He said he didn't have a conference preference so I am putting you guys down as Conf. USA and you can work out the teams when he gets back.

Scoop and I both being from Illinois are obviously going with the SEC. :)

We'll work out our teams.

Trane you can go ahead and pick your conference and team of your choice. Assuming Scoop and I plus Jared and eman can work out team selection then there is no need to random draw the teams.

dd trane are you in on this or not? I've seen you online here a few times today and you're the only one who has yet to select a conference or team.

Guys were moving forward with 8 the reason I wanted to keep this small has just been pointed out.

I obviously want to give everyone time to get the game and get comfortable and I need to work out sliders etc. But there is an issue we need to address right away and it is the rosters.

There is a confirmed problem with the rosters and any edited named rosters are fubar. Some claim that if you take Pasta's original file and don't do any edits then your fine. I'm not sure I am willing to take that chance.

Now it seems if we use the game to auto name the players fictionally there is no issue. I don't plan on setting up the dynasty to this weekend thus giving everyone a chance to get the game etc, so we can see what shakes out.

So the choices are:

1. User Pasta's rosters and hope nothing happens
2. Auto Generate named rosters.
3. use just the default no name rosters (I can tell you i am not down for this one)

Please let me know, also if anyone thinks they won't have the game by this weekend let me know.

From what I've read on OS, Pastapadre has taken his rosters down. DT Linder has a set up, though, that you can access with the gamertage EARoster com (with a space between the r and the c). I think we should just use those. We're not going to edit them before we start anyway, so that should work just fine.
The sing-along songs'll be our scriptures.

Yeah, from what I've read, his seem to be working okay. I will check it out tonight.

I just got home with the game, but from what I've read elsewhere, Pasta's are fine as long as you don't touch them at all.

I'm okay with trying his and seeing if it works. If it's FUBAR when we start the season, the just set up the dynasty over again with another roster file.

Or, try DT Linder's.

I don't want to play with default no-name rosters, and would rather not play with auto-generated rosters (although, after a few seasons it won't matter anyway).

DT are as screwed as any one else. bottom line if you edit anything there is a magical, mystical number that cause the game to s*** the bed.

However just downloading Pasta's, or DT's which were basically Pasta's and not editing them should be fine.

This was posted over at OS:
We think we have a workaround for the roster issues until the patch.

After downloading a roster from the EA Locker, immediately reboot your console to clear the memory. Then when you load the roster file you should be ok with it.

You will still corrupt the roster if you make edits to lots of different teams, so back up your files often. I suggest multiple saves instead of saving over the old file. You should be OK making edits to all the players on one or two teams.
I just did exactly that, downloaded DT Linder's roster (GT: EArosters com), it asked me to save them (I did, calling them DTLinder) and rebooted my console.

Fired it up and all teams seem to be there, playing a game now....

I think as long as we're only using a name's roster, not one that the person did alot of editing of equipment, depth charts, etc.... we'll be just fine.

I agree JD, still gonna give it a couple of days for everyone to get comfortable and find some good sliders.

Absolutely. We need a few days to just fart around with it and play some games online together.

The sliders will be tough because we need to set them up good for vs AI play (the majority of the time) but still play well against each other too.

Guys it is clear the kicking game is broken. We have two choices:

I up the kick power which results in longer kicks.

We auto sim the kickoffs and punts.

Actually the 3rd is we do nothing everyone is in the same boat so we all get the same advantage.

I'm open to other suggestions or just a vote on it.

Haven't picked up the game yet but that is a bummer to hear. I'd vote for simming KO and punts personally.

I'd rather have control of the kicking game if we can make it happen. Think about it, lets say your entire season comes down to final FG. Would we really want that play simmed?

I haven't had time to read through the impressions thread - whats actually wrong with it?

It's not field goals, this is kick returns and punt returns. I haven't decided what we'll do.

I vote to adjust it with the sliders, it works fine then.

I'm using the following special teams sliders with some success:

(Human/CPU)
fg power 20 20
fg acc 0 0
punt power 40 40
punt acc 50 50
ko power 65 65

I guess i don't understand how slider can fix guys not running to the ball but heading towards a spot.

Plus isn't there a thread that the sliders for cpu don't work. I really don't want to sim it either though.

I thought I read that one of the guys from EA said that the CPU sliders don't work.

they don't I just spent 40 minutes in practice mode testing this. What works in whatever you set for Human works for both human and cpu.

Go into practice mode and set QB accuracy to 0 for human and then let the cpu be the QB on offense they can't complete a thing. Now set Human Accuracy to 100 and repeat the complete everything.

I tested every slider, they are all like that.

I'm also convince that the penalty sliders don't work and probably never have.

Well as bad as it sounds I was able to adjust the sliders to get the game playing how i want with the exception of the cpu running. In order to get the cpu to have a better running attack you have to raise the Human sliders and then, at least for me, I am running at will. So it looks like we'll just have to deal with the cpu running.

Good news is i was able to fix punts and kick returns to an extent, still can't fix the bad lanes the cpu takes on returns but it's better.

For all it's warts and there are many that are inexcusable, the game is still fun to play. I am going to get the Dynasty set up so we can start doing pre-season stuff and everyone isn't rushed with that. Hopefully the Online Dynasty will make it worth while.

As an outsider to the league, but someone who is trying to manage the same issues as you guys, what did you end up with on punt returns?

I was using a house rule to just stand still until the D had a chance to get down field, but then I still never have the need for a fair catch. I was actually thinking of dropping the punt length to see if that helped.
