Superstar Joyce Stays in Brooklyn
Thursday, October 4th, 2012:
Happy times in Brooklyn as the Green Sox and star starting pitcher Joe Joyce put the finishing touches on a $23,600,000 contract extension that will keep the 26-year-old in town 4 years longer.
Despite the disappointing 66-96, third place finish in the AL East, Joyce was happy to remain in the organization, forgoing arbitration and signing his first MLB contract extension. The former #1 prospect in the NACL stated, "This is home. I know we had a rough year, and had some bad breaks in the injury department, but I'm looking forward to next year."
In 2012, Joyce has a record of 12 wins and 14 losses and a 4.96 ERA. He has appeared in 33 games and struck out 165 in 188.2 innings.

Re: Green Sox Report
Several other young players get nice extensions rather than options.
A ton of money will be coming off the dockets, too, for free agents.
Goodbye, Campos. You proved the naysayers wrong with your .305 career average.

Re: Green Sox Report
BROOKLYN, NY (AP) - The Brooklyn Green Sox have made two Rule V claims that GM Jonah Falcon feels will aid his team in the upcoming 2013 season.
First baseman Mauro Rosales was claimed by the Green Sox in the first round of the Rule V draft, a 30 year old player who somehow was left open by the High Point Hustlers. Morales had suffered a down year with the Hustlers, hitting only .235. However, the Green Sox, who lacked a first baseman after Marco Munoz was signed as a free agent by the Vancouver Mounties, saw the ability was still there. "The man knows the strike zone," stated Falcon, "and can still hit." Rosales also has a Gold Glove level of defense at first, and can play third when needed as well. "Picking up Rosales was a no-brainer," finished Falcon.
Starter Jon Ballard was claimed in the third round, also from the High Point Hustlers. Falcon stated, "We project him as a back of the rotation starter. Right now, our pitching depth is low, and we're trying to amend that." Ballad spent the 2012 season pitching for AAA Meridianville, recording an 11-11, 4.35 ERA season.
