Did anyone check out The Devil's Rejects yet?

Post by ScoopBrady »

For those of you who saw (and enjoyed) House of 1,000 Corpses this is a must see. Rob Zombie is actually quite talented as a director. This movie has a great 70's Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibe going on and there's some great dialogue as well. If you haven't checked out House of 1,000 Corpses yet and you liked the Texas Chainsaw Massacre at all definitely check it out.

Slasher movies (cult, classic or modern) have never been my thing, but I was bored one night and watched the first 10 minutes of the movie that was being hosted on IGN. I enjoyed it for what it was, and will probably rent it when it come out to see the rest.

I love Zombie's music as well. Have most of his stuff and was actually listening to a mix CD of his stuff on the drive to work today.

I would have to go with the exact opposite. Zombie is a FAN of horror movies that attempts to make them. House of 1,000 yawns was a poor slasher film that tried to hard to give tribute to some of the greats and at the same time throw in his cutesy psychadelic cut scenes.

Dr Evil? Come on I could pull a better name out of my ass.

I will wait until I can see the Devils Rejects for free. As far as slasher/gore flicks go the best stuff nowadays comes from Japan and Italy.

We'll agree to disagree then. The most recent highly coveted slasher/gore movie I've seen was from France (High Tension) and the first hour or so was great but the ending absolutely sucked. Zombie's 2 pics have a cool 70's vibe to them with some nice writing and dialogue for this type of movie. As for the Dr. Evil name, you'd have to watch The Devil's Rejects to understand where it comes from. I thought the name's origin was pretty cool.

No but funny ha ha. Just go to any of the larger horror sites and you will see what I am talking about.
Check out this IGN site (The horror geek) one of the few bright spots at IGN.

http://filmforce.ign.com/index/horrorgeek.html

Scoop you might want to skip his review of House of 1,000 snores because he is not a fan of the Zombies work. Of course that is a similar theme throughout most reviews from horror fan sites. I think Halloween 2 is just as good as the original if not better, which many would disagree with. Enjoy what you like, and w/o disagrements the internet would be a pretty bland place.

I list this because he lists many movies you might want to look into from foreign countries. Things you may never heard of and this guy really is into the horror films. Hit "show archive" w/o changing the year or date to bringup all his work.

His name was Dr. Satan.

I loved both Corpses and Rejects. Most real horror fans did as well. They were both very stylized movies. I somehow could care less what a critic at IGN thinks of a horror film. I'll stick to the Fangoria's of the world.

Yes Dr. Evil was from Austin Powers. It was part of the sarcasm like my House of 1000 yawans and House of 1000 snores. Apparently we need a sarcasm detector for the young uns and people easily offended by things DB says.

PS.... The guy who writes for IGN is a freelance writer who also writes for other online/print Horror Publications. Fangoria is a nice magazine but far from what it used to be in the 80's. With the creation of the internet many writers have to do such things as freelance on internet sites. Sure IGN bashing is fun but they do have a few talented writers in their NON-Gaming network.

That will be my public

Hmm Rob Zombie would probably fall under that same commercial crap manatra in my book. I don't think you could get that much airtime (commercials) and even the (cough)IGN downloads and 10 minute feature(/cough) and get a pass on that same tag.

I prefer the classics myself. I would list them but fear you would confuse "classics" with "nostalgia".

Whatever dude. I've been a horror fan my whole life, so I've seen a good share of horror films.

Yet you can't find the irony with calling IGN Crap and the very movie you trying to defend uses that same website in an attempt to bring in customers. I guess the Robster tends to disagree with you on that one. If only IGN had gone out and made Devils Rejects template like they did the McGriddles. Then Rob could die happy in the commercialism.

A wall that does not contradict himself with every passing post. You are a big boy and can enjoy what you want, just do not expect everyone to feel the same way. I am done with you now.

If Scoop wants to continue discussing horror movies I will glady do so as they were once my favorite genre. I just did not find this one to be of the same quality.

EDIT - Forget my post, I responded before reading the entire thread, my bad.

And I tried to get into a horror discussion with you, trying to find out some flicks you like. I'm trying to be serious here. I'm a big horror film fan, like you, I enjoy more of the older movies than the current crap that has come out. That's why I enjoyed Rejects and Corpses. They were homages to some of the 70's stuff.

Apparently reading ALL THE POSTS is not a requirement. It is less the one page and your question was answered awhile back.

Damn Brent, who pissed in your Wheaties this morning? I personally like Zombie's films because they feel different than your typical horror/slasher efforts being released in America. I like the way he nods his cap towards the classics. I like the 70's infusion. I'm not a Japanese/Italian horror watcher so I can't comment on those. From what's been released in America in this genre over the past 15 years or so, I'll take House of 1,000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects any day of the week. Sorry I brought it up, but I thought the movie was cool.

Yes you tried to get me to list "commercial crap free" list of movies I liked. As if to bait me into some "your movie listed is crappy and over commercialized, blah blah trap."

So now we are going to play a little game. Pretend this forum has an ignore feature - now pretend that you are on mine. I will do the exact same thing from my end.

See how easy that is. DSP is 100% conflict free when you use your imagination.

Nobody did. If someone pissed in my Wheaties I would probably be in jail for manslaughter. I just do not agree with you on Zombies first movie or that he is somehow a good director. Had I known this thread was only dedicated to people who jizz all over Rob then I would have stayed away from it. I simply enjoy horror movies and wanted to give my two cents based on the statement you made.

My apologies in advance. I guess DSP needs a sticky thread for people who disagree or have an opinion that differs from the thread starter.

Instead of avatars it seems we need a sensitivity meter in it's place.

Yet you feel it's ok to give your opinion on a movie that you've never seen? LOL
