Re: Grand Theft Auto V
Not sure if these are connected in any way, but I tried to get a few games in of COD yesterday around 4pm and got disconnected three times. Issue with Live maybe?
Re: Grand Theft Auto V
Xbox Live issues were probably related to all the extra traffic from the GTA Online launch.
Last night I created a character, got stuck on the game loading screen and gave up after a few minutes.

I'm through the tutorial and finally able to take/create jobs! Then I had to go to work.

I created a new Drop Shot Posse emblem, Pete. If you guys like it, feel free to use it. I tried to upload it as the new emblem, but it doesn't show up for me. It's in the library, though, so let me know if you can see it.

I can't see it either. It's showing as a blank image. Probably another broken feature that needs to get fixed. Go Rockstar!Teal wrote:I created a new Drop Shot Posse emblem, Pete. I created a character last night but wasn't able to even watch the opening scene and at first after downloading the patch the single player game started off from the beginning and I thought my saved game was wiped out but after a restart it then loaded up correctly.

Y'know, it's one thing to have glitches here and there, as they said there would be. But to only see "the Rockstar cloud servers are unavailable right now. Please try again later", or to never be able to get beyond the intro, or to be perpetually stuck in the "waiting for other players" vacuum, all of which translate into "you will not be playing online at all"...that's just not cool.

Totally FUBAR.
At least the offline game is awesome and worth the $59. If it was 100% online or the offline blew i'd be pissed off but since I'm fine with the online still getting sorted out.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
Yeah, I'm already pretty sick of it. I enjoyed the campaign immensely, but, just like other open world stuff, the shiny objects that keep you interested lose their luster fairly quickly...especially under the anticipation of playing online with this 'posse' we have. As it stands, there's no telling how long this will go on. Tomorrow, I might actually get to play the damned thing...might not. BUT how long until we can actually do things as a group, run missions, do heists, all that? Seems impossible in a game that won't even let this guy into a single random world. I know there's more to do in this than in RDR, but I don't remember ever having this much trouble getting online.

After numerous tries I eventually got online and finished the two tutorial online missions but was unable to get back on again.
I know, "patience grasshopper". I still have plenty left of the single player game to complete.

STILL haven't sniffed getting online. This is ridiculous. Bought the game 2 weeks ago, waited for Online and now can't get online at all. Bullshit.

Yep. This game might just help fund Batman:Arkham Origins in a few weeks. The longer this takes, the less enthused I am about it. I'm thinking it'll take a long dang time to get this thing running all the stuff that was promised.

LOL at Francis. Made me think of this, which is also appropriate behavior when discussing GTA
Re: Grand Theft Auto V
I was so excited to try this. It has been 2 days of staring at the "launching session", "waiting for players" garbage on the tutorial mission. Figured I'd try to join some random dude it matched me with on the tutorial mission, but then it says "You must complete the tutorial missions first".
OK, back to waiting some more. I once left it for 30 minutes just sitting there.
Frustration doesn't begin to cover it. I guess the only question I have is "how long do I wait before I know it's in limbo"? If it's 2 minutes, is that too long? Kick out, try again? I mean, I know SOME people got online--how did they get past it? How long was the wait?

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
For those having trouble getting into the required race tutorial mission in GTA V Online you may want to try what I did. If you've already created your online character go back to Create your character screen and enter online through there.
I was able to get the tutorial race going with just Lamar (I lost, of ccourse. ). After that, another tutorial mission (drug steal and delivery) is required before you can enter all the other online game modes.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
I guess I'm in the minority when I say I completely expected them to botch this launch. I remember dealing with the Diablo III and Sim City fiasco last year and I just know that companies underestimate the requirements for their online architecture. You'd have thought with Diablo III and Sim City last year, absolutely crushing server loads, and requiring months of adding servers and tweaking code, they would have learned, but alas, if it's a big company with blockbuster on it's hands...you might as well wait two weeks (to two months). It also didn't help that they didn't launch it WITH the release of the game. Bad things were bound to happen. I tried it late last night and of course nothing worked so I said F it.

Amen! On a scale of 1-10, my level of aggravation about this is around 1.5. Too many other good options right now. I may not. If I've learned anything about DSP over the years, it's that this will fracture the hell out of any sense of cohesive online presence amongst DSP partisans. It's hard enough to get good turnout on a game that works right out of the box for more than a couple weeks nowadays...lol

I'm not quite to that Youtube-video guy. I just keep trying now and then. What I expected from a multi-billion dollar company was to possibly have servers that kicked me off, rolled back progress, had lag spikes and general matchmaking issues.dbdynsty25 wrote:I guess I'm in the minority when I say I completely expected them to botch this launch. What I didn't expect is to be on day #3 and still have yet to have 2 seconds of actual online play time. Expecting a fiasco is one thing...expecting a major launch that they've been touting for months without being able to even sniff it is another. I've been through dozens of online launches, and never have I been completely unable to play it for 3+ days.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I been able to play about 3 hours total online, mostly early this morning and at lunch. Have done some re-po missions, Team death match and one escort mission where my teamates were clueless on what was going on. The rest of the time I have been holding up stores and stealing/selling cars (an easy $3-4k).
Once they get this up and running properly it should be a blast. I always let the single player story load first, then go to the pause menu and select the online tab. From there I choose just play GTA online, have not messed with telling it to match me up with crew or friends.
The only hiccup I had was on the night it launched. During the loading of the initial race I waited about 15-20 minutes. During that time I could see other characters come and go, some lasted a long time some left quickly. But my race finally loaded when everyone else left and my guy was the only one left. I won my race, pretty easy, and then my game hung on a blurry sky view, like when it zooms out when switching characters. I didn't wait that one out and just turned off my xbox and didn't play again until early this morning. It loaded up fine, my character was still there, and I completed the other tutorial missions. And it loaded up fine when I played at lunch.
Dont know if making sure to load the single player first and switching to online thru the pause menu will help anyone else, but has worked for me.
