Man, Joe Jurevicius made two of the more insane touchdown catches you´ll see tonight on Monday Night Football.

Keeping his feet inbounds on the first TD catch required unreal skill. But the tip, spin and catch on the second TD catch was pure schoolyard magic.

Man, Tampa looks damn good -- especially on D. This unit has all-time great potential if it plays as well this year as it did last year.

Yeah I was on the phone with my pops when he caught those two balls. I said those were two of the best TD catches you will see all year.

after watching every BUCS GAME last year

JOEs catches are almost a weekly occurance or at least it feels that way

he has quickly grown to be the most popular BUC in tampa bay anyway

through the trial n tribulations of his late son

to his herocis on the field
especially the fact he has THE MOST DEFINING CATCH in BUCS HISTORY on JANUARY 19TH 2003 as he caught n ran a 71 yarder on these very EAGLES

in fact THE ST PETE TIMES just voted it this past week the greatest play in the FRANCHISE 27 years

(oh and he is my better halfs favorite player she has a couple of his jerseys)

have to agree those 2 tonight were phenominal...
Like the last line of your post, but I´m just stoked the Bills are 1-0. They look good, and I´m an eternal optimist. But I´m also a realist.

Still, my playoff aspirations zoomed after yesterday´s win. Jacksonville, Miami and Philly will provide good tests for the rest of the month. If the Bills end this month 4-0, then I might start composing a Super Bowl Shuffle, just in case.

I´ll take Chris Chambers catch in the back of the endzone anyday over Joe´s. It was good, but not even in the same league.

Too bad the Dolphins lost. Guess we´ll be playing for first place in week 3 against the Bills after we take care of the Jets this weekend.

As usual, team accomplishments often make more of individuals than should be made. Jason Taylor of the Dolphins led the NFL in sacks last year, and lost out in the Defensive MVP award because the Bucs went to the postseason and the show and Derrick Brooks therefore scooped it up.

Similarly, when Joe J makes a few great catches, he´s the cat´s meow...but sorry. Watch Chris CHambers yesterday and Joe J takes a back seat easily. Difference: Miami lost and is not the reigning SB Champ, and the Bucs won and ARE the reigning SB champ.

Oh well...

Randy:

One factor you and DB forget: How many people nationwide had TV access to the Dolphins´ game Sunday? How many people had TV access to the Monday Night Football game last night?

Easy answer. The whole world doesn´t live in Houston, South Florida or have DirecTV.

So naturally, more people are going to talk about Jurevicius´ catches.

You can make an analogy between these catches and the NASCAR and IRL races last weekend. The NASCAR race was pretty good and punctuated by a fight after the race. The IRL race was insanely good, with one-hundredth of a second separating the top three cars at the finish. Almost a three-way dead heat.

But since NASCAR gets about five times the TV ratings of the IRL, guess which race everyone was talking about at the water coolers Monday?

Sad, but true. Same with Chambers´ catch. I didn´t see it, but I trust it was most excellent.

Out,

PK...it was ridiculous. You´re right...I only could watch the game because I have DirecTV...so your´e right...he doesn´t get the exposure...there is no doubt.

Check out some highlights if you get a chance...it puts Joe´s catches to shame...well not that bad, but it was much better. It was one of the greatest catches I´ve ever seen. I was going balistic (plus at that time the dolphins were actually winning). See you in week 3 bro.

To me, the most amazing thing on Jurevicius´s 1st catch was the THROW. I mean, that was the absolute farthest edge of where it could go, where he stuck that thing. Reminded me of a striker spankin´ one off the INSIDE of the upper 90. Using the ENTIRE goal.

And the second one was a pure sombrero move! Haven´t seen it much in soccer, and never have I seen one like that in football, but the first thing that popped in my head was "SOMBRERO!!! GOLASSO!!!!!!!!!"

The Bucs did look good, that front 4 is just sick. But the Eagles looked pretty poor to me (can´t say that bothers me any, though). They missed quite a few open plays in the 1st half, and you just can´t afford to do that against the best teams. And forget about the pass interference gift that gave them 1st and goal on the 1, an opportunity completely wasted. Not so sure their D is going to be as good as it has been, either; they lost their SS (I think Bishop), an OLB (Barber) and a DE (Douglas), all very good players. That has to weaken them some.

This game was almost a replay of the Championship game last year, whereas Sunday´s AFL rematch went the OTHER way.

Chamber´s catch was insane, no doubt. Velcro hands. Also a very good throw.

DB:

I saw Chambers´ catch when I voted for Play of the Week at NFL.com. Absolutely sick.

My heart had to vote for 360-pound Sam Adams´ interception return for TD for the Bills. But if there was no Bills´ player nominated for Play of the Week, I would have voted for Chambers. That dude just launched for that catch.

"Jason Taylor of the Dolphins led the NFL in sacks last year, and lost out in the Defensive MVP award because the Bucs went to the postseason and the show and Derrick Brooks therefore scooped it up."

Dude - come on! Taylor may be a great pass rusher - but Brooks excels in several different areas: pass rushing, run support, pass coverage, making big plays. Hell - he even gets a few picks per year. I realize that they play different positions and that Taylor is a DE - but Brooks is an amazing player and deserves all of the credit that he gets. Even on that amazingly talented defense, he stands out...

Steeler:

I agree that Brooks is a great player and that Taylor also is groovy.

But Brooks also benefits from the "Tony Siragusa effect." What´s that? A linebacker who benefits from a sick defensive line.

Ray Lewis is a great player, and his best year was the Ravens´ Super Bowl year. The Ravens´ D line, led by the load Siragusa up front, was very, very good that year. They occupied a ton of the opposing offensive linemen, leaving Lewis more free reign to make tackles.

You can say the same thing about Tampa. That defensive line is so quick and disruptive that it occupies most offensive lines in the NFL, allowing Brooks to roam free to make tackles. Brooks makes those tackles, but I don´t think he would be as effective in front of a weaker defensive line.

By the way, I´d take Urlacher over Brooks or Taylor, any day. And my new boy Takeo Spikes is climbing the list, too.

PK....

You have me here, because I was just criticizing Ray Lewis the othe day for being over-rated because of Siragusa and Adams. You´re right - it a very situation with Brokks and the Bucs´ dominant d-line.

And - I am a huge Uhrlacher fan. The guy just goes out makes plays (and he is unbelievable in Madden 2004)...

I´d vote for Adams just because he managed to drag his 360-pound ass 31 yards without a stop for oxygen along the way

As for the Bills, I think they will have an ass-kicking defense this year. With the additions of Adams, Spikes (he´s a monster), and Milloy, you now have a D to fear. Despite losing Price, the offense is still potent.

I predict the Bills will make it into the playoffs as wild card, win the wild card game, and then lose (sorry PK).
