I'd say (and this is totally unscientific) that it's about 65/35 in favor of Yankee fans. And there's a higher concentration of Mets fans in Brooklyn and Queens than in Manhattan, what with the proximity to Shea and people switching over to the Mets once the Dodgers left.

As for lower class or not that knowledgeable, the Mets might have a bit more of a working class following, in line with the socio-economic differences between Manhattan and Brooklyn/Queens, but they're very knowledgeable and much more humble than their crosstown counterparts.

In the slower FF mode on TiVo, it's not too fast in that you can't see what's going on.

Nah. Just many more things to watch (or play via video games) on the TV now. No time to sit there and watch all of the crotch scratching, batting glove adjustments/routines/ticks, etc... when there's alot of other good TV on (especially after watching all 162 games of the regular season and alot of those innings sort of blur together).

I do the same thing for soccer and football games. I will do the lowest FF during the break in between plays in football, pressing play when they break their huddle. In soccer, I do it for all balls out of bounds or after a foul.

This past weekend, we had family in town. Because it was so beautiful, everyone decided to go to apple picking. It just so happened to be on Sunday when the Rams were on. Long story short, I recorded the game and watched in an hour compared to 3 hours and 15 minutes it normally takes to watch a full game live. Now, my wife wants me to record all of their games and watch them later!

Nor did I know that people actually do that as an afternoon activity with family.

F.D.R. wrote a letter to Commissioner Landis after Pearl Harbor that expressed his hope that baseball would continue to provide 2 hours of relaxation and escape every day for the people from the hard work of the war effort. 2 hours was the norm for a full, 9-inning game of baseball until the 1970s. TiVO an old-style game, and I bet it would take the same time to get through as a modern game. Point is, if anything is to blame, it's the game, and it does not have to be this way.

Ahh, you just wait until you put that ring on your girl's finger and a few years later when you have a son or daughter. You'll be taking them places you never thought you would. And yes, St. Louis has many apple orchids. Eckerts most notably. :D

Hey, they sure tried to let it slip away at the end of the season. But you're right, they sure haven't folded yet. If they win it all, it will be a ridiculous story, that's for damn sure.

Excellent pitching by Glavine and Weaver. Who would thought it would havee been a pitching dual? Just one bad pitch from Weaver. Beltran haunts the Cards again.

The Cardinals need to be a lot more patient at the plate. Too often they swung at first pitched. There's no reason Preston Wilson needs to freely swing at the first pitch of the inning. Regardless, the Cardinals had their chances, but hit in to some bad luck. Endy Chavez made a heck of a play that could have lead to some runs.

Did Albert really say that Glavine pitched bad? Said he wasn't good at all? I couldn't find the quote but heard Mike and Mike talking about it on the radio this morning. That's just frusturation on Albert's part, but it still shouldn't have been said.

Tip o the cap to Dream Weaver... WOW.

I agree, we have 0 patience at the plate and what do you know, Beltran kills us again.

Must win for us tonight!

In other news, I had front row seats at the Blues game last night... what a game I was treated to.. we were down 2-0 to the Bruins with 4 mins left in the 3rd period and BOOM! just like that we're tied going into OT. We win shootout and the game 3-2!!!!

I think it's cool enough here in St. Louis that a nice Ted Drewes frozen custard would keep if we mailed it. If we lose the series, we'll send some.

Ted Drewe used to sit directly behind home plate at the old Busch Stadium. I don't know if he still does at the new stadium or not.

It's a must win for the Cards tonight, however I don't know whether or not Carpenter can pitch any better than Weaver did.

Duncan will be in the lineup tonight with Wilson sitting on the bench. I sure wish they'd put him in right field instead of left.

I'm kind of surprised the Mets puts Floyd on the roster. He looked awfully gimpy last night. I was hoping one of the Cards players would put a ball down the third base line. They could have legged out a double or triple.

I thought Ted Sr. had long passed. I thought Jr. was running the show?

I'm thinking he'll hear some boos tonight.

Yeah, considering we had 4 hits and no runs, Glavine looked good to me. Not sure why Albert is running his mouth.. I'm sure it's out of frustration.

Tigers win again!

Oh crap, does this make them the favorite to win now? I love the underdog.

Delgado, Reyes, Beltran and who would have thought the pitching staff is carrying this NY team.

Yep, and I was speaking in general throughout the playoffs until they blew it in the ninth tonight.

Wow, I am spent! What a game. The Cards just kept clawing back against the best bullpen in the NL. Carpenter was off big time tonight in a must needed win. I would have bet the house when the Mets were up 6-4 that we'd lose, but hello Scott Spiezo. This guy has been clutch for the last week or so of the season, and now in the playoffs.

I had a good feeling for some reason when Taguchi came up against Wagner. Not necessarily a homerun, but a good at bat and a base hit. Now, Taguchi has looked overmatched time and time again against hard fast ball throwers. However, Wagner showed me nothing special besides his fastball. I guess So just kept sitting on the fastball and it paid off.

Hell of a play by Rolen in the 9th inning. Great substitution by LaRussa. Hell, great decision by LaRussa to start Spiezo as well. I'd sure love to see both Spiezo and Rolen start tomorrow's game. We'll see how that plays out.

Glad to see the series tied at one game a piece. I'll take the split!
