Why?
I downloaded and started HUT. There is a new mode called Wildcard which is solid. Graphics look cleaner. Still way too early to make a call for me.

i played versus and it seemed like the same thing. maybe i'll download it again and try the new mode. but it's still nice out where i'm at so not really have hockey on my mind.

update - i see that new mode is part of hut. nm

You went a step further than me. There's no chance in hell EA has fixed the single-player gameplay in this game, which has been broken for more than a decade.

The NHL franchise is the sh*ttiest in the EA lineup, by a MILE.

Color me surprised. After plugging in some sliders, I’m having more fun with this game than Madden and NCAA Football.

Let’s go BLUES!!

Having a great time with HUT. The new skating engine is nice.

What sliders? I'm very skeptical this game can be fixed for offline play, but I'm willing to try what you're using.

Extremely doubtful they will pass your expectations, but I'm using Armor's Average Joe sliders that are posted on OS. I suppose you can bump up the skill level. I'm not so quick on the controller anymore and my skill level has dropped considerably (except for perhaps MLB The Show). The game definitely still has its issues that will never be remedied until a new developer comes along (I'll long be retired from video games I imagine), but I'm having fun for what it is.

I do so wish they would include a second broadcast commentary crew. As it stands, it's grating on my nerves.

Thanks, Dan.

My skill level isn't great, mainly due to aging reflexes. I would just like an EA NHL game to play proper hockey offline for ONCE in the last 10 years. I guess that's too much to ask but not surprising considering probably 95 percent of the people who play this game live for online play.

EA's offline hockey play has been atrociously unrealistic for at least the last decade. Awful. It's not hockey.

Paul, I misspoke. Just played Vegas and it was all one on one hockey, very rarely cycling the puck.

EDIT: This past game didn’t load the correct sliders. Having a much more enjoyable organic experience against the Wild.

Inputted Pernell's sliders and they are quite a bit better than the sliders I was using before.

One weird thing I noticed however. The game played true to the sliders for the first two periods, but by period 3 it felt like the game was in to spastic mode. Way too fast and chaotic. If that continues, this game will have a very short shelf life.
