Zlax45 wrote:Quick question, Ebgames says the game ship on Tuesday does that mean the game will be in stores Tuesday or Wednesday?
Depends on the policy of the stores where you live. Most stores around the country will sell you a copy if they have one, definitely as of the ship date if they receive it.
Here in NYC, something really bad must have happened in the last year or so to put the fear of God into store managers. I used to be able to pick up most games in the afternoon of the ship date, or earlier if the store had the game. Since the whole NCAA Football thing (stores had it up to a week before street date, wouldn't sell it), it's been made excruciatingly clear to me that no EB or GameStop store in the city will break the street date, even if they have copies for up to a week in advance, even if every other store in the country, even of the same chain, is selling it (as with NCAA Football). My best hope is to get the game the day after the listed ship date on the stores' websites, no matter when the store actually gets the game.
Guys, I have to admit I'm lukewarm to this WE release. Not because of the game but because my soccer fix is currently being filled by FM. I know they are not the same but I hate the ML mode. And that's the meat and potatos of WE.
By no means is this a slight on WE9. It's going to be a fantastic game. I will play it to death but I really hope WE10 is the game that expands the features.
I'm still undecided. I know I'm definitely picking up the AFL game this week but nothing is compelling me to run right out and pick this one up too. I'm afraid when my 360 gets back from repair I won't play WE that much. Though, online play does intrigue me.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

Bingo. Well said, JRod. I have so much fun with FM 2006. WE 9 is an appealing upcoming title, but not an "Oh, Lord, I'm wetting my pants until this thing is released" kind of game for me.
I'm getting WE 9, but I don't think I'm as geeked for it as some here. Plus I'm still enjoying the hell out of NHL 2K6 and NFL 2K5.
Now, TOCA 3, on the other hand ...
Take care,

Wow, i'm a little shocked at some of the "i'm not excited about WE9" or "i'm in no hurry to pick it up" messages i'm reading here. WTF?? Did we all grow up over the weekend?

I agree. What part of "online Winning Eleven" are y'all failing to process?
Don't get me wrong: It will be very fun. But as I said, I'm still having a ton of fun with NHL 2K6 -- still has that "new game smell" for me nearly four months later -- and NFL 2K5, and Football Manager 2006 remains as the finest videogame I've ever played, regardless of genre.
So I'm not really jonesing for console footie. Anticipating, yes. Jonesing with requisite amounts of saliva falling over my beard? I'll save that for TOCA 3.

I might be more enamored of FM2006 right now if my newly promoted Ipswich side weren't getting cuffed around the Premiership right now Damn board needs to step up with some dinero if they want me to keep this team up LOL

I played we8 on ps2 last night with a friend after the superbowl while the wives watched grey's anatomy, had a great time with our ML team we haven't played in 6 months. and I have another friend to play ML with on tuesday. That means a year after release, we8 is still a fun game. can I hope for that from we9?
I have fears we9 will be a letdown like going from we6 to we7.
but I'm still excited for it b/c I don't play pc, xbox360 or imports, so I haven't played any WE new versions.
All I know is the jump from PES4 to PES5 that I just took isn't that big. They play so similar that I'm actually kinda disappointed...I should have just kept playing 4. Sure, the kits and rosters and boots are all updated (w/ Wolf's patch of course) so that's cool, but I don't really see the differences on the pitch. Of course WE8 to WE9 will be the same...along with the inclusion of Online play, so that will be the big draw...but the on-field play just doesn't hint of a new and improved gameplay.

That's the exact reason I'm not jumping to get this game. Online play is a great addition but I'm afraid the gameplay will not feel very new. I know a lot of people would say that WE doesn't need to change the gameplay but there's only so much of the same thing I can take. I love the ball physics and AI but there are guys out there who get tired of f***in Halle Berry. That's kind of how I feel at this point.

I bought WE8 for the PC last year. I installed it and played it all of 5 hours. My initial reaction to the game was wow... this seems like a brilliant game.
Its one of those titles I keep telling myself I have to get back into. I think my primary problem is that I know nothing about the sport of soccer. Ive never played it in real life and I dont understand the finer nuances of the game. On top of that theres the learning curve of the game itself.
The gameplay difference is very subtle but boy does it make a huge difference , i feel without a doubt its the best version ive played, feels much more like a premiership match to me now. Awesome game, i suggest not getting the patches as the new stats they give the players fucks up the gameplay in my opinion, you lose the feel Konami created.

Yeah but my issue is...does that small nuance equal 50 bucks? Not sure that I would say yes at this point. I've only played a handful of games in PES5 right now so of course I'll give it more time now that I've already taken the plunge.
Fry's is advertising WE9 for XBOX for $29.00 starting Wednesday.
I'm with Zeppo on this. WE9 offers a sports experience unlike any other and I am more excited about this than I was about getting my 360. In my opinion It's depth and realism far outshine the brilliant NFL2k5. The big difference being after a year WE8 still makes you jump out of your seat when you score a goal, the game is still that rewarding and challenging.
Personally, WE8 has set new expectations for what I feel is needed in a sports sim... I won't go into details as Zeppo summed it up perfectly in his earlier post.

You guys that are about to embark on the journey into sports-gaming heaven that is called WE9 are in for a treat. I have PE5 and it is sublime.
I hope that enough DSPers haven't sold or traded their xboxes and get this game.
IMO, If it wasn't for the XBox 360, this release event would be much bigger. Still....the ability to play WE online has been something we ll have been salivating over for some time now and that time is almost upon us
WE9 and TOCA 3 are going to be the first new games I have put in my Xbox in many months.
PS - On a side note, when did ebgames.com drop the in-store pickup option when ordering? This worked great for me in the past as I have an eb right on the way home from work.
