If anyone is having any problems adjusting to the game, I found a great youtuber who is extremely well versed in this game and is awesome at explaining things. His name on YT is Gamer Ability.
does cd keys do digital edition or physical?
Digital only.
that's a very tempting price. I just don't know if I'll enjoy the game as I'm not a hardcore golfer. I sort of still like EA's game because I'm a graphics whore and I put a lot of time into that game. Also, don't know which console to get it for. What console do you have it on?

UPDATE - can you play it now if you get it off cdkeys? I thought the official release was 2/28

They have the deluxe and the legend editions listed on their product page. The deluxe edition is only $82.19. I paid $99.99 for it from the Microsoft store for my XBox. You should be ready to play as soon as you download either of those editions. I think the regular version will go live at midnight tonight.

Does anyone else have a problem pushing short putts in this game? I'm amazed at how hard it is to maintain the swing path, particularly on short to medium range putts in this game. I missed two from inside three feet in our Rushmoor tournament today, by straying way out to the right on my follow through. I have to constantly remind myself of that propensity, but even that is not enough sometimes.

It's challenging and I like that. Sooner or later I'll develop a putting stroke that deals with that, but none the less, I'm still enjoying the heck out of this game!

I suck at putting in general. If you play with my ghost you'll see I two put mostly everything and the rest are usually lucky shots.

Putting is my strength in this game (not that it's great). Tee to green is a real sufferfest for me... hitting greens in regulation are few and far between.

Is it possible to change your archethype? I'm currently a Sculptor, but I ain't sculptin' s***! lol

I am a sculptor as well and was wondering if your hard earned XP points disappear when you choose to go with another character. Having problems hitting it straight still as I must be the King of sand traps landing there frequently and John I also tend to land my putts an inch or two short of the hole so perhaps adding points to the putt weight department is my next goal.

Baby steps I guess, I managed to break par in yesterday’s event.

I played 2K23 for the first time in a long time. I only did career mode with this game

I checked out societies and found one that was for beginners. it was really fun. they had a tourney setup and looks like every week there is a new tourney to play. I never knew this existed because I don't play online. I did my 18 holes and there were others playing too but I never got to see them or wait for them which I liked. They gathered the scores at the end to see how I finished vs the other members.

Is this the same way it works in 2k25? And have their been enhancements to this mode in 2k25?

What's your ovr? Once you get to 90 there's this thing called rebirth where you can create a new my player and it gives you 25 skill points to spend that you don't have to use VC for.

I shot a +10 on today's event and was wondering why I was doing so bad. I heard about some people getting their guy reset back to 65 ovr. Well, I was one of them. I forgot to check before I played. Luckily I just had to redo all the AP and now I'm back at 92ovr.

I played the demo to compare vs 2K23.

So the 2K23 swing arc and power meter when putting is replaced in 2K25 with this new circle UI? Is that right? Or is there a way to put that stuff back??

During the first week of early release for those of us that pre-ordered, the VC you earned for playing was super high. It took less than a week of playing a few hours a day to get my golfer up to a 92 OVR. People that really grinded were able to get 5 or more golfers up over 85. I mean... I definitely enjoyed earning so many rewards so fast, but I have to admit they were a little loose with the VC last week.

So the last patch corrected it. But they went WAY OVERBOARD and corrected it too much. The YouTubers that I follow, along with community pressure, will surely force them to adjust it to some "middle" ground. I wouldn't be surprised if that happens as early as today.

The game is not destroyed, it's still amazing.

It's not destroyed for off-line players such as myself. Those who want to compete online, it's definitely moved to a pay-to-win model where buying VC with real world currency gives a huge upper-hand.

Not only do you earn less VC per round, the cost of attribute points has gone up, VC rewards have been removed, and other things along that nature have been changed. So, it's multi-faceted. It's not just earning less, but everything costs more, too. It's pretty slimy the way they went about it IMO.

how is the offline career mode vs 2k23. that's probably what I'll be mainly playing. Any big upgrades or differences since 2k23? I liked 2k23's career mode but after year 1 it got really boring. But really what more can you do in a career mode but play it again.

more and more people mad at the updates from 2K. They're saying the game was great before today and now everything is ruined.

