Gripes, Complaints and Angst

Here's the spot to moan about your team and the league.

I'll go first:

It's a bad sign when your setup man leads the entire team in strikeouts.

What team do you mean?

Don't worry though it's only spring training.

Spring training? I'm talking about my team, the Green Sox.

Bulls this is a sub forum for our Out of the Park Baseball league, not a forum for real MLB discussion, FWIW.

As for angst, Brooklyn swept me last week so clearly this game is broken.

Regular season, not postseason. Unfortunately.

Gripes? Oh, I've got gripes!

Paul Tyler goes down for 5 months and to think that just last week I almost made him a 2 year extension offer of $30 million total. Talk about a dodged bullet.

Tough break for Tyler after just getting the pitcher of the month award for April in the NL. At the age of 38 you have to think it is time to stick a fork in him.

And to make things that much more fun my second baseman Tu Fu goes down for a 2 week stint on the DL. With 2/5ths of my starting rotation on the DL it is time to start making a deal or perhaps to rush up Dale Holley.

I'm waiting for my vets to get out of their annual first half malaise.

This just in....

We are a bad baseball team.

We have traded away our two most popular players. Our attendance is tanking. And we are stuck with 3 bad contracts for the next 3 seasons.

Good times.

Our team is mired in 3rd place with no chance at the WC. Fans are still happy, tho.

It's not your pitching it's your defense, at least, your BABIP is awful. Maybe you're just unlucky atm.

How Many OF's on the DL at the same time

Post by Breadman-HagerstownGoldSx »

Hagerstown would like to declare a freeze on outfielders getting hurt.

Bernie Lozano gets hurt - no big deal its day to day
Next day - Lozano is out for 2 weeks - Well that sucks but we will be fine
Whoops my only other CF Tom Cook is hurt for 2 weeks
No problem I'll call up Will Dixon - Ouch he is out for a few weeks
Just for fun Willie Mason gets hurt and he is out for 1-2 weeks
And the icing on the top is that Lozano's rehab isn't going well and he will be out for an additional 2 weeks.

Hagerstown - Where outfielders go for time on the DL

Can I fire myself for doing such a piss poor job with Albany? I figured I would run the first season learning the league, teams, players; all the while holding .500 or better. Year two I would make a few moves. Maybe by year three or four I would be a contender.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. I really should be fired.

Maybe Albany will have a banner off season. Lost of cap room. Just need to spend it wisely.

As someone said in an email, this league is a silent cast of characters ... last post in this thread was 30+ days ago, while the last post to this sub forum was almost three weeks back. Yikes!

My season was doomed from the start. Losing my closer destroyed the pen, because I lost a middle reliever in that fashion. The entire starting staff inexplicably going down the shitter didn't help.

When you're 66-96 and still end up in 3rd place, you know the league is in a start of imbalance :)

Good job keeping Joyce for another four years Jonah. (Although what gives with his horrible 2012?)

Though why on earth did you sign an injury-riddled, 37-year-old Brett Hoover to a 2yr/$9m deal?

The good news is that I was tied for 5th in the NL Wild Card race. I guess that is something to hang my hat on ... on wait ... I was also 31GB from making it!

jcalvert, The only thing I would say is be careful with the contracts. I have one really ugly one that is hanging over my head with James Meyer for the next few years. He is at least productive which makes it sting a little less but that can kill you. I think the thing that many people miss in this game is how valuable the under 3 year players are at 400k / year. You have to have a balance of these and the stars if you want to make a move for the playoffs.

P.S. I keep hoping that James Meyer has a career ending injury and I can be free of his contract. Please let me know if you have any ideas on how to injure him.

Steve

You probably have to pay off the commish to force a player injury ... not that jcalvert the mgr would ever suggest such a thing! Maybe see if Tanya Harding's entourage is available for hire?

Because he hits well for ME. Note how he instantly revived when in the comforting fold of Brooklyn.

You may notice my entire staff skyrocketed. The price of being in a DH league in a division with hitters. I can't help but think Simpson's injury played a part. Might notice Joyce was AL Pitcher of the Month in September, tho.

Check out my extension for Moody, tho. Two words come to mind: Highway Robbery.
