Feyenoord 2, Barca 3

Castelen opened the match with one of the most spectacular individual efforts you're ever going to see - beating three Barca defenders on a run and finishing in the corner past a helpless Valdes. That set the tone for an angry and confident Feyenoord side looking to reverse their bad luck in the first leg at Barca.

But once again Barca scratched out a couple of weak goals to pull ahead, and then sealed it with a strike from Xavi late in the second half. Charisteas clawed one back in stoppage time and Feyenoord continued to threaten in the waning seconds, but they fell just short.

Goals:

Castelen (FEY) 40
Eto'o (BAR) 46
Ronaldinho (BAR) 63
Xavi (BAR) 75
Charisteas (FEY) 90+

Bookings:
Motta (BAR) yellow

No injuries

F - B
6(4) shots 14(9)
53 poss 47

Great games Leebo - good luck the rest of the way.

Good games, Blub. I think you're being kind in that first game writeup as I wasn't much competition. Once I adjusted to the speed of your team I did a little better in the second game. At least I made it interesting by scoring first.

I was probably a season or two too early on the switch to a Tier 2 team, but I learned more this season losing than I did winning with Chelsea. It's been a lot of fun.

Division IV game:

Inter 7, Saint-Etienne 0

Inter pretty much had the sh*tkickin' boots on from the kickoff in this one, with some seriously aggressive moves by the defenders and inability for the Saint-Etienne players to separate, leading to a quick 3-0 lead by the 11 minute mark. It calmed down from there a bit, but the Ibrahimovic and Adriano show were just too much for the Saint-Etienne defenders.

Scoring:

Ibrahimovic 4'
Adriano 6'
Adriano 11'
Adriano 26'
Adriano (PK) 48'
Ibrahimovic 51'
Ibrahimovic 62'

Stats: Inter Saint-Etienne

Shots: 17(12) 4(1)
Pen: 1 0
FK: 3 5
CK: 2 1
Fouls: 5(3) 4(1)
Yellows: 0 0
Red: 0 0
Possession: 57% 43%

Sorry about that, Cooops. The Inter AI players were just all over the place in that game, not sure what was up there. The rematch friendly was much better, for sure. Just a bizarre game.

Wow. One shot on goal and it wasn't even on target... The Adriano - Ibrahimovic duo is fun to watch but an absolute b***h to play against with TCrouch's sweet thru passes right through the defense. Inter looks to be the team to beat in Division IV along with Levante UD.

Inter 3. Newcastle 0.

Adriano 36' and 80'
Ibrahimovic 76'

1(1) - 2(0) Fouls

I agree. They are fun to watch but a bit too scarey on the offensive side of the ball. I agree with Macsomjrr. Met34 and Crouch seem to be a bit ahead of the rest of us in div IV.. Met34 made me look (and feel) like i'd never played the game before.

I agree with something that Rob said earlier... I can't get this version figured out. Not that I was very good with the old version, but in most cases I could at least be competitive and stay in the game. I need to play more.

Olympiakos 1, Livorno 1

Olympiakos wins on penalties, 6-5 (in 8 frames)

Olympiakos and Livorno played to a thriller at Estadio Olimpico, with Olympiakos advancing after a pitched penalty battle. The first half was a tenative affair, with both teams playing conservatively. However, both teams went on the attack in the second half, and it showed with a Livorno barrage throughout. Livorno hit the crossbar twice during this half, with other shots parried by the Olympiakos keeper. Olympiakos had a few chances as well, but the game was tied at 0-0 going into extra time.

Olympiakos opened the game with a stunner, at Staltidis sent in a long pass to Konstantinous, who slammed home a volley to take the lead in the 92nd minute. Olympiakos immediately went on the defensive, and looked to be able to hold off Livorno's pressure. However, in the 118th minute, Livorno sent in a corner that was headed towards goal....by late Olympiakos sub Domi. The header deflected off the keeper's glove and trickled into the net, sending the game to penalties.

At the top of the 5th, the score was tied 3-3. Domi, the goat from the own goal, had a chance to redeem himself...but his shot was saved. Livorno's fifth shooter had a chance to win...but his shot clanged off the post. Both teams made their shots in the 6th and 7th frame, and Olympiakos scored in the top of the 8th. Livorno came up to take their spot kick, and the curse of the woodwork continued. The shot slammed off the crossbar, and Olympiakos rejoiced as they advanced in the cup.

OLY:LIV
14(7):16(9)
5:2 FK
2:2 CK
52:48 Poss

Yellow: Staltidis

Great game Slumberland.

Also, DSP league people, I can play tonight, probably after 8pm EST.

Div III Result:

West Ham 3 vs. Arsenal 2

7' Henry
32' Fabregas
68' Tevez
78' Tevez
82' Tevez

Yellow Cards: Ferdinand, Lauren, Toure

11(8 ) Shots 11(10)
6(1) Fouls 4(1)
52% Poss. 48%

The potential Division III title decider was one the matches of the season as West Ham came from 2 goals down to narrowly edge Arsenal by three goals to two.

To coin an old footballing cliche this really was a game of two halves. Arsenal came into the match knowing that nothing less than a victory would do and manager lsdean had them fired up from the opening whistle. Arsenal's four-man midfield dominated their West Ham counterparts with Fabregas at the center of things. Meanwhile Ljundberg and Van Persie provided width with West Ham's Paul Konchesky being victimized early on.

Within seven minutes Arsenal were in front. Van Persie drifted inside and clear of Mascherano and placed a brilliant through pass to Henry who provided a clinical finish past Robert Green.

Arsenal got their much deserved second in the 32nd minute when Henry played an inch-perfect corner onto the head of Cesc Fabregas who thundered a header into the roof of the net.

Arsenal were rampant and utterly dominated the first half. West Ham were unable to create a single chance of note and were fortunate not to enter the break down by more.

West Ham manager Macca berated his players at half time and changed their formation to an aggressive 3-5-2 with Konchesky and Benayoun making way for Etherington and Mullins, respectively. The team talk and tactical change seemed to work as West Ham's players seemed to be everywhere.

In the 68th minute West Ham finally got on the scoreboard when Tevez side-footed home a rebound from a Reo-Coker shot. Ten minutes later West Ham were level. Tevez once again, this time dispossessing a tiring Senderos and finishing cooly past Lehman.

Arsenal were reeling and in the 82nd minute the turn-around was complete was Tevez was brought down in the box by Kolo Toure. The little Argentinian thundered home the shot and the home crowd went wild.

Fantastic match ldsean - you totally dominated in that first half, like I was saying yesterday I had no idea how I was going to get back into the match! Unlucky with the second goal - Senderos is kinda crap.

levante vs newcastle game was a lot closer than the scoreline indicates. Big save by the Levante's goalkeeper in the second half kept the game 1-0 and few minutes later levante scored the important secodn goal. Then Newcastle took ricks, and Levante's strikers did not miss much for the rest of the game. First half was also very good halt without many goals, there was a lot of good fight for the possesion in the midfield.
