the same consoles. Here, up to four players on the same Xbox 360 can take on up to four players on another Xbox 360. Folks playing the game on a PlayStation 3 will be able to enjoy six-on-six gameplay on two PlayStation 3s (yes, one player can control the goalie on each team). If the idea of playing on the same console doesn't appeal to you, then online team play is the mode for you. In this mode, up to three players can connect online and play on the same team from individual Xbox 360s or PS3s, creating three-on-three match-ups on six distinct consoles (of the same type, naturally), all playing over online connections.

Just fired it up. 60 fps, I love it. One of my biggest gripes with last year's game was that the 30 fps make the game feel like it was stuttering, especially when you compared it to NHL2K7. I could tell from my first offensive possession that the CPU defensive AI was improved. I was able to work the puck around in the offensive zone, but the CPU defenders held their positions on the ice, rather than attacking the puck relentlessly. They do a great job positioning themselves between the puck carrier and the goalie, too. Using sticks to block passing lanes. Very nice.

The Ice camera looks like it's a little closer to the ice on default. I may be imagining things, but I thought it was too far away in 07.

Graphics are crisper, no jaggies.

I can't stress enough how rewarding it is to work the puck around, and generate a good scoring oppurtunity. I'm very pleased with what I've seen thus far.

That's encouraging news Sully, and I am sure the demo is on easy too. So if the AI knows how to position themselves properly in the blue line we are in for a treat. Check the transitional game from Defense to Offense (my gripe last year along with the framerate). Can't wait to DL.

No multiplayer on the demo, but it runs very smooth indeed compared to 08. I think the demo is on Pro default actually, and I like what I saw so far. Nice transitional game, players are not fighting for the puck when you advance past the red line and everyone seems to be positionally sound. Yes there are several camera angles where you can choose from.

Amazing how the face models look like their real part, I even can win more faceoffs so far in this version. Very promising....

What a difference 60FPS makes for the game. The skating engine is so smooth, it actually feels like you're playing Hockey for a change, players skate instead of sliding. And by transition I mean, you can play in your blue line by setting up plays, there's that space that you didn't get last year. I wonder if 08 will come with the icon players which symbolized what every player meant to their team last year.

With D. Alfredson who's got a heck of a wrister, I scored a couple of beauties and the animations; just beautiful. Have to be careful on the poke check on D, as I seemed to overskate a few times.

Scoring on a one timer will be difficult unless you're passing the puck to the blueliner or have the puck nicely cycled up front, that's a positive of how well position the opponent is on D.

Played the demo 5 times. Very smooth gameplay. Playing on the powerplay is really improved with your defensemen staying at the points and being able to set up a play from behind the net. The cpu hits this year, they were getting about 6 to 8 a period compared to 10 for me, last years game I could play an entire game with the cpu not getting that many hits no matter what I did with the sliders. Got into one fight and it was insane with the cpu wailing away at me. Only negative is waiting another week and a half for the full game. :P

Candidate for Sports Game of the Year, great job EA. :D

I still see one problem that I think has not been fixed unless this has been banned in the NHL. I still don't see the CPU getting aggressive when you get in front of the net. I would like to see CPU hit or push my guys away when I have one of my guys in front of the goalie. Is this the way it is now in the NHL?

Cycling the puck is a dream and man does it feel good when you successfully perform a poke check.

No ...you pay the price if you want to be in the paint.

I d like to see that too as long as the dont add the cross check to the back of the head that follows a close in goal....Why the hell does that go unpunished? They waiting for someone to get killed? Karya lost an entire season when some pathetic d***** bag did that to him.
