The other big difference: Microsoft has a slightly larger bankroll to support its console than Sega. Just a smidge bigger.GTHobbes wrote:I've been thinking how much this launch has reminded me of the dreamcast launch, and there really are a lot of parallels. The one big difference is EA Sports is on board at the beginning.

Take care,

Yea they went and really stretched a few of those comparisons.
I don't recall HD being a big selling point of the DC. It could only do 480p which is not even HD.

I think the 360 is going to do pretty well at launch, but when it is selling for half the price of the PS3 (according to Merrill Lynch), it's going to decimate Sony by Xmas 2006.
I think I am set to wait the 360 out until next year. There are some games, like Quake 4 and PGR3 that will make it hard to wait, but those games will still be there next year. If they are as good as we hope, there will still be plenty of people online with them. I'll probably eye getting in on the 360 about the time Halo 3 pops up.
In the meantime, my Xbox will still get plenty of use.
