Liverpool would better off starting a pylon up front in place of Balotelli. Despite a slight drop off in pace The pylon would be slightly more likely to score....

Great point!

I think the pylon would have had at least two goals.

Watched El Classico today. Very entertaining game, evenly matched in the first half. But Real in the second half looked like a La Liga titan, and Barca looked like a team from the Spanish Second Division.

BeIN Sport named Marcello its Man of the Match, but I thought James was fantastic. The guy has lost none of his flair and creativity since his World Cup heroics for Colombia. But I was VERY impressed by his work rate today. The dude never gave up on the ball and was flying at full steam on every 50-50 ball.

As a final note, it's so much fun to hear Ray Hudson offer color commentary for a match. What a colorful dude. What zest for the game, even after all these years.

Didn't think United deserved to lose this one. So RVP makes justice in the dying moments of the game giving them a little morale boost.

He was whining to the ref the entire match, whether he was angling for a better position in the opponents area claiming he was pushed or while defending he was lippy.

Four consecutive wins for Newcastle, including victories against Man City and Liverpool this week. Pardew for Prime Minister! :)

That was a good win, the D was solid while Cabella and Perez were instrumental in the second half. With the Frenchman they were more dangerous. But hold on, four games ago I thought that you wanted Pardew crucified. 8)

That was total s***.

Allen is doing what? Week in and week out this guy adds zero.

Moreno was epic fail.

Balotelli, any time bro.

I still think Pardew is a twat. The team is succeeding recently in spite of him.

Aguero enfeugo.

The going reffing is such a little b*tch. City could/should have had two/three penalty kicks so far.

For my $, that was the most inexplicable game of Rodgers' tenure. He has had ample time to evaluate where this squad is right now, and he still set it up in a way that was sure to fail. Balotelli clearly needs another striker up front. Sterling is wasted on the right. I don't understand what he or anyone else involved with the team is doing right now.

That was one of the most dire performances I've seen and worst of all...just f***in boring. No movement, no guile, no imagination. People can sh!t on Balo all they want but the other 10 players on the field aren't doing anything either.

Brendan needs to fix this ASAP.

But don't panic...only Real Madrid and Chelsea in our next two fixtures! :/

Well, it wasn't as bad as the blowout at Anfield as Mignolet who had a so so season so far made some key saves especially in the first half that kept the score respectable. Every cross by Marcelo had some venom in it and Benzema took full advantage of that.

Real advances easily to the KO stage, Liverpool has another tough game over the weekend.

I LOL on Toure's pro evo defending on that goal. He ran away from the attacker and acted like he didn't know he was there. I guess he didn't feel Benzema's Dragon breathe on the back of his neck ... or maybe he did and thats why he ran away from him.

Horrendous calls no doubt but in spite of that, there's just no leadership with this City team. So many guys could take that important role, Yaya, (well deserved red btw) Kompany but that was a shameful performance overall tonight.

Bayern looks solidly good, I like those unis.

I agree on both counts.

Chelsea are VERY good.

Just take handballs out of the rule book. You will never see a more obvious one than that.

Plus...I have never seen a guy get a yellow card for being punched in the face.

That guy is either on the take or too incompetent to be allowed to walk the streets let alone ref a game.

I'd be more outraged if I weren't using up all my emotional energy being frustrated at Liverpool blindly hoofing crosses into the box like a high school team for the last 20 minutes. Unacceptably undisciplined. Wasted lots of possession in dangerous areas during the most important part of the match.

Why not put Lambert in their with instead of for Balotelli?

I don't think Lambert is the answer to any questions posed by a clash against a top side. The subs were odd today. Can was clearly fading, but Coutinho was playing so well. I can't understand why he was withdrawn. I would've kept rolling with Ballo up front. His movement and workrate were excellent.

The most shocking thing about watching us play is the interplay between Balotelli and Sterling. I don't think I've ever seen two players with less chemistry and understanding. They can't link up for even the most routine of plays. Neither is specifically at fault, they just seem to have no common ground when it comes to understanding how they want to play.

Apparently so, given the goal Aguero just scored.
