According to CBS Sports the NFL will open facilities on Saturday and the league will start on Weds if the players approve the CBA. Hopefully they will.

Hopefully they won't! What exactly strikes you as 'collectively bargained' about a contract that was ratified by one party but has yet to be seen by the other party?

This show-vote by the owners is a brash and aggressive PR move to make the players look bad in the public eye. There's nothing collective about an 'agreement' that only one side actually agrees to. Again, the players' side has yet to see the document the owners ratified.

And let's not forget, the owners have locked out the players, after unilaterally pulling out of a collectively bargained contract two years before it was due to expire.

Great piece of PR by the owners, at least temporarily, but an awful way to negotiate.

I for one would not be surprised one bit if the players reject it. It is an abrasive move by the owners and according to NFLPA D. Smith "other issues, such as workers' compensation, economic issues and end of deal terms, remain unresolved.

Maybe my thinking is skewed because i'm a SBO but I side with the owners. They are the ones paying the bills and taking the monetary risks. They have offered a fair package to the players. Neither side will walk away from this and say we got the way better deal.

Hopefully they can tweak a few things to the liking of both sides. If the players reject it as others have said the owners will be the ones looking good and not the players. The consensus on Profootballtalk.com is that the players especially D. Smith are being unreasonable.

The NFLPA is no longer a union but they appear to be operating and bargaining as such. I side with the owners.

SBO?

The fact that the owners voted 31-0 should make the players pause.

A lot of the players won't be around when this CBA ends in 10 years. In fact some of them are at the end of their careers so it's fairly responsible of them to sort out what happens at the end of the CBA, how it will affect future players.

I guarantee if the players handed the owners an "agreement" and said they should sign, the owners would not reach for their pens right away.

This move is a slick bit of PR by a very rich and powerful group of people who know how to manipulate information to maximize their bargaining positions. After initiating a lockout and letting it drag on, they now put the onus on the player reps for the start of the season by saying they could begin tomorrow if the NFLPA would just agree to the terms. It's a brilliant way to cover up the ridiculousness of the expectation that the players would ratify the agreement without a thorough vetting.

At least you were able to find the hangout of the other ram fan. That's impressive by itself.

Baseball is my sport of choice to follow...love it. That being said, I am getting pretty excited for the NFL. I'm a huge Eagles fan and huge Fantasy Footaball fan. The sport helps me get thru the fall and earlier winter here in the northeast. I usually don't think about it until about this time of year. The next two weeks are going to be fast moving and exciting. Bring it on!

Good to see sanity and reason rule. A good compromise between both sides. :)
