The one complaint I do have with the demo is the lack of control of the players. It doesn't feel as responsive compared to WE. Like those who complained about NBA 2K7's animations, the ones in the Fifa demo are just as evident.

Pretty much everything you can ask for is in there. Excellent ball physics? Check. Significant play differences between stars and regular players? Check. A wide variety of goal scoring possibilities? Check. Garden variety fouls? Check. And on and on down the line.

It plays very well. I'll just leave it at that.
If someone slapped WE on the demo and my goalie took tha ball form the six yard box and ran it into the goal, I would have a conniption. There is a lot that differentiates this game from WE to me, and it's not just the name.

Except if this was PES it would be a step backwards. Honestly, that's not PES-fan stuff. I think the 9-plus versions of WE/PES has refined that game into something special. FIFA needs the MVP treament. Sadly, FIFA 09 should be the one where they put everything together.

Here's where I think it needs to be improved...
-They need to tighten the dibbling controls for the human player. It's far too easy for the CPU to take the ball away from even players like Ronaldhino.
-The shoulder tackle animation completely takes your player out of the play.
-I think for a first year title it will be ok. But just from the demo it's not refined enough for my taste. The real physics isn't enough for me.
-Lastly, since this is a next gen title I think it's ok to criticise that the player movement is still in 8 directions. Why can't be have true 360 movement? Same criticism goes for PES Next-gen if it doesn't have 360 degree movement.
-There's some strange DB AI that's a little funny.

agree. you dont feel as "tight" control over your players as you do with WE. Also the ball doesn't seem to have enough vertical bounce to it. For some reason, the ball in EA games always seems like it is half dead. On the other hand, the overall "llok" of the game screams next gen. Not sure if this warrants a purchase with WE360 coming out in Mar?

I think EA implemented a player physics model a la Madden, which is why the player control feels a bit more sluggish than either WE or past FIFAs.

Also, I highly recommend going into the settings and turning passing assist all the way down. It gives the game a much freer feeling, as you can really pass into space beautifully.

One thing I noticed is they are really pushing defensive positioning in this game. If you're in bad position and try to make up for it by sprinting you will get way out of position. I like that but I'm also trying to get used to it. I'm really enjoying the demo so far. I don't mind that it's not WE at all.

The thing that really impresses me is the way you can dominate the game with star players. C. Ronaldo is absolutely deadly down the wing- he can set up any defender and blow by them, Ronaldinho can do pretty much whatever he wants with the ball, and on and on. You can also really make good decisions just based on body positioning. I know a few people have complained that stars get the ball taken from them too easily, but I haven't found that to be the case at all. If you pay attention to how you and the defenders are positioned and keep your body between the defender and the ball, a good player can hold possession for some time.
