Fifa, everything OK?

we can play the second half or even start over if you would like.

Up to you.

If we play the second half....you should host so you get the lag advantage.

Pigpen,

Yea, i'm fine. My comcast did the rope-a-dope and then took the complete dump.

I've got some avilability this weekend. Let's play the second half. I've got some limited time today and a small window tonight. Tomorrow also looks pretty good during the afternoon.

Leebo,

Once again, sorry about last night. I'll do my best to work around your schedule. (although with 2 preschoolers that may be a bit difficult) Let me know what works for you.

As the administrator of the league, I want to throw my two cents in and make it clear that I prefer that in the event a game is interrupted, a complete game be played the next time you try.

With the random condition arrows, injuries, and the random weather, splitting a game into separate pieces doesn't sit well with me. We've had a handful of situations where games were interrupted, it doesn't happen very often, and games should be replayed in full. I know it sucks to lose goals you've scored etc., but I just don't like the idea of games in little sections; League games should be played in a single, continuous whole. I have no real control over what you guys do, so you can finish it however you like, but now at least you know where I stand.

Thanks!

PS Pigpen - tomorrow would work best for me for our game, unless you are available early this afternoon, I could start the game any time until about 4p Eastern.

I appreciate everyone's effort to get the first half of the season completed. I will put the second-half schedule up tomorrow or Monday AM. Try to finish off the first half this weekend, but I don't forsee any forfeits being necessary at the half-way point. Everyone seems to be getting games in!

FYI, I won't be able to get anymore games in until Wednesday (I defend my dissertation on Tuesday), so I'll need an extension on my last game. I'll get them in when I get back though, promise. :)

That's too late for me tonight. I have to get up at 6AM and I have some important meetings tomorrow so I need to be at least semi-rested.

LIVERPOOL 3-4 LAZIO

15 shots 16
4 on 8
8 fk 7
3 ck 1
7 fl 8
0 os 3
53 % 47

LIVERPOOL: Baros 13' 31' 35'
LAZIO: DiCanio 36' 55'
Cesar 42'
Muzzi 69'

A cracking match that saw Liverpool go up 3-0 only to have Lazio finally show up this season and bag four unanswered goals. After Baros's hat-trick, things looked hopeless for the Italians until DiCanio found a loose ball at his feet and slotted it home. Cesar gave Lazio a glimmer of hope by pulling out another one before the half. The second half was mostly Lazio's, and they won it on Muzzi's goal off the bench in relief of DiCanio.
Both teams exchanged heart-stopping post rattlers in the second half, goals that, should they have happened, would have put Lazio up 5-3 or tied the game at 4, respectively.

Good game, Jimmy. A lot of fun to play against you. I'm sure you're already plotting your revenge for the second leg!

Middlesbrough defeated hosts Manchester City 1-0 in a game that capped the first half of the season for both teams. The goal came off the foot of Yakubu after some chaos in teh box left him with an easy shot. Man. City failed to score yet again, having registered only three goals so far all season, scoring in only two games. Southgate received a yellow card in the eighth minute for Middlesbrough after a rough challenge from behind.

Great game, piggie! Tough battle, and I'll see you in the second half. Speaking of. . .

The second half schedule is now up on the SGN League site. No forfeits will be awarded for first-half games, as everyone has shown diligence in getting games done. Please try to finish off all the games by the final season deadline of Sunday, 8/6. I would prefer if two games with the same opponent not be played in a row (due to yellow/red cards and injuries), but by the same token I would prefer games get done on time rather than not, so y'all just do whatch'a have to do.

There are four teams tied at the bottom of the DSPremiership in the relegation zone, but there are still several first-half games left to be played, so it's still pretty up in the air. Monaco and Werder Bremen share the league lead with 9 pts each, but again many games remain to be played. In the DSPenultimate, Pigpen's 'Boro have dropped only 2 points through the first-half of the season, and have a 3pt lead on Squid's AC Milan, who still have one game in hand however. It looks like it will be a battle right down to the end to earn the promotion spot, and it may yet come down to goal difference.

Play fair, and good luck in the second half!

The league is on Xbox, and the game is back-compat on the 360 so many of us play it on that.

New entrants are allowed into the league between seasons, which take about a month or so to complete. New members start in the lowest division in the league, and the ideal division size is six teams, so sometimes there may be a third division as well as a second division.

Look for a thread announcing the results of this Third Season once it is concluded. That thread will be used for new entrants to sign up. Just remember we only want serious players, who will do their best to finish their games and play fair.

Lazio 3 Newcastle 6

SOG 15, 19
Target 6, 13
FK 9, 12
Corners 1, 3
Offside 1, 2
Poss 48, 52

Lazio: DiCanio (22', 44', 71')

Newcastle: Owen (17', 29') Shearer (27', 71') Dyer (85') Ameobi (87')

A dazzling Paulo DiCanio hat trick wasn't enough to hold off a rampaging Toon side led by a brace apiece from Michael Owen and Harry Shearer. Owen opened this goal fest with a perfectly placed shot from the egde of the box. DiCanio responded almost immediately with a brilliant one-time shot from outside the area. This set the tone for the remainder of the game. Shearer delivered on a 22 yard free kick and Owen followed up with a header, only to once again face a riposte from the game DiCanio. Only in the 85th minute, with Kieron Dyer slotting home a pass drawn back by Owen, did the game turn decisively in favor of the visitors.

This game was WAY closer than it looks. Mo, you just ran into some absolutely shite luck today. Which brings us to...

Newcastle 3 Lazio 2

SOG 19, 15
Target 9, 4
FK 6, 4
Corners 3, 4
Offside 0, 1
Poss 49, 51

Newcastle narrowly defended their home field despite leaping out to a 3-0 advantage. This game was marked by the absence of some of the sides' finest stars, with Michael Owen unable to go due to fitness problems and Lazio stars DiCanio and Cesar each leaving the pitch with injuries in the first half.

Shearer roared out of the gates seemingly intent on making up for Owen's absence. Playing like a man half his age, he struck gold in the 3rd minute with a wicked ball skimmed past Peruzzi at a difficult angle. Newcastle continued to pressure the Italian visitors throughout the first half, and Kieron Dyer struck twice shortly before half. His first was a decisively struck shot from 10 yards, and the second a laser beam of a header off of an Emre corner kick.

The second half was a completely different story as the notorious Newcastle defense was pinned back by a resilient Lazio side. Shrugging off the loss of their talisman DiCanio as well as Cesar, Lazio found potent expression through the sub Pandev. He rifled home a left-footed beauty in the 66th minute and struck a perfect ball from the top of the box in the 77th. Only a standout performance from Shay Given down the stretch was able to deny Lazio a deserved equalizer.

Great, great game Mo. Given just stood on his head in the last 10 minutes, and you should've at least equalized.

Zep, you gotta do that voodoo that you do so well for the DiCanio and Cesar injuries.

Talk to me. What color were the injury indicators, Mo?

DiCanio's roll: 6

Cesar's roll: 2

If yellow, rolls of 1,2, and 3 are zero games, 4, 5, and 6 are 1 game out. If red, rolls of 1 or 2 are one game, 3 or 4 are two games, and 5 or 6 are a devastating three games out due to injury.
