Kent St: 23
Temple: 21

Temple jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Kent State clawed back down the field with a Zeppo-like 11 play, 70 yard drive that ended in a whopping 3. Suddenly Kent came alive, Temple retreated a bit, and scores were traded. Temple led 14-10 in the 2nd before a beautiful bomb and a missed interception made it 21-10, but Kent WR Cameron Bob just refused to be tackled and caught a 68 yard hitch-and-scamper that closed the gap to 21-17. At halftime, it looked like neither team was going to play defense.

That lasted about 10 seconds into the second half.

In the second, neither team could do anything right, with huge stops and a couple of key drive-killing interceptions, one per team. Finally Kent QB Julian Edelman fired a strike to WR Shawn Bayes that Bayes took to the goal line but couldn't cross.

One play later, Edelman punched in the go-ahead score and put Kent up 23-21 with a simple PAT try to follow. However, Temple Sophomore DT Daniel Popper blasted through the line on the PAT try, swatting down the kick and making the final minutes a lot more interesting. The gap was only 2 points.

Temple drove close enough to attempt a 42 yard field goal with sharp passing on 3rd downs, but the FG attempt was wide left. Kent did nothing with the football, giving it back with just under 2 minutes left in the game, and again punted back to the Owls. Temple QB Adam DiMichele was sharp throughout the contest, completing 15 of 26 passes for 281 yards and 3 scores, with 1 interception. He took a key sack that knocked the Owls back to their own 40 and forced a 3rd and 19, yet threw a laser that left Temple close enough to attempt a game winning FG with :19 left on the clock from the 30 yard line.

That attempt was:

WIDE RIGHT!!!!!!!!

Kent celebrated, Temple screamed, and there was much joy heard over my microphone, but not so much over Leadfoot's.

I can't believe how many of these league games are fantastic contests. That was epic, one of the most fun football games I've ever played, man. Great, great game.

Arkansas St: 27
Air Force : 3

Arkansas St. opens the season with a pleasing victory against visiting Air Force. The Indians got on the board first with 39 yd pass from Corey Leonard to Kevin Jones. Air Force quickly followed up with a FG to make it 7-3. After a pick, the Indians were driving again only to have it stall with a nice D stand by the Falcons. A FG attempt went wide left and the Falcons had a chance to try and put another score on the board. Not moving the ball well and with time running out on the half Indian's CB Montis Harris intercepted a forced Falcon pass and returned it 52 yards to the house.
<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1125873317&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>
This proved to be the Pontiac Game Changing Performance and left the Falcon players stunned for only a minute as the PAT was blocked and life seemed to breath in them as they went into the locker room. What a bizzare ending to a half that should have been 7-3 but instead was 13-3
<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1125966501&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

The 2nd half started with Arkansas St receiving the kickoff and driving 70 yds and using up 4 min and 21 seconds of the clock. The drive was capped by a 3 yd by HB Reggie Arnold.

After the quarter consuming drive, Air Force was intercepted 10 seconds into their first drive of the 2nd half. After using up the rest of the 3rd quarters clock, Ark St scored on a 17 yd run by Reggie Arnold and started the 4th with a bang. Going into the endzone, Arnold stiff armed the CB trying to make the stop and his ribs were bruised from the stiff arm forcing the Falcon DB out for a few plays.
<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1126003075&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

Air Force threw an INT 3 minutes into the 4th quarter to DB Montis Harris thus giving him 3 picks for the game and earning himself the Player of the game honors.

After an Indians punt that pinned the Falcons on the 2 yd line they completed a few quick passes trying to make it respectable but the Falcon QB threw his 4th pick of the gamewith 14 seconds left on the clock. The Arkansas St DB could have went for six but knowing the game was in hand, dove to the ground to celebrate.

Good Game Vader, I know the score doesn't look like it, but this was not the blow out it seems. Four turnovers and a heart breaker at the half really hurt. I had a lot of fun and we both were amazed at a few things we saw.

Sorry if my "recap" is too much. Just had to use the embedding here :D

Air Force 3
Arkansas State 27

Air Force opened their season on the road against Arkansas State and only managed a field goal and lost 27-3. Trailing 7-3 with 6 seconds to go in the first half the Air Force quarterback throws an interception that was returned for a touchdown and despite blocking the ensuing extra point the Falcons were unable to get any offense going in the second half.

Baylor 14
Air Force 34

With good play from their running back and defense in the home opener for Air Force they were able to come away with a win over Baylor by a score of 34-14. The game was an offense explosion in the first half with Baylor only trailing by a field goal at 17-14 at the end of the first half but the Falcon defense came up big in the second half and overall in the game with 4 interceptions to lead the way for Air Force.

Fun games Seminole and Rusted Walleye.

I saved a couple of replays in the first game and then in the second game no matter what play I selected to view the replay of it kept showing the final play of the game. Went to the main screen and checked for the replays I saved from the first game and they were gone, so I don't know what the deal is with the videos not saving for me.

Just an awesome game all around, and my first on-line with NCAA08. Terry was nice in his writeup mentioning Temple's passing game. What he didn't mention was the net 2 yards the Owls gained on the ground. Ugh.

The two missed FG's were BRUTAL. I feel like a Bills fan tonight, like I've been punched in the gut... 8)

I'll be on tonight (Idaho) looking to play someone. Doesn't matter who. Someone just send me a challenge. Probably will be on after 11 PM eastern time.

EDIT: SPanner, just saw that you are on my schedule. I will look for you tonight, what time will you be on?

I will actually be playing on my Cowboys59 account.

