Actually the OnLive service announced apps. for iPad and Android tablets with an optional bluetooth controller at E3.
http://hothardware.com/News/OnLive%2DUn ... nd%2DiPad/
Pieces are coming into place to make gaming more viable -- better graphics, video output and an installed base which will draw more and more developers.
Support for physical controllers is one of the next steps.

Re: OT: Motorola Xoom
Correct but you're not running emulators on an apple product without voiding your warranty. Right?wco81 wrote:Actually the OnLive service announced apps. for iPad and Android tablets with an optional bluetooth controller at E3.

Re: OT: Motorola Xoom
Emulators of what, like NES or Genesis or some other old emus?
Or something like the PS2 or PSP?
I wouldn't have much interest but if it's available to jailbroken units, I guess other people would do it. I haven't really followed the jailbreaking scene so I don't know if they would even know you've jailbroken. I think it's mostly an issue with iPhones, because once you upgrade to a certain baseband revision, you might have to wait until it's cracked again. But I was under the impression that any jailbreak could always be reverted.
iOS will get enough development interest for all kinds of games, including probably some retro games. And most of these will be cheap that you don't have to try to dig up old roms.

Re: OT: Motorola Xoom
I'm going to check out the Galaxy Tab later this week at BB. Is there an Android 3.1 OS release I read about or does the Galaxy Tab use the 3.0?

Re: OT: Motorola Xoom
3.0 came on my xoom and there was an update immediately. I haven't looked into the Samsung but if I remember correctly there is an update for the Sammy in the UK so you simply have to change location. It'll probably be released in the us at launch if I had to guess.Rodster wrote:I'm going to check out the Galaxy Tab later this week at BB. Nope. The emulators are freely available to any android device in the android market. No root required.Naples39 wrote:I thought you to run emus on android you had to 'root' it which voids the warranty too?

Re: OT: Motorola Xoom
Anyone that's rocking an Android tablet...I suggest getting Thumb Keyboard from the Amazon app store. Its on sale today for .99 and it's completely badass.
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/06/15/th ... at-amazon/
The tablet version of Swype 3.0 (beta) is available as well...
Both keyboards are a significant upgrade over stock Honeycomb (3.0 or 3.1) in my opinion.

Probably should have just went with 16gb for $500 but decided against it.

Re: OT: Motorola Xoom
Ok so what's the thing or things that standout over the iPad 2? Why 16 instead of 32GB? Is it SSD?
Does Walmart sell these things or is it BB?
DB is this the new Galaxy Tab?

Dude, we already went over this. I sent you the links. Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the name. Can be purchased in a variety of places (Best Buy, Amazon.com, Tiger Direct, Fry's Electronics).Rodster wrote:Ok so what's the thing or things that standout over the iPad 2? Why 16 instead of 32GB? Is it SSD?

Not necessarily better than iPad 2...like the size and weight better, Android Operating system...not nearly as mature as the iOS but then again, the iPad is just a big iPhone so it should be mature, it's almost 5 years old in terms of Operating System years. Honeycomb (the Android Tablet OS) is 6 months old so it'll catch up and it's actually an OS designed for tablets, not phones. Most people like iOS better...nothing wrong with that. It's safe and structured. Android is a little more risky, but with that risk comes a lot of customization options and openness. So it's all a matter of what you prefer.
Re: OT: Motorola Xoom
So why do you regret buying the 32GB version? Is there ANYTHING that's lacking? I've read the Amazon reviews and no SD slot, not a deal breaker for me. I've read the 1280x800 rez looks amazing. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: OT: Motorola Xoom
Because i probably only need 16. There is a usb adapter so if you really need to expand or connect a hard drive you can.Rodster wrote:So why do you regret buying the 32GB version? And yes...best tablet screen by far. Colors and viewing angle are top notch compared to every other tablet on the market.Rodster wrote:I've read the 1280x800 rez looks amazing.

It's really a sickness to be on the cutting edge of technology for at least a day..I picked up my GTab earlier today and got the 32GB as well. Probably only needed the 16 like DB but figured I might as well get all the storage I could while I had the chance.

It will be a few months...at least till the tegra three tablets start releasing lol. This tab is awefully nice to use. Quite a bit more comfortable than the ipad 2 even.Darkbandit wrote:It's really a sickness to be on the cutting edge of technology for at least a day..I picked up my GTab earlier today and got the 32GB as well.
