Boys:

After Oklahoma´s 77-0 thrashing of Texas A&M today, I wonder if this Sooners´ team is one of the best ever in college football.

Oklahoma has outscored three Big 12 South opponents -- Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma St. -- by a combined score of 194-22 this year.

Okie scored on 10 of its first 11 possessions today. It ripped the tits off of a supposedly decent Texas team Oct. 12.

It almost seems that there will be no BCS controversy this year because Oklahoma should handle -- at worst -- and destroy -- at best -- any team it plays in the national championship game.

OK, college football gurus who have seen Okie this year: Where do the 2003 Sooners rate among the all-time top teams of the last 35 years, assuming that the oldest of us in here is around 45?

Take care,

I think they are possibly. Although I think the Big 12 is down this year, and they really haven´t played anyone out of conference that was all that tough.

However if they continue to roll through conference like they have, including the Big 12 champ game, and win their Bowl game decisively then they would have to be considered.

Personally I think they are by far the best team in the country this year, and that defense is just stifling.

So to make a short answer even longer, I think they are, but want to see how they play out the season.

I really hope USC wins out and gets to play OK in the Natl. Champ. USC has many great offensive weapons and are fast on defense.

Would be a great matchup.

I can see USC getting upset and a crappy Fla. St. team playing the Sooners. Oklahoma would crush them.

Hold on a minute...I think "best team ever" talk is a little premature. Let´s wait until they win something first.

With that said, I think they are playing the best football right now...but I don´t think they´re unbeatable. I definitely think that if they make it to the champ game, their opponent (whomever it is) will give them a good game. I even think that the Big 12 champ game will be alot closer than most people think.

Are they one of the greatest teams ever...

NO

Too much parity now in football as a whole...NFL and NCAA...they are a good team that will win it all this year but I can think of 3 Miami teams alone that could beat them. Plus there are about 5 others off the top of my head.
Thankfully, that scenario went out the window on Saturday. While I am a huge Seminole fan, and feel like we have a very good defense, our offense is flawed and predictable. We also have a QB who has apparently not learned very much in the 3 years he has been starting. Here is a guy with twice the physical skills of Charlie Ward and none of the football sense. He just is not capable of GETTING RID OF THE FOOTBALL. Not throwing the ball away just keeps coming back to haunt him.

It was obvious to me - standing in the rain at Doak and watching the Hurricanes win - that neither of those teams were going to win anything this year. FSU for the above reasons and Miami because they should have scored 40+ points in that game. But at least Brock Berlin might learn from his mistakes and become a good QB. Rix has started more games than most QB´s in the college game and still looks clueless.

If Stoops could outcoach Mark Richt with Chris Weinke at QB, Jeff Bowden with Chris Rix would be taking candy from a baby, shooting fish in a barrel. Place your own analogy here.

What is sad for me as an FSU fan, is that my team is not even fun to watch. I take my bathroom and beer breaks when the offense is on the field. My wife has already told me that if we have the same QB and OC next year that I can find someone else to use her season ticket. I hate that we feel that way about a kid playing QB, but we do. I don´t boo him and I keep my comments to myself on the Seminole boards, but I can´t help the way I feel. I hope he gets his degree and has a great life, but I just can´t watch Chris Rix under center.

My user name shows my bias, but this is one of the best teams to play at Oklahoma, but not one of the best offenses. This team is doing it with defense and special teams. The offense is scoring points, but they have good field position. They way to beat Oklahoma is to have Jason White make mistakes and turn the ball over. There is talk he is a leading Heisman candidate, but he is so over rated. They may not be one of the best teams ever, but this may one the best defenses ever.
