Two years after the murder of thousands of innocent civilian´s on 9/11. I am interested in how that day affected your lives.

First off as most of you know I lost a cousin and a friend on 9/11. Tarel"T" Coleman was a Firefighter and a member of the NYFD Football team. R.I.P. Cousin.

I remember watching the events of that day unfold on CNN and my blood was boiling. I had no idea that when I watched the 1st tower fall that Tarel was somewhere in the bottom of it. He was supposed to be on vacation that week.

Tarel was working out with some teammates on Staten Island and heard the 1st plane hit. I was told when he saw the second plane hit he ran to his car and bolted to his ladder company. He was and still is an insipration to me.

I was at the time on inactive reserve from the military, that changed less than a year after 9/11. I witnessed a devastating terrorist attack on my country and lost a great friend . WTF? What can I do? Those questions ran through my head over and over.

I ended up joining back up with my unit and heading to Afghanistan,I was there for about a week then headed to N.Iraq. I was wounded and now have a new titanium right leg.

My life has changed quite a bit since 9/11 2001. But I am alive and with my wife and son. I have no regrets or complants. I only wish I could have done more in the fight against terrorist.

My brother Damon..a true clown and lover of mischeif has sinced joined the Marines and will ship out to Iraq this week. I am very proud of him and all others that volunteer to do whatever they can to protect us here at home.

Peace.

[ This message was edited by: JackDog on 11-09-2003 07:52 ]

I honor the memory of those lost Sept. 11 in New York, Pa., and D.C. and ache for their families, especially today.

I support the bravery of our troops everywhere.

I refrain from discussing the actions of the current Administration because this is not the appropriate thread or day.

Nice post, Jack-diggity.
Take care,

Jack,

Thanks for sharing your story, and though I can´t match the sacrifice your family has made, I think you know how I feel about this day. Anyone who was touched by this day is in my thoughts.

Life simply changed that day for many, many people. The men and women who guarantee our freedom, from the men and women serving in the military to the finest and bravest who serve our communities, have long been heroes to this country.

Unfornunately, it took the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001 for all of us to realize it.
Ain´t that the truth.

I feel for all ofthe families that lost friends/family members on 9/11. I had actually torn my ACL on the friday before and I thought my life was over...until that morning when I got a call from my sister, who was in NY on business about 10 blocks away from the WTC. I was thankful that she was alright and I was even more thankful that I was still alive...albeit without use of my right leg for a while.

I thank you JD for serving in our armed forces and sacraficing your leg forever. It´s times like 9/11 that make me realize how lucky I really am to have great guys such as JD serving for us.

Thanks again bro...you´re the man.
Yep, Jack, it sure is. Got to apologize for letting myself get sucked into that one, but you need to go back and read my last post there. There are no words for the families who suffered loss that day, and those who survived the horror. The NYPD and NYFD were, and continue to be heroes in my book. The soldiers, too, deserve to be praised for their willingness to put themsleves in harms way for us. Political ideology aside, America is still the best damn country on earth...

9/11 has affected me greatly. I missed being on one of the doomed flights by about a week. (I was out there on an East Coast baseball trip). I also lost a very good friend in the WTC. He had just been transferred to the 117th floor. He was also the brother of a very good friend of mine.

Not a day goes by I don´t think about him, and I haven´t ridden on an airplane since.

It just tears at your heart everytime you see an article or a TV report about families that lost someone in the WTC. The strength to go on is incredible as I just want to hug every child that lost a Dad or Mommie.

Jackdog, you and your brother are amazing people to give the ultimate sacrifice and I thank you.

If you are ever out my way here in SE Michigan, you and your family are welcome at my home.
