I'll give you the oppurtunity to PM one to me. For now, I'll sport this Red Wings jelly.

Your an honest man!! That one is fine. Just sport it for the weekend. I am sure I'll be sporting a Flyers one in the future so go easy on me.

Wow, what was it, 5 in the third? Looks like they can play with the best from the east.

Strong showing from the Wings. I didn't get to see much of the game, but the Flyers have been playing rather poorly lately. Hopefully having their first home game in over 3 weeks will help revitilize them. Sure, they won 8 of 11 on the road trip, but if you actually look at their last 4 games, they barely eeked out wins over the woeful Hawks and Caps, got stomped by an average Devils team 3-0, and of course lost to the Wings last night. Just the usual ebbs and flows of the regular season coming into play.

"Philadelphia is a great team, but I think we caught them a little tired," said Brendan Shanahan.

Getting Pitkanen back next week should be huge for the team too. Their PP has been crap in the time he's been out.

Though you have to give credit where it is due;
"It's the best team we've faced," said Philadelphia's Simon Gagne, who scored his 30th and 31st goals.

Says a lot considering the Flyers have already beaten Ottawa twice.

Remember the Bruins beat the Sens twice this season also.

And the Oilers have beaten the Wings twice. So by new math, that makes Edmonton the best team in the league. :)

Take care,

I think you missed my point. I'm not trying to say the Flyers are better than Ottawa because they beat them twice, I'm just pointing out that this quote would imply that Gagne thinks Detroit is a tougher opponent than Ottawa.

Gionta (Boston College grad) scored twice tonight for the Devils in a 3-0 victory over the Canucks.

Just need to say BC just cause.

I missed the games televised on NBC, but for those that watched them, how was their coverage?

C. Juien's firing surprised me, I thought for sure the Bruins's coach would be a sitting duck by now.

NBC didn't do a bad job. Clement hosted the pre/postgame show. Mark Messier was in studio also. I'd give them a B+

The coach is not the problem with the Bruins. It is the GM who has been a huge failure in his reign. You trade your best offensive player for a bunch of second tier players who have done nothing but take up roster spots.

I went to the Bruins-Stars game yesterday for my job and The Bruins have absolutely no offensive players on their team. Sergei Samsonov is on a breakaway and gets no shot on goal. Bergeron in the shootout does not get a shot off. Need my creativitely and offesnive skills on this team with the amount of salary cap space they had.

Not very often that you see a team skate with or skate circles around the Oilers, but Ottawa did just that Saturday night. Quality team, no doubt.

Too bad Laraque didn't go with McGrattan when they squared up. But MacTavish specifically told Laraque to stay out of the box so he could play against Chara, hopefully pinning Chara deep in the zone with his brute strength and size. MacTavish said after the game in the Oilers' post-game podcast, "Georges usually doesn't listen to me when I ask him to do that, but I insisted this time." :)

Now the Oil has the lovely parting gift of playing red-hot Buffalo tonight.

Take care,
PK

If you like hockey you must watch Ovechkin's 32nd goal of this season, found in this this link (right click and save video, then open):

http://www.rh71.com/Projects/Ovechkin/

He falls onto his back and still puts it in. Just incredible.

This guy is just amaizing, scary to know how much influence he would have had with a more competitive team. He's my candidate for the Calder trophy hands down. What impressed me about his goal was that he kept the net in mind the whole time even when he was lying flat on his back before he rolled to his stomach and slide the puck in. Even the "GREAT" one was impressed!

B. Berard gets caught with a banned substance and he's done doing any international games for 2 years. It won't affect his NHL play with Columbus as his drug test was done prior to the current drug testing underway.

Pitts is officially for sale as Mario is looking for a new stadium so that the team can stay, as Kansas, Toronto and Winnipeg are waiting at the door.
Poor Z. Palffy retires due to his bad shoulder...as if things can't get any worse with the Penguins.

P. Nedved is out of the dog house in Phoenix and is traded to Philly.

I feel sad for Seidenberg. I think he would have progressed a lot further if he hadn't had a bunch of unlucky injuries like the terrible broken leg he suffered in practice a couple of years ago.

Great Ovechkin highlight reel:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... x+Ovechkin

Being in DC this year I get to see him play quite a bit, but I didn't realize how many crushing body checks this guy has dished out this year. We've all seen the goals, and I've seen some good hits by him here or there, but man, this kid is one hell of an athlete.

Mario is hanging up the blades and putting away the ax today. All hail to one of the true greats of all time.

The "Magnificent One" was one of a kind. A big guy with hands of silk, he was just a good passer. He conquered cancer once, but I guess his irregular heart beat and wonky back had enough. With 2 Stanleys under his belt, one of the best players in the NHL.

Crosby, all the pressure is on you now.

If the Pens put the "C" on Crosby now that Mario has retired, I'll puke.

Yeah, I don't think he's even ready for that A he wears now, never mind a C.
