Re: Undisputed - Console versions
I'm expecting an arcadish pile of sh*t from this game. I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Re: Undisputed - Console versions
I just read up on it and it looks like it's bare bones boxing on the PC. If they don't upgrade it for console I doubt i'll buy it. hopefully it's a game that can be on gamepass day 1.

Fight Night Champion, available on GamePass, still is quite good and sim-like with the right settings.

This is coming out this Friday on consoles PS5/XBX.
Anyone planning to pick it up and give impressions?

Not a chance on a blind buy even though I'm the resident boxing fanatic. This developer has no track record. No way I'm dropping full price on a leap of faith, especially when Fight Night Champion with the right slider settings and downloaded community boxers is just fine.

Re: Undisputed - Console versions
It looks like the game is $60 but there is a 'WBC' edition for $80. If that means you have to buy additional boxers for 20 more bucks then screw that.
Maybe I'll wait for this game when it comes on gamepass or when it's available for one of those free play weekends.

Sounds like this game needs a few updates before it's primed for the ring.
Very excited about release of Thrill of the Fight 2 on the Quest in November! The original is just an incredible boxing simulator and a hell of a workout. Mixed reality in my basement with a boxer coming to throw hands is just awesome.

but i was reading the problem w/ boxing games is the contacts. it's not like NFL or MLB where you're dealing with one body. In boxing, they have to make a deal with each boxer. That's why undisputed has so many missing boxers. They just couldn't afford them all. Mayweather was asking for 10million plus sales proceeds. No way an indie developer like Undisputed can afford that.
But maybe EA can? I don't think boxing games sell much outside of the hardcore boxing fan niche. Will be interesting to see how EA approaches this.

Similar to tennis video games, which is disappointing. You would think these boxers, tennis players, etc. would want to grow the game and what better way to do it by being in a video game. But alas, it all comes down to money.Lancer wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 4:54 pmthat's great news.sportdan30 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 10:33 amNew Fight Night coming for this generation of consoles.

As the resident, longtime boxing fanatic in this forum, I can assure you NO ONE in the sport of boxing gives two f*cks about growing the sport. All they care about is money and f*cking over other promotions and fighters.
About the only person in power trying to grow the sport of boxing is Turki Alalshikh, who is using huge Saudi money to make big, cross-promotion firm fights in Riyadh. The money he tosses around is so big that it's bridging promotional divides.
But, Turki's cash also is Saudi blood money, which comes with its usual set of ethical and moral challenges.
