Eh...not many actually. They argue that the score is too low...that it should be an 8!! The difference between a 7 and 8 to me is so pointless. I was more interested in what the guys here thought than the hordes at OS. Not much makes sense with that crowd most of the time.

Well TC, I thought it was one of the best reviews I have read in a long time. Very informative and well done. I've found a few other spotty AI things then DB AI, IMO Clock Management is far worse, but I thought it was a fair review.

You an EA fanboy. :D

Personally, I would have given it a 4-6. I'm going to agree with what Billy Abner said on his blog... APF could have swung for the fences but instead they were happy with a single.

My low score is soley because of depth. A fully custimizable game apart from creating NFL logos would have answered that. I don't like online football. And I can't only play against the same legends in a series of exibition matches called the season mode.

Yeah...I'm in the 5-6 range too. It's not nearly as complete as it should be. Sure, they just decided a year ago to make the game, but it's still disappointing as a full game. Now, if they came out at 30-40 bucks, the score would have went up a couple points because I wouldn't have expected as much since it's a budget title. As it stands though...full price gets full ridicule. They fell short.

I just won the 'super bowl' in the game. After my initial difficulties, I ran off like 8/9 wins and won in the playoffs.

I don't play franchises , just season modes, so when I play a game like madden and my season ends, I just restart using a different team.

In this game, I have no desire to restart and create a whole brand new team. Anyone going thru this? I probably won't touch this game in a long time now unless it's for occasional online play.

Sadly I feel this way. I love the game but what's the point. I don't play online and I don't want to play against the same teams over and over again. Yes I know this is basically the season mode in Madden. But I can recreate 2007 in Madden, what am I recreating in APF. If there was a auto-draft with a play generator for random teams, I would play more than one season.

I agree with you to a certain extent, but after 1 season, there will still be a lot of teams/stadiums that I have not played in - so I imagine I might get a few seasons worth of playing. But I have not played in a while - due to my 360 going down with the 3 Red Lights, so if i had played more I may have changed my tune (I am 5-4 in my first season).

Part of the problem is that 2K hyped this game so much - just read the intro in the manual and it sounds like the return of the Elvis. They created a level of expectation that was not close to what they produced.

I feel the same and its not so much playing the same teams, it is the absurd stats. I rushed for over 6000 yards with Campbell. You would think I was running every play to get thos kind of numbers, but I wasn't.

It's just the nature of the game, every player is a "legend" and puts up legnedary numbers and after so many games the eye candy is matterling less and I'm just bored.

Usually in madden, I start with middle of the road teams or if the game is easy, really bad teams to start my season. But with APF, it's ruined that for me. Now I want the best teams to start with, (probably go with Pitt or NE), I don't have time anymore with crappy teams.

The nature of using legends does lead to some imbalance at times in the gameplay, but all things considered, this is the best playing football game I can remember.

If this had the NFL license, I would be in heaven.

I'll need to go into the site and see what is happening. I know I won't get to play my game with Slumber so I am going to give him a win. I don't know who played their games or not.

O.J. must surrender any earnings that he receives from allowing his name and likeness to appear in APF 2K8 to the Goldman family:

Awesome!

Take care,

Even worse is he can play for a team called the Assassins. Talk about unfortunate team names.

I forgot to mention - TCROUCH - excellent review.

Someone on OS was outraged that after OJ scored a touchdown that he did the throat slash celebration. He thought that this was an OJ specific 'feature' that was in incredibly poor taste. But it was because OJ was on the Assassins and all of their players do the throat slash in celebration.

I have actually been playing with OJ on my team - because of my memories of seeing him play for those Bills teams back in the day and not because of any sick fascination or support of the man.

Question: If OJ has to turn over every bit of money he makes, how can he afford to pay private detectives to hunt down the real killers???

:)

He must have a mirror in his house. In this case, that's the most cost-efficient private detective in history. :)

Just saw at the sportsgamer blog that this game is in the Best Buy ad for $39.99 this week. Woo hoo....hello price match!

I think it's cheaper than that on ebay and would be a worthwhile purchase at $30-40.

Someone over at OS posted a gametrailers link yesterday that supposedly confirmed AllPro 2k9. I didn't check the link but that would be good news, if true. Another year and they could be onto something with this game.

I think they've already said there will be a next year.. which is GREAT news.

Madden has a TON of work ahead of itself.

It is great news, but I'll be very curious to see how they approach the game considering the poor sales. Will they go to generic NFL approach with customability that everyone was expecting, or will the build on their legends concept? (In the end I really enjoyed the legends and would like to see a wider range of them available.)
