Maurice Greene can eat peanuts...and not from the bag...
Maurice Greene has got to be one of the most arrogant windbags I've ever seen. I'm embarrassed he's representing the US. I couldn't stand the idiot 4 years ago, and he's even worse now. He's proclaimed himself "the greatest of all time". They're about to start running in a few-here's hoping he gets his @$$ beaten. Or falls down. Or something. The man pops fart bubbles with his teeth, I swear...

I had the Olympics on in the background and heard something about Greene having pressure to meet expectations, since he had called himself the G.O.A.T.
Um, hey bub, don't call yourself something if you can't handle the pressure of dealing with what you call yourself.
There's a reason my business cards don't read "best logistician...ever"

...and the numbskull goes down! Sure wish he'd been knocked out of any medal, but humble pie is still the order of the day ( he probably won't eat it) Good news for Greene, however: He doesn't have to remove his G.O.A.T. tattoo-it just takes on a new meaning...

You like the Gatlin-Crwaford show better? At least Greene is only an asshole about himself. He doesn't disrespect the sport and the competition the way these two jokers did.tealboy03 wrote:Maurice Greene has got to be one of the most arrogant windbags I've ever seen. Running the first preliminary heat with a baseball cap on backwards? Having a casual conversation with your training partner in the last 20 meters of an Olympic semifinal race while your still racing? That's not just being arrogant. It's being disrespectful, which is far worse.
And before you chalk it up to youthful indiscretion, explain to me how having that gold medal around Gatlin's neck is going to teach him humility. You can find Greene's arrogance distasteful. I thought he was the most respectful American in the race.
"You like the Gatlin-Crwaford show better?"
Nope. Don't like any of 'em. Was rooting for Asafa Powell, personally. I just got a bad taste in my mouth 4 years ago when Greene acted a fool on the medal stand. And along with that greatest of all time crap, he's just too much to take.
"I thought he was the most respectful American in the race"
Yeah, because he lost. And anyway, referring to him as the most respectful of the US lot really doesn't say much...

"Greene at least seemed like he was sincere in his post race interview. Giving the props to the other racers that beat him. I don't know if I've ever seen him do that."
Yeah, but I've gotta believe it's only because he was humbled. He knew the buildup he created with the swagger, and he knew he didn't live up to it. What else can you do? He couldn't very well keep bragging now, could he?

"at least he's being more consistent than his critics who don't care about track and field unless it's wrapped in the flag."
Track and field is my all time favorite olympic series of events, sf...but I'm a critic of Greene, and if you'll look back in the thread, you'll see that I was rooting for Asafa Powell, who, the last time I checked... isn't "wrapped in the flag". What does that supposed to mean, anyway??
