Pat needs a major league wake up call, and his program needs a lightning bolt right on the transmitter, so that we don't have to keep cleaning up his messes...

LOL, I live in York, right next door to good ol Dover. The only thing I fear about all this is Pat Robertson actually showing up in my area and lowering my property values by his presence.
Maybe when the disaster doesn't happen he can call for the US to assasinate a monkey.

Yeah, apparently Robertson is no longer even familiar with the basic teachings of Jesus.
This does not even follow the teaching of Jesus regarding God's forgiveness and feelings towards sinners. So even if you believe Robertson's belief that this is a town of sinners turning away God, Robertson's own instructions to them don't even make sense.
See Luke 15:
Note that at the beginning of this scripture it points out that the Pharisees (the religious elite of that time) scoff that "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them." when they were referring to Jesus.
Then Jesus himself states "I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent."
Robertson needs to pick up his Bible once in awhile.
If Christ came back today, it would be people like Robertson and his cronies that would put him to death once again.
So even if you follow his ridiculous idea that God is going to bring his wrath down on the people of Dover, he then tells them "don't turn to God", "don't wonder why he hasn't helped you", "don't ask for his help", etc. etc.“I‘d like to say to the good citizens of Dover: if there is a disaster in your area, don‘t turn to God, you just rejected Him from your city… And don‘t wonder why He hasn‘t helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I‘m not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that‘s the case, don‘t ask for His help because he might not be there.”

See Luke 15:
Luke 15
The Parable of the Lost Sheep
1Now the tax collectors and "sinners" were all gathering around to hear him. 2But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them."
3Then Jesus told them this parable: 4"Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.' 7I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
The Parable of the Lost Coin
8"Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins[a] and loses one. Does she not light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? 9And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.' 10In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
The Parable of the Lost Son
11Jesus continued: "There was a man who had two sons. 12The younger one said to his father, 'Father, give me my share of the estate.' So he divided his property between them.
13"Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.
17"When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men.' 20So he got up and went to his father.
"But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
21"The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'
22"But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate. 24For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate.
25"Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. 27'Your brother has come,' he replied, 'and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.'
28"The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. 29But he answered his father, 'Look! All these years I've been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. 30But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!'
31" 'My son,' the father said, 'you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' "

Robertson is not the sharpest tool in the shed that's for sure. What he said was ill advised at the very least. God is a god of love and mercy as DChaps pointed out. Let us also not forget he's also a god of wrath as well if he's pushed too far:
Book of Proverbs
1:20 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
1:21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
1:22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
1:23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
1:24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
1:25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
1:26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
1:27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
1:28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
1:29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
1:30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
1:31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
1:32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

Bart: Ugh! Look, do you want a happy God or a vengeful God?
Todd: [quickly] Happy God.
Bart: Then quit flapping your lip and make with the cookies!

God hates the sin and the sinner according to Calab Hamer.
The following is from Calab Hamer's website www.angelfire.com/on4/calebhammer/ that includes Pat Robertson's justification for destroying the sinner.
We need to stop separating sin from the sinner. God judges the sinner! If you believe that God is just and true, then you must believe that He hates the sin and the sinner.
"God is a just judge and God is angry with the wicked everyday. (Psalms 7:11)

