Fantastic. It would be great for 2k to get back in to some other sports too. Ready for some 2K hockey

EXCELLENT news! The last Top Spin may have been the last good tennis game. When was that released, 20 years ago?

The AO Tennis and Tennis World Tour series are AWFUL, as is Matchpoint.

Agree. I tried to play those above games, but they were dreadful. I'd love a new Virtua Tennis as well.

Well, it’s been more than 10 years I guess since I played this game, and after quickly diving into it last night, 2K overall does a fine job trying to emulate the sport of tennis. In real life, the sport is difficult. So when you first play it, timing is difficult to handle but rewarding when you hit the perfect sweet spot, serving with timing and also placing is quite hard to manage unless you have the ‘Perfect shot’. And this was playing with the Pros, so once I create my player, it’ll probably be even harder to connect with the sweetspot.

I like the fact that the AI opponent has its faults too, hitting shots wide and out depending how you can move him around, unlike previous Tennis games where rallies were endless as the AI could return any shots back at you.

Graphics for today’s standards, are a bit disappointing to be frank, some players look very close to their real life appearance whether you’re a classic guy like McEnroe or today’s modern players like Medvedev or Alcaraz. But some others like Federer, misses a bit their appearance although the overall animation of their movements is there.

I’ll definitely dig more into the game today, but the most important part here is that the gameplay is solid, stadiums and presentation well done although the appearance of some players can definitely be improved.

If you like tennis, you won’t be disappointed at this game.

It really is a fantastic game in the court. Agassi looks terrible though so I’m sad.

I like him too, just gotta go thru Season 1 apparently, you can claim an alt era version of Agassi in two of his signature looks as rewards by reaching Free Tier 5 and Free Tier 50.

Downloaded the free trial of Top Spin 2K25, and it still boggles my mind that the original Top Spin by Microsoft and Virtua Tennis -- both released more than 20 years ago -- remain the best console tennis games.

I'll start with the positives of Top Spin 2K25, as it's a short list:
+ Lighting and courts look nice.
+ AI-controlled foes actually commit unforced errors, a rarity in recent tennis games.

Now for the negatives:
- F*ck off, 2K Sports, for forcing me to sign up for a 2K account. Now my email will be bombarded with junk mail from 2K until I unsubscribe.
- Player models look terrible for a 2024 game. Faces look haunted, Andy Murray doesn't look like Andy Murray, and every player has veinous systems that look like the Alaskan Pipeline.
- The ball physics are floaty. We're talking beach-ball floaty. Maybe I'm just a clod, but I have hit power serves and passing shots right in the center of the green sweet spot, and they just float across the net. Ruins the game, especially serves. Nobody has come close to hitting an ace against me. Nobody has blasted a passing shot past me; I've missed a few by half a step, but none that were at the backstop as I started moving in reaction. No chance I'm that good.

It shouldn't be this hard to make a realistic tennis game. I'd still rather play the original Top Spin, Virtua Tennis or even Rockstar Table Tennis. I think tennis games have been so bad for so long that when a halfway-decent title like Top Spin 2K25 is released, it receives inaccurate hosannas.

I'll give Top Spin 2K5 more time, but so far I'm not that impressed and wouldn't spend $30 on this, let alone full price.

deleted the game after 1 hr. Just wasn't fun for me and maybe I don't have the patience to learn it.

I actually like the game. I started my career and didn't mess around too much with the pros. It's definitely a grind. Quite a lot of just feeling your way through matches with players that aren't very skilled. I don't know, I have to be in the right mood, but PK is right, the older games are certainly more realistic in the ball speed sense. It's definitely a lower budget title IMO...not a 60-70 dollar one like I paid. Maybe it's just the Agassi nostalgia factor for me...always was my favorite player so rocking his outfits is kind of entertaining. And yes I realize this post is bouncing all over the place. A few too many cold ones organizing the garage.
