PK - what's up w/ this licensing garbage? So MS can't sell FH2 anymore on their store or anywhere. Only way you can get it is if you owned it digitally or have to buy a physical copy off ebay somewhere. Can you explain to us not in the car industry?
I'm sure it has to do with license timers. Same thing for music in games...when they re-released Tony Hawk they had to get mostly new music as they couldn't re-up the licenses for the original music. They pay to license the car for X amount of years - then they can't sell the game anymore without renewing EVERYTHING.

This game definitely hits that accessible sweet spot. Beautiful, fun, tons to do.
I think another reason for me is the PC version is great. I don't have a 4k monitor or card capable of doing HDR but the game still looks great, not as good as the XBSX but great. I've think I reached that point of my life where I need to be at a PC to see all the stuff on the mini-map and read all the small text. I keep having to get off the couch for the Xbox version just to read what the icons say on the map. Also I don't know about multiplayer but all you guys show up driving around in my PC version and are on the leaderboards etc.

I don't get some things like the Arcade events but it is still fun regardless.

Some of those XP and Fast Travel boards are a pain the butt to smash. I tried jumping off a mountain about 20 times and only came close to hitting it one time. Now, I just drive by the ones that are sitting on top of a building, plane, etc. Perhaps I'll go back at some point and try them, but they can be frustrating.

Definitely one of my favorite Horizon games, behind probably the first one which was so new and exciting to play.

I'm having so much fun with this game, I don't usually dig driving games more then a few hours but this one has me hooked.

One of the reasons FH 5 is so robust may be because this is the first Horizon game that didn't have a Forza Motorsport installment released between it. Forza Motorsport 8 wasn't released between FH 4 and FH 5, breaking the usual development pattern. Turn 10 developed and released the middling Forza mobile game since FH 4, but it seems that all of its console development muscle was flexed for nearly two years on FH 5 this time.
Different studios.

Forza Horizon = Playground Games

Forza Motorsport = Turn 10
Correct you are, Rod. Thanks for the information!

Even though the formula is the same, each entry in the series feels fresh. I don't know how they manage to pull that off but they do. A beautiful game and tbh, I tried performance and quality modes on the Series S and I could not tell or feel a difference in the drivability of the cars. The 60fps mode felt slightly more precise but not by much. Both 30fps and 60fps are just as smooth although I did notice a little shimmering in the 60fps mode.

Having an absolute blast with it on the Series X. Been fun seeing all the DSP Drivers as well...
Same here Leadfoot5. It gives the game so much more personality to see all the DSP names in the mix. I see plenty of all or your license plates in racing events! :) I'm running it in performance mode on my Series X, as I can reel more responsiveness with my Thrustmaster TX steering wheel. However, I'm really surprised at how smooth it feels in quality mode at 30 FPS. It looks stunning in both modes, so I have no trouble going with performance mode. I have to freeze the game to note the improvement in quality mode, but it is there if you look for it.

I'm as busy tinkering with my force feedback and steering wheel settings as I am driving right now. There's an endless array of settings to fiddle with and I'm amazed at how varied they can make the driving experience. I'm getting there, but it will be an ongoing process to get to the promised land... enjoying this one more than any of the Horizon games for sure!

For those of us that are not grearheads, this is the perfect game in my opinion. Sure, I can tell that the handles of the various vehicles are a bit on the arcade side so I can see why PK and Sim are a tad put off. The series is also immersive enough that my 11 year old daughter has finished 2 and 4 of the series. She loves it and the corney jokes that come over the radio.

"Put off" is a bit strong. You always know Horizon will be an arcade game. But I think the handling is a bit too easy, yet FH 5 is still a blast to play.

The best arcade driving models to me include tons of power slides, with a tactile sense of friction from the vibration of the controller. H4 did a better job of that than H5, in my opinion.

Games like the Project Gotham series and even the most recent GRID have absolutely sublime arcade driving models.

I'm really digging 5. I stopped playing 4 quite awhile ago, way before getting anywhere near completion. As beautiful as it was, the environment started boring me. I love the environs in 5. It's a little less grippy than 4, but not enough that I mind. I'm also not a huge fan of giving your avatar a voice, because there's just too much talking, and I don't relate to a British guy...lol.

