Tiger Woods 2002 for $20 or 2003?

Post by FloridaGators »

Just wondering if Tiger Woods 2003 is worth $50 compared to Tiger 2002 for $20. I have never played either of them and they are only selling them around here. Thanks for the opinions. By the way I hope Tiger is 4 player. Also, do you have to unlock all the golfers or are you given some at the beginning? I´m pretty busy now with school and other games to be playing hours on end to unlock players. I know you have to unlock some but hopefully not all but Tiger.

Gators:
Thanks for the post, dude.

Tiger 2003 plays exactly the same as Tiger 2002, from tee to green. I guess there are a few more wrinkles in the challenges, a few more courses, and the graphics -- at least on the Xbox -- are gorgeous.

If you´re really hip on a golf game, I´d probably drop the $50 on Tiger 2003 just for the extra courses. That will extend the longevity.

But if you just want a game to pop in from time to time to play a quick 18, I´d pick up Tiger 2002 for $20. The games play nearly identically. In fact, Tiger 2003 feels a lot like Tiger 2002-A.

EA didn´t work very hard on the console version of this game, instead probably improving the PC version, which Net buzz indicates is excellent.

But Tiger 2002 and 2003 are fun but not too challenging. Both are fun multiplayer games.

Take care,

I´ve yet to see or play any of the 2003 console versions of TW, but another thing to consider is that the 2003 versions do allow you to play 72 hole tournaments. TW 2002 did not. I still play TW 2002 with friends in multiplayer mode, but the career mode comes to an end all too quickly with that one... fun while it lasts though

I´m anxious to see what the XBox version looks like in comparison.

PK, I guess I should have also said that TW2002 only allowed for 36 hole tournaments. What I still don´t know about 2003, is whether you can play in these 72 hole tournaments with an AI player. You couldn´t in 2002.

The console version does allow an "online" tournament of sorts. Visit the EA Sports site for more info.
IGN said that the PS2 version is the greatest console golf game ever.

from what I hear so far, it´s the same thing as 2002 but a few more features, but again people are saying once you figure out the swing, it is too easy.

I liked tw2002 last year, but I only rented it, and the 7 day rental was more than enough for the game. Fun game, but If I had bought it, I would not be playing it after 3-4 days. So I would say don´t even buy tw2002 for 20, since you can rent it for 5-6 bucks and finish it in 3 days.

You should be able to get TW 2003 for around $30 - if you can, that´s the way to go IMO.

Even though I have only briefly checked out the 2003 version, I say all your spleen, or some other worthless organ and buy it!
