"This agreement is a significant victory for college sports and higher education," NCAA president Myles Brand said.
Thanks Myles I needed a good laugh!

BCS adds 5th bowl

Let´s see....the Big East still is a BCS school although UCONN and South Florida have been D1 in football for less than 5 years...

and the Mountain West with BYU, UNLV, SDSU, UTAH, COLORADO STATE and all of their tradition are still on the outside looking in.

Give me a break

Others than watching my Aztecs, college football is quickly joining pro football and basketball as my least watched and anticipated sports.
UConn and South Florida will be "players" in a few years. Bet on it.
If there was a specific additional conference to get that extra bowl, I agree, it should be the Mountain West, but certainly not at the expense of the Big East.

You can bet on it because they will be GIVEN the resources from their windfall and undeserved association with the BCS.

I am not saying any school is more deserving than the other, but how can many schools stay competetive?

The whole think sucks to no end and I hope the piggy bank breaks for the BCS Cartel.

Yep don´t be dissing the Huskies. They have played good ball the last few years. The three games they lost were to top teams and only Va Tech was a blowout.

South Florida is another school that can get the local scraps that Miami and FSU do not want and be a competitive team each year. They fared real well the last few years and in 2002 if they were part of the C-USA they probably would have won it. Yes, I know it is the C-USA but they have some solid teams at the top.

Something you might want to keep in mind is that USF has been able to use partial qualifiers the past 4 years. The NCAA allows a new team to D1-A to use as many as they like in order to keep the team competitive and not get killed.

This season will be USF´s first with no partial qualifiers, then we will know if they have taken strides. I have no idea if UCONN uses any or how many.
Well I learn something new every day. All this time I thought they put them in the C-USA for that very reason.

This isn´t good, especially for the Rose Bowl. For example, the USC-Michigan game this year was very heated and exciting (I stood the whole game) and the people around us said that there was absolutely none of this the year before with the BCS.

Oh well. Rose Bowl should be traditional anyways