If you need some car/tune combos or ideas on how best to complete these Series/Season objectives, below are some of the regular streamer/tuners I go to. The Trial where you have to beat unbeatable class AI as a team in A800 Modern Supercars is particularly challenging/frustrating this week. So far my closest chances have been using GreetedDust8's BMW i8 tune, or the Audi R8 (2013) tune by NephriteSS, but you also need to be lucky enough to get teammates who don't work against you. :)

These weekly playlists are fun and frustrating at the same time, mostly due to some of the bugs that will see you completing a challenge, but the game not marking it off as such. I have never been able to get Horizon Arcade to work, completely don't understand the point of that nonsense. Championships so far are a fun challenge. Hopefully a patch soon!

Re: Forza Horizon 5

Post by DChaps »

A 15.4gb patch has been released with a huge number of fixes, some of the highlights below. I am glad they are fixing that Horizon Arcade mess. I don't like it, don't understand it, and it never worked, but yet it was worth 3pts every week/season.
Forza Horizon 5 – Release Notes for Dec. 3, 2021

https://forzamotorsport.net/en-us/news/ ... dec-3-2021

The latest Forza Horizon 5 fixes have arrived for all platforms. Following our blog post yesterday detailing some pressing issues being encountered by our players, we’re excited to begin rolling out fixes to tackle some of these problems.

While this update doesn’t address all known issues, our teams are hard at work on further fixes. Today’s fixes are:

Convoys
Undoubtedly, the number one issue related to Convoys is when your friends disappear. Today’s update is our biggest step yet in improving the issue that causes Convoy members and other players in the world to erratically vanish. We’ll continue to monitor this issue and will provide further updates as needed.

We’ve also made additional fixes to Convoys. First, the entire Convoy will be accepted when the leader accepts a Forza LINK invite. We’ve updated the Convoy icon on the Player Label in the map to be more readable and an infinite load issue when searching for a Convoy via 'Find a Convoy' has also been resolved. Additionally, we’ve fixed player labels showing the wrong vehicle PI when viewing the map.

Horizon Arcade
Horizon Arcade has received substantial changes to provide a more enjoyable experience when playing with only a handful of players and to ensure instances are better populated.

Now, the score target scales based on the number of participants to allow everyone a fair chance at completing Horizon Arcade minigames regardless of how many players are actively taking part. In addition, we’ve adjusted how players are grouped when an event starts to prioritize larger groups. If you’re playing in a Convoy, an issue where members could see different score totals has also been fixed.

To ensure Horizon Arcade delivers a balanced, fun and memorable experience to all players, we’ve also implemented the following changes to make it more robust all-around:

Increased the time at which a Horizon Arcade event radius will appear on the map (ahead of it starting) to 10 minutes

Adjusted completion requirements for some Horizon Arcade events

Barn Finds can no longer be collected during Horizon Arcade events to prevent an issue where some players were unable to complete the event

Fixed an issue where Horizon Arcade Mini Missions HUD wouldn't show players when the next mission is starting

Added unique icons for each Horizon Arcade game type on the map

Fixed an issue where some ramps might not appear during Horizon Arcade ‘Bullseye’ events

We hope these changes to Horizon Arcade encourage you to revisit the mode or try it out for the first time if you haven’t already. The cooperative unique chaos of Horizon Arcade was designed with the fun-loving Horizon community in-mind and with these improvements, we hope everyone can now join in the action.

Horizon Open
We’ve refined Horizon Open to provide a smoother, more streamlined, and more enjoyable racing experience. First, the number of races in Open Racing events before a car change has been reduced from 5 to 3. We’ve removed The Goliath from the pool to prevent the long wait times for race completion and we’ve also eliminated S2 Cross Country races from the class rotation.

Furthermore, Street Races in Horizon Open will now be at night-time – we’ve fixed an issue where no traffic would spawn for online Street Races – and we’ve made the final checkpoint in Street Races visually distinct from normal checkpoints. Beyond this, we’ve also adjusted The Marathon icon, so it no longer overlaps the Horizon Street Scene outpost icon on the map.