*When God confounded the tongues at the Tower of Babel, He didn't intend for men to learn more than one language again. If you speak more than one language, you are sinning!
And there are many more things.
All the things I listed are sinful according to the Bible. If somebody does any of them they are sinners. God hates sinners. If you do any of them, God hates you. Yes that's right. God hates you!
Being an atheist, agnostic, or a freethinker is blasphemy. You don't have a chance.
Here is what Gods Word the Bible says:
The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity. (Psalm 5:5)
God is a just judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day. (Psalm 7:11)
"The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul HATETH" ( Ps. 11:5 ). To be faithful to God we have to love what He loves and hate what He hates. To do anything else is trying to be better than God and that is also a sin.
When we hate God's enemies (not our own [ Mt 5:44 ]), we show our love for God (Ps 139:19-22). When we pray to God to destroy the wicked (anyone who is a sinner), we are showing our hate for what comes from evil doings and that they (sinners and doers of evil) be stopped (Rev 6:9-11).
So if we love God and hate evil, we should hate his enemies and pray that they, and their evil works, be destroyed.
I know there are some who might not agree with me but I have given the truth from God's Word. You can't argue with God's Word now, can you?
But all you have to do is get saved and you won't be a sinner and an evil doer. So why don't you just get saved? Then you won't be a sinner and God really will love you.
Pat Robertson is a great man of God and he explains why it is ok for God to kill the sinner:
"The wars of extermination have given a lot of people trouble unless they know what was going on. The people in the land of Palestine were very wicked. They were given over to idolatry; they sacrificed their children; they had all kinds of abominable sex practices; they were having sex, apparently, with animals; they were having sex men with men, and women with women; they were committing adultery, fornication; they were worshipping idols, offering their children up; and they were forsaking God.
God told the Israelites to kill them all - men, women and children, to destroy them. And that seems to be a terrible thing to do. Is it? Or isn't it? Well, let us assume there were 2,000 of them, or 10,000 of them living in the land, or whatever number there was of them. I don't have the exact number. Pick a number. God said 'Kill them all.'
Well, that would seem hard, wouldn't it? That would be 10,000 people who would probably go to Hell. But if they stayed and reproduced, in 30 or 40 or 60 or 100 more years, they could conceivably be - 10,000 would go to a 100,000 - 100,000 could conceivably go to a million. And then, there would be a million people who would have to spend eternity in Hell!
And its far more merciful to take away a few than to see in the future a 100 years down the road, and say, 'Well, I have to take away a million people that would forever be apart from God,' because the abomination was there like a contagium.
God saw that there was no cure for it. It wasn't going to change; their hearts weren't going to change; and all they would do is cause trouble for the Israelites, and pull the Israelites away from God, and prevent the truth of God from reaching the Earth. So God, in love, took away a small number that he might not have to take away a large number."
(Pat Robertson, rationalizing genocide committed by the early Israelites, on the "700 Club" television program, May 6, 1985)
If Pat Robertson has this to say then it is certainly OK to ask God to destroy sinners - get rid of them! They would go to Hell anyway. Might as well get it over with!

I had a dog...and his name was BINGO!
It makes them seem superior if God doesn't actually choose the least of us to be the greatest, doesn't give the meek the earth, doesn't give comfort to those who mourn, doesn't hang around with sinners, doesn't drink wine (God knows THAT'S wrong...right?) and buddy-buddies around with the religious crowd.
But he wouldn't be God if He did what we expect Him to. He brought a new covenant, the Old was fulfilled, the requirements of the Law were met in Jesus alone, and I'm free.
Free from this baloney disguised as Christianity. I'm not a Christian. I don't ascribe to their religion.
I'm a fully devoted follower of Christ. Trust me...there's a BIG difference...

I hope he was joking, but there are some who believe that God hates the sinner not just the sin which is extreme and dangerous. Hate is very evil and it inspired some of the worst crimes against humanity over the years. The problem with the bible is the translation and yet there are people who believe the bible is totally inerrant despite the translation errors. I do not believe you can interpret everything in the bible literally as some do, it must be interpreted spirtually.

No, TRI, that's not it. It isn't the translation, it's the transposition. People who will take the scripture and, like a musical score, transpose it to fit their 'key'. The thing says what it says, and it is what it is, but what it is is not open to wild, uneducated interpretation by those who seek to start a sect or cult (David Koresh certainly used the bible to do it, as have many phonies over the years) that adheres to a worldview that is so far from God, it's a wonder they even read the same book!
When we live our lives in the freedom that God provides through the sacrifice of Christ, who fulfilled all the requirements of the Law of God, we no longer adhere to a laundry list of rules and regulations. That's not to say we act like barbarians; we live in awe and wonder, love and adoration for the One who bought us off the chopping block, and then lay His head down under the gillotine in our place.
The guy you quoted is a whacko, plain and simple. I could argue him under a table in a hot second. Yokels like that aren't hard to put in their place, at least in the eyes of others. He will probably hold to his pathetic views all his life, despite roaring evidence to the contrary of his views. That's how the dummies work. It's like Linus refusing to give up his security blanket- some people find comfort in the strangest things...
