I think that since the show is about 100x more popular than the books, it's a legitimate beef. Although I'd never expect anything but spoilers on twitter anyway.
While I know you were generalizing I would be curious how accurate that is and how you would quantify it. I'm too lazy to look up the number of books sold vs weekly tv ratings and I'm not even sure that would compare.

While I agree the show is likely more popular, anything based on a book IMO is free of being spoiled. People could of found out what happened last night long before the look at me twitter crowd, if you go on twitter the night of a popular show you haven't seen you're at fault IMO

Bronn should have his own comedy.

I definitely agree with that.

I'm intrigued by the readers v. viewers issue. No way to say for sure, but sales figures vary for the book from 6 million to 15 million copies sold of the Fire and Ice series in total. Surely GoT (the first book) sold many more copies than the subsequent books, but with five in the series we'll give it the benefit of the doubt and say that 3 million people have read each book.

HBO said that Season 3 averaged 15 million viewers...per week. That doesn't even include DVD sales (not sure about streaming).

My 10:1 ratio looks a bit low, I think.

Ha, just when you think this show can't find a new way to repulse you, PRESTO!

Also funny that two characters who seemed like they were on the path to redemption, Jaime and the Hound, reverted to their baseline personalities in the same episode.

you knew the Hound was gonna take their silver.

He didn't kill them both, so maybe he is reformed.

Good observation but I dont have them on the same track.

The Hound has shown flashes through out the series. He saved that Loras Tyrell from his brother in season one for some reason... He needs silver for chickens!

Jaime threw a little boy out of a tower window for catching him f*** his sister..... I personally can never forgive that no matter how many giant women he saves from bear attacks.

Well, when you put it that way.... :D

I thought maybe they were going to go with the redemption angle with him, given how he acted with Brienne last season and his maiming. But, nope, that scene pretty much dispelled that notion.

Supposedly in the books, the scene was not played out as a rape.

But the director of this episode claimed that by the end it is consensual.

Seems like it was just a poorly scripted/shot scene.

GRRM's take on how it was portrayed in the book:
"I think the “butterfly effect” that I have spoken of so often was at work here. In the novels, Jaime is not present at Joffrey’s death, and indeed, Cersei has been fearful that he is dead himself, that she has lost both the son and the father/ lover/ brother. And then suddenly Jaime is there before her. Maimed and changed, but Jaime nonetheless. Though the time and place is wildly inappropriate and Cersei is fearful of discovery, she is as hungry for him as he is for her.

The whole dynamic is different in the show, where Jaime has been back for weeks at the least, maybe longer, and he and Cersei have been in each other’s company on numerous occasions, often quarreling. The setting is the same, but neither character is in the same place as in the books, which may be why Dan & David played the sept out differently. But that’s just my surmise; we never discussed this scene, to the best of my recollection.

Also, I was writing the scene from Jaime’s POV, so the reader is inside his head, hearing his thoughts. On the TV show, the camera is necessarily external. You don’t know what anyone is thinking or feeling, just what they are saying and doing.

If the show had retained some of Cersei’s dialogue from the books, it might have left a somewhat different impression — but that dialogue was very much shaped by the circumstances of the books, delivered by a woman who is seeing her lover again for the first time after a long while apart during which she feared he was dead. I am not sure it would have worked with the new timeline.

That’s really all I can say on this issue. The scene was always intended to be disturbing… but I do regret if it has disturbed people for the wrong reasons."
"Be tolerant of those who describe a sporting moment as their best ever. We do not lack imagination, nor have we had sad and barren lives; it is just that real life is paler, duller, and contains less potential for unexpected delirium." -Nick Hornby

I think this the best season since the first. They manage to jump around to the different characters, but it doesn't have the same running in place feel that some episodes in season 2 and 3 had. Every episode has just flown by.