Additionally, we’ve fixed an issue with HUD scoring in Open Drifting, while in Playground Games events, an issue that caused players to see the incorrect points total when a player left has also been rectified.

Lastly, we’ve introduced randomized Car Drop spawn positions in The Eliminator as we continue to work on further improvements to this game mode. We have also changed map filters to include The Eliminator map icon under multiplayer events, rather than Festival sites.

Exploits
Exploits have been a common complaint amongst the Forza Horizon 5 community and we’re taking some necessary steps to alleviate their harm towards both the game and our players.

Firstly, any lap times from EventLab Blueprint events will no longer be erroneously posted to the Rivals leaderboard for the race route at that corresponding starting location. Additionally, players are no longer able to post to Rivals and PR Stunt leaderboards when using modified game speed settings. Similarly, it is no longer possible to tune a car to a higher class before starting a race originally intended for lower PI vehicles.

Festival Playlist
Seasonal PR Stunts had a pesky bug where they would sometimes require 1mph/1ft/1m more despite the player already meeting the completion criteria. This is now fixed. In the Festival Playlist, we’ve also added the option to 'View Eligible Cars' for Seasonal PR Stunts.

Furthermore, we’ve fixed an issue where the Festival Playlist displayed more points earned than what’s meant to be achievable, and reduced the Horizon Arcade completion requirement.

PC
In addition to ongoing stability fixes, Forza Horizon 5 has received numerous PC-specific fixes and improvements. First, the messaging around outdated drivers has been made clearer, while an issue where the Pause Menu could show two tabs at once when changing focus away from the game and unpausing with a controller has been fixed.

We’ve also prevented the mouse from being able to move the camera during a pre-race cinematic and fixed an issue where mouse input was being ignored after completing a Horizon Story.

The low video memory warning will no longer be displayed incorrectly when running on AMD Renoir CPUs, while the issue with graphical artefacts around the screen edge caused by playing at 3440x1440 resolution has also been resolved.

On Steam, an issue that showed incorrect pricing for the Car Pass and Premium Add-Ons Bundle has been rectified.

Forza Horizon 5 players on wheel using a Logitech G920 will now see the correct button prompts displayed on-screen.

Our teams continue to work on fixes to further improve and optimize the Forza Horizon 5 PC experience, so look out for even more changes in future updates.................

Series 2 starts today and the streets are lined with cool holiday decorations! I only missed out on one of the seasonal rewards last series and it was the Radical RXC and it was mainly due to bugs where I would get the seasonal PR stunt, but it would not register. Still pretty fun overall. The have done a great job with this environment. I have even enjoyed some of the cross country and street racing events which I normally detest. See if you can beat my Monthly Rivals time of 01:16.081 in the DeLorean DMC-12 at the twisty, tunnel filled Cathedral Circuit. The DeLorean in it's stock form is not a fast car and definitely requires some patience to figure out how to make it go fast around this circuit.

I embarrassed to say there is so much going on in this game I don't even know what the season events are or half of what I can do. I just drive around and if I see a new event hit it. I like the cross country stuff especially near the coast.

It is obnoxiously massive. I agree with you. I have no idea what I am supposed to do next to do each seasons events. I just drive and find the boards and new cars. lol.

Same. Hell, I didn't understand the structure of FH 4 one bit, and FH 5 is even more perplexing. Still a ton 'o fun, though.

Yeah I'm in the same boat, I am loving it but no idea what I am supposed to do. Also I clearly have it set to easy or something because I suck at these games but every event I enter I win and it shows friends times and I'm always beating them and I know there is no way that is true. I know how to jump into a race with rando's, or at least I think I do but what if you wanted a race with friends online?

Anyway this is my pick up and play game when I have 30 minutes.

First, you can set the difficulty before each event...so you can bump it up to make it more difficult. The "friends" times you see are just generic really, not the actual times your friends have completed it. They are avatars - to make it look like you're playing w/ real people. If you check the leaderboards after the race, that WILL show your friends times.
