Worth Buying a New Console?

I have a PS2 right now. Works great and have no problems.
 
 Do you guys think that it would be worth the money to buy a new X-Box or just ride it out and wait for the new consoles to be released in a couple or three years?

 Seriously, man, your question is quite open-ended. Are there exclusives on the Xbox that interest you? Does the idea of putting sports game saves on a hard drive instead of a shitload of memory cards interest you? Does Xbox Live interest you?
 
 Only you can answer those questions. Otherwise, we need parameters with which to work to give you advice.

 If money is not an object and you have broadband, than the xbox would be a worthwhile purchase.
 
 Honestly, the next generation of consoles will not be out for awhile, and during that time the returns you will get from the enjoyment out of this system will be ten-fold.

I agree with Toper. I have all 3 consoles, and if possible I game on my XBox. I think for the money it´s worth adding.

XBox, Gamecube, PS2, and 2 "gaming" computers here.
 
 I just hate seeing some exclusive game that I can´t play due to not having the system, so I just get ´em all.
 
 Do I think it´s worth it (to me)? Absolutely. To you? Not sure, there would have to be something on the XBox that isn´t on the PS2 (or you´re a graphics whore, that´d do it too) for it to be worthwhile for you.

Sorry guys. I was seriously thinking about a second gaming system just to have the best of both worlds. Just didn´t know if I should since the newer consoles are around the corner.
 
 Or I guess would it be a waste of money buying a second gaming system and games now.

Do you have extra cash lying around and broadband internet? Thats the main question.. if so, get one. If not, stick with the PS2, it should be enough to keep ya busy.

 What´s "around the corner?" There won´t be any new consoles released next year, from what I´ve read.
 
 You´ll more than get $179 worth of fun from an Xbox. Hell, you´ll get that much fun in your first couple of months with the system.

PK, I heard that in 2005 or 2006 the PS3 will be ready for launch. I have the extra cash to purchase a X-Box and some games. Just couldn´t decide if it would be an solid investment or just keep the money in the fund for the next generation consoles.

 Let me ask you this question as a devil´s advocate: Have you stopped buying games for your PS2 because you´re saving your money for games for a next-gen system?
 
 Think about that and how it applies to your theory of saving jack for next-gen consoles, especially when they´re at least 18 months away.