I'm away at the in-laws for the weekend, so I won't have the chance to get the league module up. I hope to do this sometime on Monday. Keep posting results in this thread, and I'll input everything then.

In the meantime, Seminole PM'ed me with instructions re: posting game highlights on Brightcove:

1. create a highlight from the menu after your game and save it to 360 hard drive
2. In the main menu of the game, go to your highlights and upload the highlights you want to easportsworld.com (my login is email and pass I used for the game when I signed up to play online)
3. Go to that site and when you view the video there is a little option to download the file.
4. Upload the file (leaving in flv (flash) is fine for brightcove.com)
5. There will be an option to GET CODE from the video, this is the embedded code needed.
6. Post embedded code (taking out what you said)

Oh, and Blub, I love the idea of bringing back the old SR bowl games, so we'll do that with 10 bowl games. Since divisions are uneven, we'll figure out something creative to do with the worst team in the West. (any ideas?)

Arkansas St: 31
Kansas: 17

The Kansas Jayhawks came to Indian Stadium with hopes of starting off their season right. Unfortunately a sloppy first half saw them down 24-0 at the half.

The Indians struck quickly with a 44yd TD pass to Kevin Jones from Corey Leonard. After the ensuing kick off Kansas was eager to answer and started the drive with a play action pass that was thrown into coverage and picked off.
<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1126011633&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

On the very next play the Indians struck again, this time on a little crossing route to Jones that ended up going 29yds for a TD.
<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1127708934&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

14 points in a little over one minute and the Jayhawks hopes seemed to be dashed early. Kansas went 3 and out on their next possession and the Indians scored yet again and the route seemed to be on.

The 2nd quarter was filled with much less action as the only points scored came on a 26yd FG by the Indians. At the half, the Jayhawks trailed 24-0

Spanner seemed to keep his players spirits hopes up during the half and they came out with some fire as they completed a quick pass for 13yds to start the half but stalled after that and were forced to punt. But no one told their defense they were out of things as they forced Arkansas St to a 3 and out and the ensuing Jayhawk drive was a long one. One which saw them move the ball with ease. Three minutes later, and they were on the board with a 2yd TD run by their FB.
After the D was so successful on the the last series, their confidence was high, but a simple toss to Reggie Arnold turned into a 42yd scamper that put the dagger in the Jayhawks and that play earned the Pontiac game changing performance.
<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1125840791&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

The Jayhawks did score a safety and had another nice TD ending drive but it was all too late as the Indians held on for a 31-17 victory.

Good game Dad, 4 turnovers (all INTs) really hurt. The game gave the game changing performance to the long run in the 3rd, but it had to be the first INT thrown that led to the 14-0 deficit a minute into the game.

On another note, This is Spanners first time playing NCAA (or any football game) since NCAA 2002. I believe this was the first NCAA on the PS2. He is getting better and with time will be handing out losses.

Fresno St. 41 KU 13

The game once again started slow for Fresno State, the fumbled the opening kickoff which KU converted to 3 points. Then on their next possession they botched an option pitch. KU drove down to the goal line, but Fresno made a nice stand and quickly found themselves down 6 -0.

From there it was all Fresno, as they rattled off 41 unanswered points. Fresno's freshmen running back enjoyed a stellar day. As he ripped off the first of his 3 TD runs for 52 yards in the 2nd quarter to put the Bull dogs up 7-6

<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1127714952&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

Miller busted his next one for 45 yards showing he can run up the middle as well as on the corners.

<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1125873366&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

The game was not in doubt by this point and a simple counter to kill time turned into the longest run of the day at 78 yards.

<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1125989102&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

Ku had an excellent kick return to cap the games scoring, I didn't grab this one.

Good game Spanner, I've been on the other end of these and I know how frustrating it can be, some of these run we simple dives where he had the right D called and Miller just broke them lose.

Got it; I was in some weird 'assets' area at first, but now I seem to be in the normal brightcove area.

Here are some highlights of my heartbreaking loss to XXXIV's Miami OH team:

First is a pick by Duke CB #7 that was returned deep into Miami OH territory, only to be fumbled back and give Miami OH a fresh set of downs:

<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1127745509&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

Next, we see Duke take 10-7 lead late in the first half with a great one handed catch on a 23 yd TD pass on 3rd and long:

<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1127745518&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' swpluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

MiamiOH ended up getting a late field goal to tie the score at 10-10 before the half.

In the 3rd quarter, Duke, ahead 13-10, extended their lead to 20-10 on this INT for a TD:

<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1127736990&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' swpluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

But just as Duke scored 10 unanswered points in the 3rd, so MiamiOH came back in the 4th with this TD pass to trim the lead to 3 at 20-17:
<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1126011638&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' swpluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

And MiamiOH scored the final points of the game making it 14 unanswered on this insane 85 yd TD pass - what happened to the DB? I was pressing the A button, the A button I say!

Final score 24-20, MiamiOH.

<embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination ... player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=1127759532&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' swpluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ... h'></embed>

actually there is an option to get code and its right on the video player. Its at the bottom right beside the LINK option.

AS a matter of fact, just look at the videos above, the little circle with two arrows in it, thats the get code button. But both ways work :)

Oh, and Blub, I love the idea of bringing back the old SR bowl games, so we'll do that with 10 bowl games. Since divisions are uneven, we'll figure out something creative to do with the worst team in the West. (any ideas?)[/quote]

"Worst of the West" Looks like Kansas is well on it's way to this title. Blown out in my 1st two games. When the season is over, I could play myself in the "Wizard of Oz Bowl"
