Looks sweet. The games needs that something extra to draw people back in.

Agree. MS Flight Simulator fulfills its name -- and then some. It's a wonderful sim. In fact, one of my college teammates just got his pilot's license last year, and he told me his flight school used Flight Sim with all assists turned off for ground training. That's impressive testimony.

But we turn on our Xboxes to be entertained. And there's no doubt Flight Sim needs a little more "gamification" for most to be consistently entertaining, to breed more of that "one more flight tonight" fun factor.

I look forward to this new direction.

game is good if you want to kick back and relax but I can see why people call it boring.

I like the landing challenges which make it feel more like a videogame.

They said you will be able to use the add on/planes you purchased from 2020 in 2024 but I am highly skeptical. Maybe first party MS addons sure, but 3rd party I'm not too sure about.

Hopefully we get some more planes out of the box, a reply mode on Xbox, and a better online experience.

my apologies, Lancer. I performed a search for Flight Simulator, and the old thread showed up instead. Nevermind the fact the new FS 2024 thread was at the bottom of the front page. lol. Carry on...

No problem

I’m looking forward to 2024 but not excited.

I never buy dlc or addons for games but i did for msfs2020. Like probably $100 in dlc. Planes , challenges, airports, etc.

I was really hardcore into this game for like 2 yrs. But the updates killed a great game on Xbox.

They claim all the DLC from 2020 will work in 2024 but I’m skeptical. Maybe MS dlc but doubt 3rd party.

thanks, Lancer. Yeah, I completely get that. For myself, am hoping pretty much all the mainline game content from 2020 is carried over (I don't own that version).
Interestingly, Mrmattyplays was reporting via his podcast, that 2024 will be a smaller file (less data), than 2020. Hopefully, everything is just better optimized. BTW, did you stream 2020, or play via offline mode?

this game is still a broken mess but if you join the BETA group via XBOX Insider App - they give you 1 billion credits and everything unlocked in career mode. I guess we should thank them but it's ridicoulous the game is still unplayable in career mode 7 months later. Plus not having AI Pilot still kills any chance of recording your flights for xbox clubs or youtube. One of many things they took out of MSFS2024 which were in MSFS2020

Thanks for the heads up on this! For those like me (maybe only me) who had no idea this existed or how to do it. Here's what worked for me.
To join the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 beta using the Xbox Insider Hub, first ensure you have the Xbox Insider Hub app installed on your PC or Xbox console. Then, access the "Previews" section within the hub, locate the "Microsoft Flight Simulator Beta" option, and select "Join" or "Manage". You'll then need to join the specific "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 – Sim Update [X]" group, where [X] represents the current Sim Update. Finally, restart your device to ensure the update is applied.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Install the Xbox Insider Hub:
If you don't have it already, install the Xbox Insider Hub app from the Microsoft Store on your PC or Xbox console.
2. Access Previews:
Open the Xbox Insider Hub app and navigate to the "Previews" section on the left-hand side.
3. Locate MSFS Beta:
Scroll through the list of available previews and find "Microsoft Flight Simulator Beta".
4. Join the Beta:
Select "Join" or "Manage" to enter the beta program.
5. Choose the Correct Sim Update:
Within the list of groups, find the one corresponding to the current Sim Update (e.g., "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 – Sim Update 3") and select it.
6. Restart your device:
After joining the beta, restart your PC or Xbox console to ensure the changes are applied and the update is downloaded.

cool - thanks!

2020 is so much the better game but it's such a hog on the storage. I think I have like 400gb w/ DLC total. I play it on cloud only but playing on cloud you have to download your DLC every time you start up. But the game plays great on cloud because most casuals have moved onto 2024.

In 2024 - After joining the beta - they give you everyting so all the commercial routes are available. I actually was able to finish a flight from stl to jfk on a boeing 737 in career mode without the game crashing. they do have some liveries out of the box you can use for some of the flights like Korean Air/Alaska Air/Spirit/United which is nice since they're free. but my fav is Southwest Airlines and I see the bundle for it's 737 North American liveries is like $2 on sale this weekend. But I wouldn't spend 1cent on 2024 since its still so broken. Plus the marketplace on 2024 is so trash vs 2020 which is still thriving.

But the missing AI Pilot in 2024 is killing me. in 2020 I tagged up with a group of guys and we were all history buffs and use to love recreating historical flights.

Here is my contribution from MSFS 2020 - man I really miss that ai pilot in 2024 -