I'll wait for more of your impressions post patch to decide if I want to pick this up or not.

Played a bunch of rounds tonight. Some multiplayer, won The Players Championship in my career, and had a good round for our society. All great fun with the same mechanics that have been there since day one of early access.

There is nothing ruined about the game - but VC is harder to come by.

Nothing has been ruined.

picked it up and playing all night.

this has probably been addressed here in this thread but i don't feel like going back many pages.

When I played a regular game, the swing was fine. up and down hit.

I went to one of those daily tournaments where it's off easy, and man I have no idea wtf i'm doing w/ the swing.

I do a straight up and down swing and my ball goes way off to the right. I fooled around with it and figured out the angle of the swing window was diagonal and did that where I swing from center and then move it left and it sort of curved to the left. But still a really bad swing.

The tutorial in the beginning of the game didnt address this. Is there another tutorial in the game that explains this?

and my guy is a magician. is that the default? how can I change it? or is that fine?

The way I see it now is that if you don’t have the club house pass you’re at a disadvantage, so newcomers feel the urge to use their CC to get their VC, and XP for the attributes towards building your character. Let fans play the game, grind it out thru Quests, career mode, it may take longer to get the proper VC but unfortunately. 2K has taken a big page out of EA when it comes to advancing the game quickly thru monetary means.

I am still having issues with the Greens, easy 2-3’ foot putts that just deviate at the last minute of the hole or fall short.

I think my character is around the mid 80’s now, choosing wisely your characters’ attributes will be very important for your character’s build.

mid 80s? wow. it seems like it'll take me 6 months to hit 70s with the way the accumulation of points is so difficult.

Played my first society game in a LONG while and shot even par. Had a nice run going at the turn but slipped up a bit and ended up shooting even. The game is very good. Very good. The only thing EAs game has on it IMO is the single player quests. If 2K had those this game would be well beyond EAs offering. The quests in 2K are too general. Quests on specific courses would be great. The graphics are clean, the new mechanics are fair, plenty of of challenge, etc. I haven’t played a course yet where I didn’t say to myself, “man, this a sweet course”. I would love to see more swing style options but that’s just an aesthetic thing. I’ve always thought 2Ks gameplay audio (sound off the club) was better than EA. All my opinion, but this is 2Ks best effort yet.

I lost my cool over it at first because I thought all my attributes had been lost. I played our DSP tournament round at Kennebunk with a beginning level player. I didn't realize at that time that my attributes I'd earned were all still there there in the "My Player" bank, waiting for me to reapply them. I read that after I finished the round, that the update had simply taken all those "additional" attribute points I'd earned and applied, and put them back in my attribute bank.

I was fine after I realized they were all there and I just had to reapply them. It gave me a chance to reapply them in a way that was more to my liking anyway, now that I'd played the game for a while and gotten a better idea of where they could be used.

I thought the game was a little too generous in the way it handed out attribute points and VC early on anyway. I think it's where it should be now. I don't know why they couldn't realize that earlier. I'm still very much enjoying the game as it is.... in fact I can say that it's my favorite golf game of all time already. There is so much depth to the swing interface and the the game's physics, not to mention the best presentation production I've ever seen. It exceeded my expectations by a long shot!

There's an aspect to the short game that I can't quite come to terms with, most specifically, the chipping game. I was already having trouble chili dipping chip shots before the latest update, but now with the update, the rhythm and contact is very unforgiving on chip shots. I chili dipped two chip shots in a row from three feet off the green in yesterday's DSP tournament round, and went from second to last with the triple bogey I wound up with there as a result. I then spent 15 minutes at the practice area playing chip shots from heavy rough. I finally started to get a feel for what is required to hit a delicate chip shot now, but I by no means have it mastered. I think it will wind up being an element of the game that I will eventually come to accept as a reasonable challenge.
